I'm pass 50 and I'm having the hardest time losing this weight. I work my bottom off and weight doesn't come off fast. In 3 weeks I've lost 3 pounds, I look at it this way, that's better then gaining 3 pounds. If I worked as hard 30 years ago as I do today the weight probably would be coming off faster.

I also track my calories with my HRM and add them to my cardio. I find if I do some cardio blast with my strength training I will burn more calories then just doing strength by itself. I know that weigh in is on Wednesday but I got on the scales at the Y this morning and I weighed in at 197.5. At least the scales are going in the right direction for a change, that really lifted my sprits.

Well I weighed in this morning and I lost 1 pound, that's better then gaining a pound. My body doesn't want to give up the fat to easily but it sure will put it on easily.

The weekend went pretty good. Since I don't go to the Y on the weekends (I go Mon - Fri) I got my bike out today and took a 1 hour ride, I went about 3 miles. I hope everyone had a great weekend.

I know what you mean about a waste of calories. I went to Steak N Shake last week with a group of friends for lunch and had a strawberry shake and found out lately it was 631 calories. Needless to say I didn't have dinner that night.

Hi I have the same problem. I eat sensibly during the day but for some reason my appetite really kicks in around 7 or 8 at night, don't know why but it does. It's hard to keep from eating so I keep a lot of fruit in the house so if I do eat it's not as bad as eating a lot of stuff I don't need,.

I use a heart rate monitor, a SportLine. A heart rate monitor is the best way to keep track of calories burned.

Over the past 1 1/2 years I've taken on 40 pounds; however, in the past 3 to 4 months I have put 10 of those pounds back on. The Thanksgiving weight lost challenge sounds great to me, count me in.
