  • Though I don't record my weight or base my progress off of a scale, I will admit that I have two scales in my bathroom sitting side by side... and I do hop on the scale at the gym every chance I get.... I too don't trust scale readings and feel that every stinking one is faulty. I'm still curious enough to use them and…
  • I think it pretty natural for most to get along with the opposite sex. I always get along better with women. I've had both male and female roommates in college. It was always easier to live with the women. guys always put on a front with each other. You should see some of the interactions between guys at the gym. A lot of…
  • I agree with most here... layers will only have a short term weight loss result do to water weight reduction. Some people may be able to slightly raise their bpm during a workout and increase their training intensity by raising their core temp. But I don't think the slight increase is worth the risk of overheating. In…
  • Good gracious... I'm definitely dragging you guys down... I need to step it up a notch!!! Sat mornings are always my long running days. I'll hopefully be able to pick up my slack. Great Job Team 4!!!! WE GOT THIS!
  • The polar FT60 has a built in training computer to keep you in certain zones during your workout depending on your fitness goals. It will also check your current aerobic state right before your session to re-calculate your training zones for that session. I bought my FT60 on amazon for about 140 with free shipping and no…
  • With the little amount of weight loss and with all the cardio you've been doing, I would lean towards questioning the accuracy of the bodpod. I do know that it's harder to get a %BF reading off of weight lifters and athletes. Granted most bodpod readings are pretty accurate; there's always room for discrepancies and…
  • sorry... double post
  • In addition... Your volume of fat will be lower than what it was before, but like I mentioned in my last comment. your reading is based on your current overall weight.
  • You are probably burning fat too... but the rate at which you're losing muscle compared to fat is much higher. So if you take %BF reading, it's going to be based on how much fat your body has stored compared to your overall weight. It won't be based on how much fat you have stored compared to your muscle mass. You're %BF…
  • If you do one right after the other, you'll burn more calories as opposed to splitting them up. Your heart rate will still be elevated doing them back to back... if you split them up, you will have to get your warmup in again in order to get you bpm up to an aerobic rate.
  • oh... and don't forget to browse through peoples food diaries to see what they're eating. You'll see a trend of great tasting foods that are healthy!!

  • Some stuff will taste like cardboard... especially out of the box type of healthy foods. Fresh meat and veggies is the best way to go. Like someone else has said, just cut out most of the oil and salts during cooking and you should be good. It's rare that my food is bland. Just make better choices when buying food and…

  • Thanks Momma!! Everytime someone comments on my transformation I want to go run some more and lift more! Thanks for the motivation!!!
  • If your calorie deficit is too high your body will go into muscle atrophy to try to preserve the fat because it thinks you're headed for a famine, so it's trying to protect itself. Also if your heart rate is too high during your workout outs, you'll burn too many calories in such a short time and your body cannot burn…
  • I'll check my weight... but my fluctuation throughout the day is insane (+/- 5lbs at any given time)!!! I only check it to check it. I monitor my progress soley based on my %BF and circumference measurements. That's the only way I can stay sane!! Plus I'm building muscle, so my weight really has no bearing on my health,…
  • Totally Agree... I have friends that I want to go the gym with me. They'll go one or two times, then they'll flake out. They will then turn around and ask me to go out drinking with them.... HELL NO! I'm going to the gym and watching what I put in my body... I worked too damn hard to get here to fall on excuses now!!!!
  • I have the Kindle.. because of the E-Ink... I have sleeping problems, having a backlit lcd doesn't help with melotinin production. therefore I went with the kindle... no refresh rate, no backlit lcd... plus it works perfectly in direct sunlight. My battery lasts FOREVER!! There's also all the apps for phones, laptop, and…

  • Just had my cheat meal tonight... first time I redeemed my coupon this month... but I don't have the urge to go again tomorrow.... I guess it all depends on the individual and their will power/control not to keep binging...

  • I built my muscle while holding a calorie deficit... but I guess it depends on the persons body type, diet, and exercise plan. You can pinpoint certain muscle groups while working out to build them, unlike fat. You can't spot reduce fat. a pound is a pound... muscle is much denser than fat... so if you lose the same volume…
  • Thanks for the websites Ally! I'll definitely check them out. I don't eat anything solid before my run... I'll usually have a protein shake and some pb2 and pop a potassium supplement about an hour before. The night before it's usually my regular diet. I always have a protein shake right before bed. My blood pressure was…
  • I don't have a cheat "day"... but I do allow myself one cheat "meal" a week for keeping my head in the game for every other meal. I don't always redeem that coupon every week, but I allow myself the go ahead to do so if I wish.

  • I had the same type of body... but It slowly transitioned... I took a quick peak at your logs. for the most part it looks good, Have you tried spreading your calories out over more meals? There are few meals here in there that could be problematic... I would try to stay more consistent and keep a good eye on your totals,…
  • I'm really excited!!! Amelia... should we include height too? so that we can balance teams. I'm a short guy, so my strides are tiny!
  • I did a lot of walking around the college campus when I was big... My pants/shorts would bunch up between my elephant legs... I use to pretend to look behind me so that I could do a little side step to release my pants from my leg fat death grip....
  • It took my about 4 weeks before noticing anything... I've heard it takes between 3-6 weeks if you're consistent with your diet and exercise
