Just sent Garmin friend requests. My garmin user name is also BigMech I have a Forerunner 220 and use it for logging my biking and running.

I've been doing it for 3 years now. I lift 5 mornings a week at the gym (Mon,Tue,Wed,Fri,Sat), and then I will usually run or bike at work 3-4 times a week, and once more on the weekend. It will definitely burn more calories and as long as you get enough sleep, and eat enough to keep your energy level up, you will be good.

I lift, run and bike. I hit the gym for lifting 5 days a week in the morning, and I run or bike 5 days a week, usually during lunch or the afternoon. When I run, I do anywhere between 5 and 9 miles, and when I bike I usually do about 25 miles. A typical week will look like this: Monday: Gym and Bike Tuesday: Gym and Run…

When I graduated high school, I was around 6'2" and 370lbs. Today I'm 6'6" (grew 4 inches in college) and weigh 247 as of this morning. I probably haven't weighed this little since the 7th grade, and I was only 5'7" then.

I've been maintaining successfully since December 2011, so about 2.5 years at this point. I've been trying to slowly add lean mass since then, with some good success. It took me about 20 months to lose 245 lbs. I'm not as strict with my calorie counting now, but I still count and log most days. Especially when I'm trying…

I use the padded lifting straps. I only use them once I can't hold the bar without them for dead lifts, shrugs, and bent-over dumbbell rows. They let me concentrate on the muscles I'm trying to hit, without having to worry about dropping the weight, or irritating my elbow tendinitis.

Because my car looks better backed into the space, and I can look at it as I walk away :) Plus, I have a backup camera, so backing into the space is easy!

I've been working in cubicles for past 20 years...... Current one is on the outside wall and has a window, so at least I can see what the real world looks like :)

I started out just walking for the first 4 months or so, then I joined the gym. At the gym I would use the ellipse machine, exercise bike and walk on the track. Mostly low/non-impact stuff. I also started weight lifting when I joined the gym. Swimming is good option as well, as it's non-impact.

You can do this! I started a 490lbs and have been under 250lbs for past 2.5 years. It's not going to be easy, but you have your motivation in being there, and healthy for you wife, and not a burden on her. You need to hold onto that motivation, and remember it always. The first things I started with were walking and…

I bought mine a year and a half ago when I hit my weight loss goal. 2013 Mustang GT Premium in Grabber Blue, with the track pack option and 6-speed manual. I've done a bunch of cosmetic mods, new rims and tires, bigger throttle body and Borla S-Type exhaust so far. More is coming this spring. The car is a blast to drive…

I bought myself the car I always wanted, but never fit in to:

I'm at the gym 5 days a week, and run and bike besides, and I still count calories. It wasn't the gym that made me lose the weight, it was eating less than I was burning. I'll stick with it!

Awesome work man, simply awesome!

Eric Clapton, BB King and Stevie Ray Vaughn are my favorites and my biggest influences in my playing.

I've been running 3 times this week in 10 degree weather with a windchill bringing it close to 0. The key is to dress in layers. Under Armor and Nike make some great cold weather gear. A balaclava is also a big help, covers the neck and head.

I do all my workouts fasted in the morning, just a little water during the workout. Plenty of people that work out at the same time as me certainly drink coffee before hand, but I gave up coffee 5+ years ago. Also, I try not to eat for at least 2 hours before a gym workout, which I can't do getting to the gym by 6:00am. A…

My wife got me a Garmin Forerunner 220 with the heart rate monitor for Christmas. I've only used it for 5 runs so far, but it's been good. Tracks distance, heart rate, pace, stride rate, etc. Battery life seems pretty good, as I've done 3 runs this week without having to recharge it, and still have about 50% battery on it.…

I actually make my post workout shakes out of a mix of the two. 1/2 Whey and 1/2 Casein. You get the quick absorption from the whey, and longer term protein supply from the casein. There are also of lot of powders that are already a blend of whey and casein. I use the Gaspari MyFusion Elite Protein Series for this.
-
Optimum Nutrition 100% Gold Standard Natural Whey. I've used both the chocolate and vanilla, both are good. They are have a natural casein line as well. This is where I usually buy mine from: http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/opt/natwhey.html

I use frozen fruit in mine. Only adds a few calories, and tastes great. I also do a mix of half whey powder and half casein. With the fruit and casein, you can use water, and still get a great texture. I've also done a banana and some PB2 powdered peanut butter. The powder it self makes a huge difference in taste. I use…

Banana Ice Cream http://www.thekitchn.com/how-to-make-creamy-ice-cream-w-93414 You just slice them up and freeze them, the you throw the frozen stuff into a food processor and run it till it takes on the consistency of ice cream. I did this for my kids and they had no idea it wasn't real ice cream.

I did all my training and ran my half in October without eating anything during the run. If you haven't been eating anything while training, I wouldn't do it during the race. I did all my training without carrying water, so I took it easy on the water stops too.

I quit caffeine over 6 years ago. We had a free coffee machine at work, and it got to the point where I was getting caffeine headaches in the evening at home because I had not drank in coffee in a couple of hours. I was probably drinking 6-10 cups a day. That is when I decided I needed to get off of caffeine. It was a…

I use the Optimal Nutrition Gold Standard Natural 100% Whey. I've use the Vanilla and Chocolate, haven't tried the Strawberry. The natural versions from ON don't contain any artificial sweeteners. The also make a natural version of the Casein powder, but I haven't tried that. The cheapest place I've found to get it is on…

Awesome, Awesome work! What a great example you are for your kids!

When I was losing my weight, I wore mine on middle finger, once it got to loose for my ring finger. Near my goal, it even got too loose on my middle finger so I didn't wear it for a while. Once I hit my goal, I had it re-sized from a 12 to an 8.5 and now wear it my ring finger again. If it's a plain gold band, it's pretty…
