www.questnutrition.com or Vitamin Shoppe. GNC is grossly overpriced. They're delicious. They have fewer than 5 net grams of carbs (a bit of controversy over this, but unless you're in ketosis, it shouldn't be a big deal), no added sugar, lots of protein. Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough is my favorite.

Hey guys, I'm on my second Whole30 right now (Day 17!) and I really love it. Honestly, besides adding in Greek yogurt, I might stay on this diet forever. Feel free to add me as a friend! Also, I've written a few blog posts about my experiences and tips for the Whole30. If you're interested, it's at…

135 on a 5'2" frame. Hovering around 115 now, but building muscle.

Most people count net carbs, or Total Carbs minus Fiber.

Again, not really interesting, but I'll give it a shot. I was active as a child--dance classes and soccer practices consumed my afternoons. But by middle school and high school, I was far more interested in the drama club than in sports, so my activity levels dropped. My eating habits, however, did not change. I recall…

I'm 5'2". My highest weight was around 135 and I felt gross. I'm currently at around 119, trying to get down to a solid, muscle-packed 115.

Well, I know for me, I'm doing calorie cyclic Leangains style....so my set calories on MFP are for my low-cal days, and then on my high-cal days I just say I burned 400-500 calories so my target goal is correct that day.

I am addicted to them. Don't buy them off of GNC- they're marked up insanely. VitaminShoppe.com almost always has deals and free shipping on them, though. Flavors I love: Apple Pie, Chocolate Peanut Butter, Chocolate Brownie, Cookie Dough Flavors I like: Chocolate Chunk, Cinnamon Bun, Cookies & Cream, Banana Nut Muffin…

hahaha omg that gif is so cute!!!!

I'm so sad for my lifts. And I guess I can make some no sugar peanut butter cookie things for my rest days. :sigh: this is going to be a longgg 7 months!! I may actually do a mini bulk in the middle (like 4 weeks). Has anyone done that?
-
Thanks for your insight so far. I guess we'll just have to see what happens as I think it's probably different for everyone, but I'm hoping I see some gains!
-
I only get them when I eat certain foods. I'm pretty sure yeast does it do me (so breads, etc.). I literally look like I'm 6 months pregnant. Round, hard stomach just poking out there. It's ridiculous!

To be quite honest, I have no freaking idea what I'm doing. I've read a lot of research and I've been lifting for 1.5 years now, but I never followed a specific program. Maybe I should pick up Starting Strength and see where that gets me. I honestly feel like my lifts have not budged in 6+ months, despite a large calorie…

Lots of online cals, including 1percent Leangains calc. I'm not positive of my BF%, so that could be throwing things off.
-
You've gotten very good at basic math from adding up calories in your head. Your parents start asking, "We're making dinner tonight- is it your carb or fat day?"
-
I try to write everything down, but I guess I'm not being crazy diligent about it and that could be the problem. To clarify, I've been lifting for 15 months but have only been on this current bulk for 5 weeks. I'll start tracking more carefully and see where things go from there!
-
I've been lifting for a little over a year now. I've only gained .75 lbs total, so I assume only around half of that is muscle. I'm only using a body weight scale to measure- no access to body fat measuring devices at the moment, unfortunately.

I know. It's disgusting and so not fair at all!! Granted, he DID hit the gym hard and compete in both tennis and wrestling for the first 21 years of his life, so it's not like he did nothing, but still!! I wish I could eat entire pizzas and have washboard abs....

This might happen to him, I'm not sure though. His family is all very thin, and his father didn't even begin to see weight changes until his mid-forties. My fiance is currently 27, btw, and experiences no physical repercussions of his eating habits so far. His blood work is even immaculate. Frankly, it's not fair haha

anewday23, that IS possible; it's called a recomp. But the process there is SLOW going, and many argue it's just spinning your wheels. I'd rather do a few bulk/cut cycles and get results faster.

Great article, thank you!

It's not so much that he's worried that I'll get fat because he personally finds that to be unattractive; rather, he knows how much my physical appearance matters to ME, and knows that I would be uncomfortable at a heavier weight. So he's just trying to look out for me, I guess, in the best way he understands how.

Ooh dried fruit. I think I'll stock up on that, too! It's just hard to get used to, eating so much! I don't know how men do it, honestly. I can barely reach 1900 cals on workout days, and some men eat, what, 4000 calories a day?! I can't imagine. Thanks for all the suggestions!
-
Ah, I had forgotten about lentils!! Hm, I guess I'll be making some soup tonight!
-
I've done the low-/no-carb thing before and I find I gain muscle more easily when I have carbs. I follow Leangains, so my carb goals I essentially 200+ g on WO days. I eat other grains, I guess. I'm mainly trying to stay away from sugar, wheat specifically and corn, as I've done a LOT of research, both academically and…

Thanks everybody! Your stories have all been very encouraging. I think I'll try to not log for 2 straight weeks and see how it goes. I'll probably go through some sort of MFP withdrawal but I'll survive!!

Great, thanks for all the advice guys! I upped my calories so I'll be eating 1810 on workout days and 1550 on rest days. I'm going to up my reps and stick to the main lifts (deadlifts, squats, overhead press, etc). My protein intake has always been pretty good (~100g) but I need to cut down on the carbs for sure. I'll give…
