  • I'm not saying it does to everyone, but it did to me. Diet coke was my drink of choice then, and the sweetener they use is aspartame. Not only did the seizures stop, but I felt much more mentally alert in day to day life.
  • I know you get a lot of negative posts to this, but while maybe not everyone has effects from this, some people do. For me personally, I was having mini seizures. Never had another one after giving up the artificial sweetners. I only drink unsweet tea or water now.
  • I actually do think there is a genetic tendency regarding weight. I watched a program about identical twins that were separated at birth and found each other later in life. The program talked about their similarities such as favorite colors, jobs, hobbies, etc.. they never mentioned weight. But each set of twins were very…
  • Some picky eaters just can't change. I am helping a friend with her diet. She has tried hard to eat more foods, but just can't seem to do it. But she is watching calories and eating her same old foods and doing good. She doesn't eat any meat and only a few vegetables. But she is staying in her calorie range, taking a multi…
  • I am 5'9. I would say at least 2000 a day. At least start there. Good luck to you.
  • SW 209 LW 182.5 This is last weight, not last week. Because I hadn't lost weight in a long time even though I was doing the same program as I had all along. So. I decided to up my food and eat as much as I thought I could without actually gaining weight. I also cut back on my walking a little. I did that for 3 of 4 weeks…
  • You can get your BMI under 40 by just using the tools on this site. Then join their group for the rest of your journey. They have their guidelines. It wasn't anything personal, I am sure. Best of luck to you.
  • Yes, you are expected to add more calories for your exercise. Why not let MFP calculate your calories, but please put one pound a week instead of two. You get better results. And then eat some of your exercise calories. Maybe 1/2 of them, more if you feel hungry. If you are doing a 30 day and feel like you need a day…
  • Thanks so much. I see that you have lost almost 60 pounds. That's what I was looking for. People who have been successful at weight loss while eating foods that are less than ideal.
  • This is the south. There is no such thing as "above and beyond" for family or friend who ask for your help. It is in our DNA. But she is making a real effort. Thanks for your good wishes.
  • Thanks to everyone who responded. I don't think that a lot of people know what a supertaster is. It is actually a physical thing. They have A LOT more taste buds than the average person so a lot of tastes are overwhelming to them. Some people have suggested that she just needs to decide to eat better. In a way, that would…
  • She doesn't have internet at her house, so I am tracking for her. She is on week two and staying under her calorie target. I love food, just about all food. It's hard for me to understand eating so few foods. I will help her for as long as she is willing.
  • I'm glad you mentioned the texture thing. That is something she says a lot "I don't like the texture". She just got a nutribullet. She said maybe she could drink it fast and get it down. I think she has only done it a couple of times. I hope it will help her get some nutrition. Tonight I fixed her minestrone soup. She did…
  • increase calories slowly and consistently until you get to a healthier intake. You may gain just a pound or two, so don't freak out. You can lose that again when you have repaired your metabolism. Good luck to you.
  • I was hooked on them for years. I was drinking at least four a day. I went cold turkey when I started having mini seizures and found a link saying that aspartame could cause seizures. So I haven't had a diet drink in probably 3 years. I never had another seizure and also have less fluid retention problems and just feel…
  • I would suggest you wait until you have reached your weight loss goal before you decide. You never know where those pounds are going to come from. I have only lost 30 pounds, but had to buy new bras. The old ones were not touching me in the band or the cup. I don't mind what I have already lost, but I hope I get to keep…
  • Congratulations on your success. I think you are looking good.
  • Your height and weight sounds pretty good to me. Maybe that is a healthy weight and where your body wants to be. But if you want to reduce, I wonder when you say you try all this advice.... how long do you try it? I would think it would take at least a month for any change to start to work. My opinion, for what it is…
  • I am in the same boat. I lost thirty pounds on 1500 cal at a rate of 1 or 1 1/2 pounds a week for 5 months or so. I was so happy, I thought this will not be bad at all. Then in June the weight loss came to an end. For the month of June and July, I have lost ONE pound. So recently I have started increasing my calories and…
  • no weight loss for me this week. again. Sigh. I am going to slowly increase my calories for awhile and then drop them back down to break this plateau.
  • Your on vacation. Just try not to go crazy and stay off the scale. Relax and enjoy.
  • I had joint pain for years, and then found that black cherry or tart cherry juice helped ALOT with the pain. Bad news is that it also has a good amount of calories. It also helps you sleep. A good nights sleep and less pain during the day might make it worth having to figure in the calories. Good luck to you.
  • Thanks to everyone that replied. You have given me some great ideas. I really appreciate it.
  • Cheese will be the big thing. She eats too much cheese. I am looking for alternatives. She will be eating a lot of the carbs that Dr. Mcdougall pushes. Potatoes and sweet potatoes and corn. Thanks for your input.
  • I agree. I love breakfast for supper, but bacon would be involved for me. Unfortunately, she doesn't like eggs. She is not opposed to them, she does eat food that contain eggs, but she doesn't like them by themselves. That is a big part of my problem. There are a lot of foods that she doesn't like. She is trying to eat…
  • Never heard of it. I don't know if it is available here, but I will check on it. thanks.
  • I had forgotten about quinoa. I will keep it in mind. I have made her a soup before that is vegetable broth simmered with chopped onion, black beans, white beans, kidney beans and a can of ro-tel tomatoes. That was pretty good. I think I could just add the quinoa to that. Thanks!
  • thank you. I will check these out.
  • from your pic, I would not have guessed you to be any where near the weight you stated. You look great. Congratulations.
  • Those new cheezit zings. They are amazing. I had some on vacation and I'm still craving them a month later.
