Same here, but mine was due to a knee injury. Still, when I should have been watching the diet more carefully because I couldn't do much exercise, instead I tried intuitively, overate, and the weight crept back on. I'm kind of back at square one. Feel free to add me, too. :)

Hi Everyone! I'm Beverly. I'm 47 and the mother of a 3 year old boy (yes, I can hear some of you groan!). Let's just say that Mother Nature has an odd sense of humor. Anyway, I'm at 171 and I need to get down to 145-150. I've got a really good start and have lost 4 pounds in about 3 weeks. I certainly think I can lose 10…

Fantastic replies, everyone! Thanks so much for the information.

Thanks, Fit_Canuck That's what I was thinking, too. I just upped my calories using the BMR but I think it should be the RMR, Oi vey! How am I going to eat all those calories!

I'm going through the same thing. I'm a little different. I've started and fallen off the wagon many times and I'm back with a really good start. I've been at this three weeks and dropped a few pounds the first week and a half. But, for the past week and a half, I haven't lost a pound. Not even an ounce. I researched…

I'm coming a little late to this discussion but I know how it is. I'm 47, work full time, have a 3 year old at home. It takes dedication to exercise to make it work. It also takes a lot of organization. It also takes help from husband, children, etc. I get up at 4 am to work out because it's the only time of day I can do…

That is phenomenal! You should be extremely proud of yourself. You look fantastic!!!

Thrift stores are a great option. Or if you sew, you can alter your own clothes.

Thank you so much for the link. I have probably 70% of those symptoms.

Hot flashes Irregular heartbeats Night sweats And it seems my appetite has increased a lot. I never used to eat this much!

I do this same thing although I was putting it down to hormones (perimenopausal) and the mood swings that go with it. While that might be part of the problem, I fear I'm just having cravings and letting them get the better of me. I'm glad I'm not the only one who has this problem. I'm coming out of a funk right now too,…

You look fabulous!!! Congrats!

How rude! It never ceases to amaze me how rude people can be when they are feeling bad about themselves. I don't think you are being too sensitive at all. She's just being rude and inconsiderate. She's failed in her healthy lifestyle and you are successful. People, I think, are intimiated (or envious) of success. I would…

Thank you everyone for your prompt responses. I will take it down to 1 lb/week and if I do more, then so much the better. I am dedicated to doing this in a healthy manner - with a clean diet and regular exercise. I usually lose about 1 - 2 pounds per week so that's what I was shooting for but again, I was afraid I was…

Wow, really, really glad to have found this thread. I'm 47 and I'm perimenopausal. My doctor told me a year ago that my ovaries are shutting down. The hot flashes come and go for me and I haven't had to try any medication - natural or otherwise - yet. The only problem I have is that when I get hormonal, I REALLY don't want…

I think this is the one question everyone has - do I eat back my exercise calories? I've asked the same question and got different answers. I suppose if I'm not hungry and my calories are from a good source, I should do fine. So, if I go over my 1200/day, it's no big deal because I still have a deficit and I should be…

I also burn around 300-400 calories for a cardio session but tend to burn 600-700 per day total because I walk very briskly for one hour.

I have started Turbo Fire this past week and it's kicking my butt! I'm so out of shape. On day three, I switch it up and did Shoulders and Arms from P90X, just to get a little weight lifting in there. I'm taking my break today because my body was screaming at me last night but I will pick it up again tomorrow. I really…

TMX2U, I feel the same way. I want to be at my target weight NOW! Your one day at a time approach is a great idea and one I think I will adopt. 40 lbs in 90 days is fantastic!! Great work!!

Thanks for the input, everyone! Yes, I'm eating at least my 1200 calories but I was trying to eat my exercise calories. I thought that was the whole idea so I wouldn't go into starvation mode. My food diary is a little crazy. Most of the time, I eat dinner leftovers for lunch so to save time, I just use the quick tools and…

I'm with you MSAAP. I hate doing Yoga X even though i know its so good for me. So, I switched it up this morning and did Arms and Shoulders instead. Only got in 30 minutes though, because my husband was sick and I had to leave home early to take my little one to daycare. I walked uphill on the treadmill for 30 minutes at…

Can I be a late starter?? I need to do my P90X so that I can be ready for P90X2!!

This morning, I did Turbo Fire 30 (very high impact cardio). 45 minutes later, I had a cup of cooked oatmeal (not instant) with flax, pecans and blueberries. 3 scrambled egg whites and 1 whole egg scrambled. 2 cups water. 1 Vitamin, 1 bee pollen capsule, 1 Claritin (heh, allergies kicking in). That was at 5 am. By 8 am, I…

I have a fitbit and I wear it everyday. It tracks your steps, how many miles you've walked and calories burned. It will even track your sleep, if you wear it to bed. It will automatically sync to your computer every time you come close to your charging station. There is no monthly fee. The fitbit website has a food and…

I just squeezed an orange over my salad. It was wonderful!

I'm new here but I have been lurking for a while. I am currently on a huge push to lose some goo around my waste. I'm doing P90X lean phase (week 2) and I have eaten clean every day since Thanksgiving. I gave up the eating clean during Thanksgiving weekend and I came back home craving veggies, fruits, and whole grains. Go…

I will try it too. Sounds very good. Thanks for the tip!

I am so sorry you are feeling this way and I know how frustrating it can be to obsessive over food. But remember, 3 pounds is nothing in the grand scheme of things. It could simply be water weight! One of the ways I have combated food obsessions is to look at food as fuel. If I take the emotion out of food, I become less…

My son and daughter have subscriptions from Men's Health and Women's Health, respectively. I have looked through those magazines and found that they are mostly about fashion and lifestyle with a few articles on fitness and nutrition added in. For women's mags, I like Oxygen, although I know that doesn't help you much,…

When I was pregnant with my last child, I had gestational diabetes. My husband and I ate out a great deal then and I had to go online and look at the nutrition of the different restaurants we frequented. I am now able to go into just about any restaurant and order healthy and I discovered which restaurants to avoid. I am…
