  • I'm with Skullshank......I can do this
  • I love double breasted suits, but they can look a little boxy on me due to size. If you look good and feel good, rock it.
  • Hmmmm. Poor timing, justback from our Christmas lunch. Stayed off of the alcohol, had a salad to start, but did indulge in the main course and a piece of pudding. An I going to the gym tomorrow. Yes Do I feel guilty. No Same as a lot of people here, it took me a long time to get to 330lbs, it will take me a while to get to…
  • I was looking at the Jaybird bluebuds (note.....he CAN hear you  ) I have the Plantronics wireless, they are OK, they stay in, but I really dont like the cord, it is quite thick and irritates me (maybe thats just me) I was alos looking at the Beats with the over-ear clip, they look good, but expensive.
  • Get the Turkey going then head out for a run/walk/hike.......thats about it. I am off on Wednesday and Friday so plan on working out on both of those days.
  • I started at 330, currently 293, I am here every day, log my food and my exercise. I get to the gym 3/4 times a week and try to walk at least 5 miles a day on and off. I am normally successful. I know how you feel. I just got to the point of thinking that I was not going to last much longer if I didnt do something about…
  • I think that I agree with most on here. A certified Trainer that makes you comfortable in the gym will pay dividends in the future. I feel that the nutrition side, while simply put "eat less than you burn" may take a number of different specialities to solve. Have you looked in to a Healthy Eating course, maybe at a local…
  • Sounds fair, but as other have said, if you are working out you may be better off measuring rather than just weighing. I know that for me, while the weight is coming off, there are discouraging weeks, it is then that I look at the measuring tape and smile. Fitbit is great, it really encourages movement and above all, log…
  • 44......45 before Christmas. I log every day and exercise most (at the moment) always looking for motivated friends
  • Thanks very much to all of you. I will assume that those telling me not to run have my best interests at heart. Just FYI. I am not doing sprints or training for a marathon, I am slowly alternating between walking and a slow jog up to maximum of around 5K. I am also lifting and watching my diet, I am 35lbs down from my…
  • Excellent stuff my friend. This kids will get more and more of a handful as time passes. You will need the energy. CT here, but on a similar path, 3 months in, 35lbs down from a start of 330. I am starting to do more in the gym 5x5 stronglifts seems to suit me. I also walk/run most days. Lets give it up for the guys.
  • Amazing transformation. It is always great to see someone succeed from the point that you are starting, makes it feel real and achievable (with a lot of hard work and dedication). I started (again) at 44, 329lbs, I am down 33 as of this morning and very committed to following in your footsteps. Thanks for the story and the…
  • This week I hit 299.........still WAY too much, but a victory all the same
  • Same here. Being a bit of a nerd really helps with this stuff. I was brought up in a house where leaving anything on your plate was considered rude, if you did finish you were given more and all the time I was wondering why only my Dad, sister and me were eating. My mother suffered from anorexia as well as a number of…
  • Just saw him, filming on 6th Avenue
  • Please try to get a trainer, even for a single session, form, especially with compund lifts is so important, not only for gains, but more importantly for safety. I have trained previously (many years ago) so had a good idea, but going back to do 5x5, which I am really enjoying, I needed a refresher. I am quite weak for…
  • Welcome David, there are plenty of people here that can offer advice and motivation, they a a good crowd all pulling in the right direction. Welcome and good luck
  • I will take a look at the Runners World program. I have been using C25K. I like the app, but have to admit I am struggling. I think that maybe I am just too big and out of shape right now. With the app I think that C25K works well and is easy to follow. I am sure that there are free versions, I paid $1.99 I think. Good…
  • Why do all of these amazing pills have "Only when used aspart of a calorie controlled diet" or some such wording, on the package. In other words so long as you do exactly what you should, exercise more and eat better, the pill helps...........absolute tosh. You may as well have a handful of M&Ms "as long as you have them…
  • Started in the gym at 330lbs, started with Stronglifts 5x5, I like it as a entry way in to lifting, but I am starting to add a few more lifts with the help of a weekly PT session. As many have said, most people at the gym are more concerned about what they are doing than what you are, that said, I have never had a bad…
  • Interesting topic. I am over 300 (hopefully not for much longer) and I am about 1/3 of the way through a C25K program, jogging for 3 minutes, walking for 1 1/2. I would love to sign-up for a local race, but feel very self conscious about both my size and the fact that I may finish last, way behind the pack etc. Hence the…
  • Wow, what an inspiration to those of us with a lot to lose. Great job
  • No idea about the jawbone although would be happy to read the responses. I use my fitbit every day, i find that it works very well in challenging me to do more. I have set a 10,000 step target and i always try to exceed it. For my part it is 75% motivational and 25% functional. I am sure that you will get a wealth of…
  • I am back here after a few failures. Determined again to get going, but life has moved on. Its going to be more about diet and less about exercise to start with (leave home between 5 and 6, return between 7 and 8 every weekday), but I really would like to get back on my bike at weekends and not be completely embarassed,…

  • Amazing. An inspiration to those of us on the journey. Dont let a bad today be a bad tomorrow. Excellent.
  • I have this and I love it. Was always my dream car as a young lad growing up in the UK. Now I am in New England I had to have one. Buick Enclave is what my wife drives, not a patch on my truck, but actually a really good car. Loving the older Ford trucks.
  • Thanks to everyone that responded. I know the answers, was looking for additional pointers and, as always, found them on here. I enjoyed the linked post. Thank-you Laurie, not depressing, realistic LilyLee, we can do this..........
  • At least the 3rd time for me. Orginially worked really well for me, I was training every day and eating well. Life moved on, no longer able to train, food choices got worse, enjoyed my time, but time is not on my side and I want to continue to have fun. Back on the wagon. Good luck to all.
  • Im still around, not as active as I should be, but trying
  • Back in the game, now at 320, looking for 250 (was 280 this time last year, but screwed-up). Currently aiming at the 299, should not be a problem, but I always say that. I have some nice clothes and a great bike that I used to enjoy, I have a fantastic wife and some great kids that I want to enjoy. I have to get my head in…
