  • I love salad. No iceberg lettuce. Leafy greens, reds, and spinach. I use cottage cheese instead of salad dressing. I know it still has some fat, but a healthier choice. For more flavor, I add fresh ground pepper; and some crunch with sunflower seeds. So many good toppings to choose: carrots, cucumbers, beans, mushrooms, a…
  • Tilapia is easy. I sprinkle it with a little salt, garlic powder, and lemon pepper, then put it in a skillet with some olive oil. Doesn't take very long to cook. My kids love this. As sides, roasted red potatoes and asparagus, both in the oven with olive oil, salt and pepper.
  • I've been drinking approximately 1 Gal/day for a while now. It has many wonderful benefits. - curbs my appetite - softer skin (noticed this within a couple of days) - improves digestion and regularity - hair and nails grow like crazy Con: don't get too far from the restroom
  • Headed to the beach myself in a couple of weeks. I plan on walking, swimming, and playing with the kids. We will be grilling at the house most of the week also. No worries. I'll continue to log calories when possible.
  • Nature Valley Fruit & Nut Bar every morning with my coffee.
  • 4 LBS A WEEK!!! What the heck are you complaining about? I'd say the amount of water you drink must be pretty good. Just how much do you think you should be losing per week?
  • Water will not prevent you from losing weight unless it is too little water. If you are consistently drinking a gallon a day, the lack of weight loss is from something else, not water. I started drinking 14-16 cups a day about a month ago because I was not losing any weight regardless of my exercise and calorie management.…
  • I do the same. Rollercoasters...waves....isn't if funny how we visualize this. I see it as a bouncy ball on a staircase. It bounces on one step for a while until it rolls off to the next step, then bounces a while there. Yes, it is frustrating. Nice to know I'm not the only one.
  • Wow! Eat more....eat less...what to do. I think the real point is to make a change. If you've been working through the same exercise routines for a long time, it may be time to give your body a change. Mix things up. If you've been walking, try a bike, weights, stairs, just something different. If you're consistenly high…
  • I agree completely. Plan ahead and look up the restaurant in the database. There are many good food options loaded for most of the chains. Pick what you want from the database and stick to it. I did this for Olive Garden this weekend and knew just what I could have. Don't want to encourage you to spend extra money (unless…

  • If it's something you love, don't fight it, fit it in to your daily calories. I don't have a problem with sweets, but I LOVE cheese. Until I started counting calories, I never knew how many were in cheese...and fat too. :noway: Now I just have to be very careful about how often I eat it and portion. If you eliminate things…

  • I was stalled for more than two months. I doubled my water; my goal is 16 cups instead of 8. Now I'm seeing progress. It's a simple thing to do. Try it for a week or two.
  • That sounds about right. I'm 151 lbs and I burn about 425 for 60 minutes. Being heavier, you would burn more than me.
  • Where are you ladies? Has anyone over 40 w/ children successfully lost the belly flab? I want some specific workout tips for belly, butt, and thighs. Come on now....help me out.
  • Noooo! I don't want to hear this. I was just going to ask about targeting from the belly button down to mid-thigh. :grumble:
  • I had one of those days yesterday....it was so bad I couldn't recover with my workout. Taco salad in the tortilla bowl for lunch and Red Lobster (with the awesome biscuits) for dinner. As long as those days are rare we'll be okay.
  • kimdoes, Here's your comeback for the jerk. "At least I can fix my weight. Unfortunately, you can't fix being an *kitten*."
  • I am 41 with 3 kids and am having a very difficult time with my lower abs. I've been working hard on cardio for 3 months now and have a lot of muscle under the flab, but the flab isn't going anywhere. Before kids, I always had a nice flat belly....but no more : ( I would love to hear from those over 40 that had the flab…
  • Try drinking a gallon of water a day. I didn't change my exercise routine or my net calorie intake, just doubled my water. I wasn't getting anywhere with my weightloss and now I am consistently seeing results.
  • You say you're drinking your water...how much water is that? The 8 glasses? I was in the same situation, not losing anything and doing all the right things. I doubled my water just at the beginning of this week. I'm drinking a gallon/day now. I've lost weight two days in a row. Food/calories are necessary, but don't forget…
  • I know how you feel. I've recently been in your exact situation. How is your water intake? If you are exercising regularly, even if you don't sweat a lot, I suggest you try a gallon per day. I started this the first of this week and I lost a pound within 2 days. Its not that hard to drink a gallon of water a day if you…
  • 5'8" and shrinking as I get older. Ugh! Think I'm closer to 5'71/2" now. Anyway, my current weight goal is145, but my real goal is to comfortably get into a size 10 again. That might be closer to 140.
  • Maybe it depends on the person, but for me absolutely Yes! I've been stalled in my weight loss and very frustrated. For various reasons (dry skin, advice from friends, etc) I decided to double my water from 64 oz/day to 1 gal/day. Within a 24 hour period my skin became softer and within 2 days a dropped a pound. I don't…
  • I love my Diet Coke. No other soda will do. Although I only average about one 12 oz can a day, I've given it up this week all together just to jump start my weight loss. I really miss it...look forward to tomorrow when I can have one again.
