stones to pounds question

sorry if I sound really thick I am not good at maths! I am in uk & I am converting stones into pounds for MFP to record my weight, but last week I was 11st dead & I converted that into 154 pounds using a convertor on my phone, but today I am 10.13 stone & when I converted that it came up as 141 pounds nearly 142 pounds but surely I haven't lost 13 pounds in a WEEK???!!! am I being stupid??? I wish MFP would do a convertor on website or do they and I haven't found it!

There are 14 pounds in a stone. Using a calculator won't work as it is in decimal. 10st 13 is 153pounds. ie. 10 multiplied by 14 plus 13.

Last week you were 154 lbs. You lost one pound. You are therefore now 154 -1 which is 153. Forget the app on yer phone and use a pencil and paper :-)

Can you set your scales to display in lbs? That's what I did to save all the calculations...

    10 stone 13 lbs isn't 10.13, as 13 lbs isn't 0.13 of a stone. It's 13/14 = 0.92857

    So 10 stone 13 = 10.93 stone

    I use www.onthescales.com I think its great.
  • I have to convert aswell, but if you already converted it the last time you put in 11 stone. You only have to take off the pounds you have dropped this time from your last lbs measurement - 1 to get your 10stone 13 measurement. You only really need to do the calculations the one time on here. ie if you were 184 lbs last week and you dropped a pound this week it would be 183 :)

    Just remember 1 stone ≠ 14 lbs

+ how many lbs your over that stone.

    Eg 10 St 4 lb.

    10 * 14 = 140
    + the extra 4 = 144.

Pretty simple once you understand it x

I know where you've gone wrong :). You've multiplied 10.13 by 14. It's the obvious thing to do, but you are not 10.13 stone, you're 10 stone 13 lb which is different (closer to 10.9 stone).

What I do is multiply the stones by 14, then add the pounds. So 10 stone x 14 is 140 lb. Add the 13 lb and you get 153 lb.

I had similar problems, but then found this brilliant app which will records in either kilograms, pounds or stones. App is called target weight.
