The program definitely works! This lady goes to my former box and she had tremendous success with it. eattoperform.com/2015/06/18/etp-member-spotlight-janet/

I will be in NC in September, this is the box I have been looking at to drop in. Good to know, thanks!

Now that its cold here I wear compression tights with shorts on top. My box is hot in the summer and COLD in the winter. If I could get by in shorts I would but its just not happening. Mine are Reebok brand.

Yes, try different ones until you find the one that clicks. I visited 2 before I signed up. One place felt very much like home and the other seemed like a typical gym full of jocks that had no time for the newbie. I joined the one I was comfortable in and haven't looked back. Good luck!

I sent a bunch of requests in the thread but then lost track. Feel free to add me, been doing CF since May 1st. Just signed on the dotted line for a year.

Good Advice!

Have you considered giving Crossfit a shot?
-
Don't knock Crossfit until you have tried it. Almost all affiliates offer a free workout. Go try it and then offer an opinion.
-
haha, someone should warn them about eye strain! ;-)
-
Great! Glad you are liking it. Now stick with it!!! ;-)

I would suggest going to visit each one you feel is close enough and just watch them run thru a WOD. I visited 2, and while they both seemed to be fine as far as coaching goes, I felt more at home in one vs. the other. It's hard to explain why, I just think you will know when you find the right place.

First week was brutal as far as soreness, by the second week that was over. Right now I'm going 3 days a week but plan to do 4 or 5 days eventually. I joined as unlimited so I can go as often as I like. I really want to keep up my running which I just started this past February so I'm just trying to work it all into a…

Go for it, but be prepared to be VERY sore the first week. I'm 46 and my daughter is 18 and we both were barely able to move after 2 sessions our first week. Started into my second month yesterday and love it so far. You just have to get past that initial soreness. I also highly recommend the Youtube series…

OP, glad you enjoyed it and decided to give it a 1 month try. I just started my second month and see myself sticking with this. Any CF friendly people in this thread feel free to add me, always nice to have like minded friends for encouragement and motivation!

I started a month ago along with my 18yo daughter. By the end of the first week we both were extremely sore and struggling to climb stairs, etc. It's probably the most soreness you will ever experience. We were laughing at each other cause neither of us could hardly move. Once you get pat that its much easier but never…

The easiest and probably most accurate method is the get a heart rate monitor and log the calories burned that it records during the workout.
-
Sounds great! You went from Paleo to vegan????
-
This should help answer your question: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gOsvIl7VLYo Oh, and you don't have to get fit to go get fit.
-
I did my first CF workout last night. I barely survived! ;-) If you can do that and maintain your 50 miles a week more power to you. My quads are so drained today its not even funny. I think you're going to need to eat to do this.
-
Great! Keep it up!!!

Don't forget the importance of proper shoes, preferably getting fitted at a true running shoe store (not a big box). I started on 2/2/2013 at the age of 46 having never run before. I was a true anti-runner, but on a whim signed up to run a 10k in April and joined a 10k training group. I ran 1 mile the first day, a week…

I started running in early February and quickly started suffering from shin splints. I would come home and ice after every run and that helped. Then I discovered shin compression sleeves. I purchased Zensah's and I wear them faithfully for every run, and most of the day after a run if possible. I no longer even need to ice…

I love runkeeper, but I use that and endomondo at the same time because endomondo can integrate with MFP and update my calories burned automatically. I have had no issues using them simultaneously.
-
Great! Yes, you can DO this!
-
Monument Ave. 10K, my first race ever. I just "became" a runner in February.

Best thing ever for my shins! http://www.zensah.com/men/men-accessories/compression-leg-sleeves.html

JUST DO IT!!! I'm 46, 60# overweight and I signed up for a 10k in early April. I had never run in my life when I signed up. The local YMCA has a training team they do every year for this 10k and this year I signed up to do the training team with them. The training team is just a group run every Saturday and a booklet with…

I started running in early February. I am up to 5 miles now. I started having shin splints early on. By the second week I went to the local running store and got professionally fitted for the proper shoe. I also got shin compression sleeves. I wear the sleeves during all my runs and even much of the day after a run. They…

Great job! I would have guessed you were in your mid/late thirties in your starting pics, now you look like early twenties. Way to go!

Best thing I did for mine was going to a running store and getting the right shoes and getting shin compression sleeves. The sleeves are amazing for me, cant recommend them highly enough!!
