I donated mine at goal weight. That way, when a couple pounds started to creep back, it forced me to lose the weight again or I'd have nothing to wear. Having larger sizes available would make me more likely to get complacent; YMMV.

Dermarolling works, either DIY (find the rollers on Amazon) or at a dermatologist (they use lasers for the same effect).

Maybe you're iron deficient? Or deficient in another vitamin that cereal is fortified with? I find that some cravings are tied to things we're lacking. It wouldn't hurt to look into the possibility.

This is me, exactly. Plus, I just feel better if I have that longer gap between dinner & lunch. I also find that it helps me budget better for unexpected meals out-- I have more calories available to me so I don't go as far over.

Fake stuff pretending to be real food, i.e. "Fat Free Cream," Miracle Whip, margarine, etc. The real foods are much more delicious and so much better for you. Oh and anything that's been bastardized to be low in fat (esp. salad dressing). You can safely assume they've replaced all the yummy/satiating fat with sugar of some…

I've been thinking about you since this post. Remember why you're doing this -for your health and happiness- and that your husband will benefit from that too!! How is he? Praying it all went well.

Huge salad w/2 hardboiled eggs + 120 cal worth of dressing, or bump up to 3 eggs and just use good vinegar.

I'm of the "listen to your body" camp. If you're not hungry, don't eat.

Thank you! That site's exactly what I've been looking for.

Butter is just cream with less liquid...

Amen to all of that!! BTW you are my new favorite person on MFP! :)

Consider that it takes 3500 calories to create a lb of fat. Have you eaten an extra 15,400 calories over the last couple days? No? Then it's not fat. :) Drink enough water (a gallon a day is good), eat right, keep within your calorie range, keep moving... you will see results.

Dude, take it to a therapist. You are obviously angry and only looking to publicly bash your family rather to than find real solutions. I feel sorry for your family, since you've clearly stated that you think you're so much better than them. Maybe your wife is being ultra frugal because she can see the writing on the wall.

I think you need to really look deep inside yourself and consider why exactly you gained the weight in the first place. I know that some people gain weight to "hide," especially if they've been abused, and I would imagine that losing the weight would cause them to feel vulnerable and exposed. Obviously your story is unique…

Sounds like you have a marriage issue, not a food/budget issue. How would she feel if she read the comments you've posted about her? My advice is counseling, STAT. Hope you work it out soon; being at odds is not fun or sustainable long-term.

My kids eat what I serve. Period. I never buy junk food so they don't eat it, apart from an occasional outing to a restaurant. There are many of us out here who don't think that children need some special junk food diet just because they're children. Somehow children in other countries manage to eat their local cuisine…

Personally, I'm disgusted with grocery stores!! I saw a flyer for one they other day and apparently they sell ridiculous amounts of food! Far more than anyone should eat! And all the bad food too - snickers bars, frozen pizza rolls, deli macaroni salad -- it's horrifying! Don't they care about our health??? People wouldn't…

THIS is key right here. I think the main reason people are getting fatter and fatter (apart from the fact that sugar/wheat/corn ingredients have skyrocketed) is because they are craving nutrients that they are NOT getting from the SAD. Many of the nutrients added in after they've been stripped out (like in breakfast…

There are Tim Hortons in the States! :) I love diner-style coffee and theirs is the best I've had (it has that awesome nutty flavor). Oh and maple butter is easy to find if you live in a state that produces syrup. A few things I wish were more easily found: GOOD ouzo & retsina UK style bacon (although I guess country ham…

Have you tried going wheat free? Wheat Belly is good book to read. My belly is noticeable when I eat wheat. When I abstain for a few days it disappears.

Had never heard of them so checked out the site. Looks like they're just made from yam flour -- and since yams are paleo I don't see why not.

It takes 3500 calories to create a lb. of fat. That 450 cals won't make a difference as long as it's not every day. In fact, a calorie spike every once in a while sometimes helps people break plateaus.

I have nothing against dark chocolate, but it's possible you have a magnesium deficiency and that's why you're craving it. Get yourself a supplement and see if it makes a difference (it did for me).

I'm not, it's beating me! ;) I can't do it, I just can't. It's often 100 here for long stretches. I would run late at night/early AM but I don't really feel safe in the dark. If I was single or didn't have kids I'd be more cavalier about running during those hours. So until I have a treadmill (or am a more…

Uh, no. I can eat the same calories in protein/fat/veggies and I will feel totally full for hours. Give me pasta, rice, beans, bread (esp bread!) and I will be starving an hour or two later. When calories are equal, I still feel completely differently on days when my diet is high carb rather than low carb.

Literally, it means that if you eat your cake it's gone - you can't eat it and still have it. It's used to refer to times when people want the advantage of one choice but not the accompanying disadvantage of that choice.

Two words: Second opinion. Hope it turns out well for you and you get some relief STAT!
