Think that is the only difference i.e. a narrower strap.

Assume you mean a day ? Can't possibly be putting on weight if you eat 1200 calories a day unless you are extremely small i.e under 5 feet and small built. Are you sure you are not under counting ?

Think for accurate calorie burn you need an HRM. These apps do their best based on averages but you need the heart rate to get the proper result.

I'm a runner but moving is moving. I use RunKeeper which is one of many FREE GPS based smartphone apps (with associated website). There are others.

May seem like but an obvious answer but STOP ! There is a big thing on MFP about running. It isn't for everybody. Even some people who are relatively fit can't handle the physical and mental makeup needed to run distances. There are a million things people can do. Don't force yourself to do something you don't enjoy and…

Been out already. Did 5.5 miles. Could have done more but don't like to push too hard.

Good job and a good time for a first outdoor run. I have a treadmill and use it a lot but it's completely different from running outside. On the treadmill you have no forward momentum and it seems to be harder to run shorter distances. Still good to have though for days when you can't be bothered going out or it's chucking…

No it isn't. If you walk 2 miles you will burn less calories than running. Your heart rate will be more elevated running and as a result you will burn more calories. If I walk 5K I will burn 300 or so calories. If I run it's nearly 600.

Never be afraid to run slowly. Better to have a 45-60 minute run at a steady pace than a mad 30 minutes.

Have you been yet :-)
-
Thanks for the info. Have bought some !

Already only run in dri-fit tops. Today it was raining and perhaps the combination of rain and sweat made the chaffing worse.
-
Yep. Will probably do that. Thanks.

To be fitter.

Need to open up your diary....

If not doing running (treadmill or roads depending on the weather) I either do nothing or take the dog for a walk. Nothing wrong with a down day.

1 set all. Checking in every so often. They might struggle to get this finished before the 11pm cut off.

Cyclist, hill runners etc all burn massive amounts of calories and are forever eating. Problem I foresee is developing a habit of eating non stop. The habit may just continue when the exercise stops.

I live in Scotland so can't help :-)

If you have a Polar FT4 or FT7 you press a button to start monitoring and press a button to stop. This will then show the calories burned. Not sure what you mean by "laps". The watch will store all your training sessions as individual files so you can look back through them. You are also able to download to the Polar…

Polar is an excellent brand. If you had an FT4 which didn't give calories then you were either not using it properly or it was broken. If it was the latter you should have sent it back. I have an FT7 and have no complaints so far.

Henman won 11 titles, got to 0 GS finals, reached a high of 4 (for a week), was a fringe top 10 most of his career, won 1 masters series event and played in an era when the likes of Hewitt and Krajicek won GS titles. Murray has won 22 titles, got to 3 GS finals, reached a high of 2 (for a week), been top 5 for several…

Just bought a Polar FT7. Not been out for a run yet with it. However, I've had a good play with it and I look forward to analysing the data and using it to improve my weight loss/fitness efficiency.

What do you think will happen ?
-
Good first run. However, don't expect to instantly run 8 minute miles when you do 3, 4, or 5 miles. If you try you'll probably end up bent double at the side of the road. Set a pace which you can maintain for a longer distance.

Depends on what you've eaten since you last weighed. One large spud (400 cals or so) will not make any difference.
-
A binge is when you find yourself sitting in front of the fridge, mouth covered in chocolate and surrounded by biscuit wrappers, bread crusts and empty take-out cartons.
-
Glad you changed the original post. I'm sure I wouldn't have been the only one to report it. Would have been your last day on here. Chill !!

You will not go into starvation mode by sticking to the calorie goal. Starvation mode is the biggest load of nonsense on these forums. If you have fat to burn a calorific deficit will burn it unless there is some sort of medical condition preventing this from happening.
