Well, this was a good thread to latch on to. I have been having many underlying issues for almost two years now that encircle peri-menopause. Comforting to know I am not alone. I have always been one to work out and adjust my calories to lose weight, if need be. My weight has fluctuated often over the years mainly due to…

Great post!! Keeping for future reference.

If you are questioning your PT, then I say you already have your answer. Time to move on. You already know more than her.

FammaMel because my name is Melanie and I am a single Mom of three. Though living with three women can be tough on my son, I am a toughy and have no problem playing the Dad role. So, he began calling me Famma instead of Mom.

I often run just to zone out with the music often times blaring to the point of questionable onlookers that I pass. Running is for mental clarity not exercise. For me. And, music is one form of therapy whether I pay attention to it or not must be going to keep me in the right zone.

I am 42, single mom of 3, 5'5" and looking to get to 155 right now... however, that being said I honestly am not going to put pressure on the scale number. I am all about lifting power and with that I know I will likely weigh more on the scale. My numbers that I watch are on the bar and that will bring my numbers around my…

At 5'4" with a more muscular build I was always mad at WW for telling me I should weight 130s. When I reached 131 (this is quite a few years back pre-three kids) I was so skeletal looking. It just was not a good weight for me. At this point I am seeking 150 as I have been more than comfortable and wearing a size 6 there in…

Love the list! Also, thank you for getting back on and telling us you gained 7 pounds over the holidays. Sometimes, i forget that I am human. Not sure if mine gain is the holidays or the menopause but either way it kicked me into a healthy, logging gear again. :)

No hot flashes here but have been premenopausal for some time now. Night sweats sometimes but I am finding I am cold all the time. Kids think I am crazy because I wear layers around the house always. Weird. Was on BC for estrogen/progesterone last year and not sure whether or not it helped; but insurance was cancelled so…

As stated above, it would be TDEE minus 15-20%. And, yes many have great results. Check out the Eat More to Weigh Less group. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/3817-eat-more-to-weigh-less

GREAT post! Amazing perseverance and determination! So glad you proved to yourself, to your group, and reiterated to everyone on here that you can do anything you put your mind to!! And my God what a great group of girls who waited. Super awesome stuff!!

I agree. I very rarely join the forums just for that reason. I do however appreciate my friends lists where I can post a status with questions and they help me to understand better. To those being bullied, I would gear your energy on here toward your friends list for moral support first and take the name calling with a…

I think it all depends on what is comfortable to you and the conditions in which you are completing the program. I would have loved to do it barefoot; however, I completed the program in my basement on cement floors therefore wore my running sneakers. Everyone is different.

Awesome commitment and determination to change! Congratulations on a job well done. Your simply beautiful smile in the after photos shows how happy you are at the transformation. Amazing and inspirational!

Yes and completely unfair! I'm just thankful it doesn't stop me from working hard and moving forward regardless of the scale. I'm 41 and I pick things up and put things down. Lol! I no longer watch the scale as often as I watch and work for PRs on my lifts. StrongLifts, 5/3/1 and split session lifting has changed my…

Your progress is amazing! Your story, divine. Keep up the awesome work!

I would recommend NROL4W for the routine and knowledge on weight lifting for starters. As far as the grunting, once you feel more comfortable in the weight section of the gym with your own routine, the grunting and feeling in the way of others will subside. I grunt... but I'm lifting heavy so I expect to grunt. It took me…

I am right there with you! My scale has not moved in almost a year; however, I have cut down on the cardio and been doing more strength training. A LOT MORE! And, though I would love to get my weight down in the 150s too, I'm more focused on getting stronger. I realize that my clothes are fitting better and I feel better…

Morning is the only time I have. Its just a matter of repetition, I think. I get up at 4-4:30 a.m. Not exactly the hour anyone would want to wake up but it gives me time to wake up, have my coffee and settle in the day a bit before working out at 5 a.m. I also like the benefits I reap when working out in the morning - I…

Cinnamon and sometimes a little hot cocoa mix.

Men's Old Spice. Odd, I know but learned from my daughter and will never turn back.

We all start with baby steps. Way to talk yourself through it!! Persistence is key! You should be proud of yourself. Awesome progress!!

I have been making the following using a can of soup to keep for the week. This adds the extra protein that I was looking for and still is low cal: 1 can minestrone (or vegetable soup) 1 can corn 1 can green beans (you can use mixed veggies or whatever pleases you) 1 can diced tomatoes 1 can black beans (drained and…

I eat three every morning and often will eat three at night; however, only one is with yolk the other two are whites only.
