I'm so overwhelmed by the support I've received in this thread. Although I don't currently have the mental capacity to answer you all personally, I thank each and every one of you wholeheartedly for your insights. For so long, like many others, I've struggled with the idea that there is anything beyond being lean and fit.…

Thank you all for taking the time to respond - each of you have given me something to consider. I woke up this morning feeling highly embarrassed having posting something so emotionally charged, so it meant a lot to see that I've had plenty of support. There really are some good people left in this world <3

Thank you both! Oh god, Roxie - how embarrassing, my diary is an inaccurate mess right now! The past couple of weeks I've been 40/30/30 but uncommitted logging (and calories too low), but I've planned tomorrow just now at 1900 (bulk calories, might be a little too high right now) and 45/25/30 (minimum 1g per lb bw because…

Thank you, lorrpb. Doctors don't seem to want to entertain the idea of me lifting - a battle long before this, without good rhyme or reason. My physio is a darling but she isn't very helpful in the weight training advice department - minimal upper body work, no loads to stress the shoulder, no deadlifts or back squats. No…

Its definitely well worth checking out! If you do start, feel free to hit me up :)

Many thanks for all the replies! Got a good idea of what i can do to confidently work around the problem now. Thank you! So glad you picked up on that. I was losing the will to live before actually starting the program when I read it as sets as opposed to per workout!

BUMP!! Come onnn, any more of you out there in need of an open diary to scrutinise? A weight lifter right back at square one to playfully mock? I'm predominantly gluten free and low FODMAP so hell, I could even be of use. Ladies and gentleman (and any lovelies in between) are all welcome.
-
Desperate, rather sad bump.

Many thanks, to one and all! I think I'm going to swallow my pride, scrap the crappy routine and go right back to basics. Stronglifts might be a bit much at this point, so Starting Strength it is! Would starting with this with a moderate calorie deficit be okay, or best to start with quite a small deficit?
-
I'm hearing you all, guys! And definitely taking what's being said on board. Think I might actually go back to the Stronglifts idea.

For now, primary goal is reducing BF%.

Thank you one and all, from the bottom of my heart, for the messages of support, encouragement and concern. Not to mention the hugs! I really am glad I turned to the MFP forums for this, as my support network at home isn't very tight right now. Basically, as my (ex?)fiancé lives in another country and our mother tongue…

Thank you one and all for your replies. Today is D-Day and as much as I know I have a long, painful road ahead of me, it is one better travelled now than five/ten years down the line.

A Serbian Film. Disturbing in ways you couldn't even dream of.

Interesting! http://voices.yahoo.com/elliptical-machine-vs-stationary-bike-weight-loss-8400167.html?cat=50 I just can't imagine HIIT on an elliptical, that's the thing.
-
Thank you ladies and gents - at the moment it's looking like the elliptical! Although more personal opinions are welcome :)
-
Thanks! When you say great exercises to get over them, what do you mean?

Honest to God, any chance to show my little man off. Enter Yoshi...

Spooooky!

Hugh Laurie, but only as Dr House.

Merhaba Istanbullady :) Hosgeldiniz! First off, search the forums for 'In Place of a Road Map' to understand the sciences behind how much you should be eating. The whole weight loss/fat loss thing IS a lot about diet (ahhhh, and in a country which loves its bread so much!!) so make sure you record everything you eat/drink…

Biiiig love, guys and girls! There are some seriously awesome ideas here!

Thanks to those who mentioned form! I'm going to spend tomorrow's session focusing on my form rather than increasing my weights. A foam roller sounds like an idea, too! What about treadmill running? All good while I'm feeling like this?

I tend to wake up with the pain and on some days it's just impossible to shift. Makes bending difficult. It disappears if I'm sitting down but I think that probably stiffens my back more so I'm conscious not sitting down for long amounts of time. I lift weights so, as others have mentioned (thanks guys!), I'm probably…

Thanks for the link, will check it out :) Might also add more warm up stretches before my lifting, as my current warm-up doesn't really prepare me for squats and similar exercises.
-
Thank you both for your replies! I am so glad that I got an agreement (or two!) on the machines not being very beneficial for my goal (fat loss and general strength building). This morning I changed the squats back to 'normal' form, removed the machine abdominal crunches and replaced them with weighted swissball crunches…

Cheeky bump? :(
-
Thanks - guess I just didn't read up well enough! Will just 'trial and error' it for the first couple of weeks and see how it goes.
-
Thanks, guys. Guess I'll stick to weights on gym days and running when I'm not (:
-
Thanks guys! I guess it really is a case of trial and error. I'm already committed to a massive tub of the stuff so I've got plenty to practice with :( haha.
