I don't particularly like eating meat, so I take protein powder. I add it to yoghurt and porridge, you don't have to use it in a shake.

The reason fructose is good for you is that its easily transported and stored through the body, this means your body needs to produce less insulin to deal with it. Thats a good thing cos insulin promotes fat storage, so minimising insulin production = less fat storage.

I find this extremely interesting as a PCOS sufferer I am sensitive to carb intake so eating whole grains can mean that while my calorie intake seems low I gain weight real quick. Who would have thought that fibre would have unseen calories? How we measure our food intake definitely needs reviewing.

Yes you can be too low, you need sodium to produce iodine which drives your thyroid. Its the body's only source. If you have a diet low in salt don't go running out to get table salt though it modified and not fantastic. Sea salt is best and most efficient.

I take a protein shake daily, I add the powder to yoghurt and porridge as well to balance the sugar load. I have issues eating meat and can only just tolerate freshly cooked chicken breast after being a vegetarian for 20 years. Not only was I lacking protein in my diet, I also take iron and b12 supplements.
