You've got lots of good tips here, so follow those for sure! You can search 'proper running form' on you tube and find lots of great videos to give you an idea of proper form too! My tip to add to the others here is this; I'm a big runner myself. I started at 275, and where I'm at now, my best distances is 8.5 miles! The…

Yup, do both! I too lift 3 days away, run the off the days. I finished C25k awhile back, but weights & C25k line up perfectly. Plus, they'll compliment each other too.

I lost my first 50 lbs just with diet and walking! Walking is pretty great. I started with about 15 min every other day, then once that stopped being sore, bumped it up to 30 min every day. Wasn't long after that that I was out walking every day. Do as fast as you feel comfortable, take a break when you're too sore, just…

I've often been told to remember that C25k is just a general guide to help you build up to the 5k distance. I've also been told to listen to my body too! So, if you decide to press on, I wouldn't worry about it but if you hurt...make sure to dial it back a bit and work your way back up.

I used C25k Pro by Guy Hoffman to start and it worked great for awhile. Later on around Week 6 or so, it started resetting itself about the time I started my cool down phase which frankly....sucked. Could be my phone though, don't know. Up until then, it was simple and pretty great. To onirama, it *does* seem impossible…

Congrats on graduating, I have two days left! My plan is to continue the 30 min intervals and just try to push my time. Also going to try and work in a 4th day every week too. I'm *really* slow, but I've heard running HIIT (High Intensity) sprint intervals helps a lot with speed!

Cardio, 6am every day. Strength stuff, in the evenings after work. it's so much cooler running in the am!

I'm down 64lbs so far, got about another 75 to go. For me, I started out walking. It was slow and only about every other day, but I did it. Give it about a month and you'll start to look forward to it and liking how you feel when you're done! To start with, I only walked about 15 minutes every other day. You push too far,…

Just finished week 8 myself! I plan on just adding 3 m inutes every week till I hit the full 5k distance! (I'm a big boy, I'm doing about 2.3 miles in the 28 min intervals, so not expecting the full 3.11 mil in 30 min .....yet!)
-
Yay! Good job! You'll be back :-) its addicting!
-
It is daunting to start, but it's still doable! Get yourself a program to get yourself up to speed and soon your 2 minutes will turn into 30! I started Couch to 5k at 299 lbs. Wasn't pretty . Did it anyways! Today, I finished week 8 doing a 28 min run. Two things that I've noticed in the 8 weeks I've been doing it: 1.)…

I run barely faster than I walk, don't let the slowness bother ya! Like a friend told me....you're still lapping those on the couch!

Just finished week 5 day 3 myself! I plan on keeping at it, loving it! Congrats on week 3, you're getting to the fun stuff now!
-
Definitely possible! I'm 38, just weighed in at 301 and completed C25k week 4, Day 1 yesterday! Was it hard? Most definitely! It's very doable though! As Elizadolots said, just take it slow and you'll be fine. The key is, you set your own pace, as long as you run the times they've laid out. You don't have to go fast, just…
