That advice would frighten most people away. First and foremost you need to create a calorific deficit to lose weight. This usually comes from eating less. I would agree that people should do exercise but it's not mandatory and we shouldn't tell people they have to do it.

Nothing. Just one of the many myths people like to pedal on weight loss sites. If you eat a couple of slices a day it makes no difference whether the bread is white, brown, green or blue.

Don't get obsessed with the actual distance. Go out for a run and if you do 3, 4, or 5 miles then so be it. Run as long as you feel comfortable.

Nope. I love 7 up free. 6 calories per can. Hasn't stopped me losing 70lbs. If you don't like artificial sweeteners don't drink them. Otherwise no problem.

Yep, this is very common. Not sure exactly why it happens but it happened for me also.

Hardly surprising people feel colder when they lose weight. I have lost 70lbs so far. Can you imagine wearing a coat weighing 70lbs all day, every day ? You are bound to feel a bit chilly when you take it off !

Sounds good to me. However, someone, somewhere will get upset by artificial sweeteners and will say don't drink it. On the other hand the millions of people who don't have a problem with artificial sweeteners will say drink away. It's up to you and your body what you put it in it. What other people think is only relevant…

If you have over 200 friends there is more chance of negative comments. My advice would be less friends. Also easier to manage.

10K is 6.25 miles if that makes it seem any less. Easily doable if you've been running for a few months. Just take it easy and run at your own pace.

As someone from the UK where tea is drunk by everybody I find it hard to imagine how someone can be on this planet for 25 years and never had a cup ! Drink and enjoy...it is refreshing. More so than coffee.

You don't have to. There are other strategies for losing weight. Personally I like doing it as it makes you realise just how easy it is to over eat. Only takes a few minutes of my day to update my diary.

First and foremost...ONLY RUN IF YOU REALLY WANT TO ! Too many people on MFP seem to think running is something you have to do. It isn't. It is both a physical and mental challenge. Not everybody is meant to run. If you are serious about running then get a good pair of shoes, start slowly and go from there.

You can be the correct weight but still unfit. Why not be the right weight AND fit. Hence the need for both a calorific deficit and exercise. It is your choice to do one, either or both.

What she said. Don't set your ultimate end point as your goal. First goal should be to lose x pounds, next goal y pounds. A goal may be going from obese to overweight in the BMI chart. Structure goals so they are never too far away.

Why do you want to change them ? If MFP says this is what you should aim for then why not just go with that.
