  • I own a Weight Watchers digital scale. I don't trust doctor's scales, whether they're the tall monsters that sway back and forth or similar to a bathroom model. If it's in a doctor's office and they ordered it in there, I don't trust it. They make you about 5 pounds more than what you are. :grumble:
  • Nice to know there's other Atlantic Canadians out there!!! Newfoundland, Canada myself.
  • Though I can buy off the regular size racks, a lot of my tops and jackets are size XXL. I went out shopping tonight and got myself two new tops - size XL!!! I'm on a roll!!! Can't wait till some more of this fake "baby bump" (or non-existent one) is shed!!!
  • I'm 5'10" myself, and started at 248 here. I dropped 40 pounds off on my own. I'm currently back up to 241.2 due to hypothyroidism, the doctor wants to check me out on a drug (blood test) in 4 weeks. My goal (again) is to get to 200, and damn it all to hell if I don't make it there!!! LOL I have a high school reunion in…
  • Add me on!!! I too have a tricky time getting weight off. That's why I'm on here. I'm starting over because since the fall last year I ended up with hypothyroidism and never picked up on the symptoms. And my epilepsy doesn't make it easy for me to lose on my own, either. My diary is always open for view, so if you add me…
  • Well then you're lucky you found me!!! I'm in the same situation right now, so let's stick together and rock it!!!
  • I hear you!!! I'm also 36 and about 5' 10"; I'm trying to get to 200 for now, I'm currently as of today 242.4 lbs. Very happy to be back in the swing of things myself, as a case of hypothyroidism knocked the wind out of me for a good while and put the weight back on me. (Grrr.) So I'm always looking for new friends too, my…
  • Some to the Salvation Army thrift store, and if they fit right, some to a friend of mine who's also losing weight. She has a different shaped body than I do, so what doesn't fit me and looks right for her, I try with her first. Too big for either of us, and it's off to the thrift store. I'm lucky it's not too far from…
  • Hi Devann, I'm Jennifer. Wow, you've lost 115lbs? I envy you. It might not seem like a lot, and it mightn't always show up physically, but you've lost a lot more than you know. Remember that wagon full of fat that Oprah Winfrey towed behind her on stage that time? Multiply it. You've lost a lot of that ugly stuff, and it…
  • Does Hungry Girl have a website? Maybe there's something I could grab off of that. Hard to find some books like that around my neck of the woods where they're popular.
  • Hi to both of you!!! I joined up here two years ago and I'm always looking for new friends. I'm in Canada, and my diary is always open so you can take a look at mine anytime!!! Add me on to your list if you like!!! :flowerforyou:
  • Let's see...um, yep. Uh huh, that's me. And I get the cramps megatime!!! My only relief for the is a back and muscle relaxer pill. All hail Robaxecet!!!! LOL
  • Lisa, I truly feel you pain right now. I was told over the phone that my blood tests had come back, and something new had shown up in it - underactive thyroid. I'm going to be seeing my doctor on Tuesday, so I'll find out the course she'll have for me. Add me to your list of friends if you like, I could use someone for…
  • I too have dealt with grief and weight regain. Just a few days ago my uncle (mom's side) lost his wife to pancreatic cancer/lung cancer, and a cousin (mom's niece) lost her husband due to a heart attack. Just stood up and died. I, on top of things, just haven't been able to do anything because of an underactive thyroid. I…
  • I have to agree on this, I have a mega sweet tooth and chocolate is my BIGGEST downfall. Did I give it up when I started out here? HELL no. I just watched how much of it I was eating, and then figured out how much to drop from my diet. Now I buy those Lindt bars, several different flavors at a time, and if I have a…
  • My name on this site says everything about me and sweets!!! Gotta try these, send the recipe to moi!!! LOL
  • Man, do I ever wish I were your weight!!! LOL I'm always looking for new friends too, add me on if you don't mind being friends with a 244.6 pound, 36 year old Canadian!!! LOL
  • Wish I could say yes to that, but if I'm guessing this right, there's probably only GoodLife fitness outlets in St. John's. If you live out that way, great you're in luck. But if you happen to be like me, a West Coaster, you're SOL. If that's you, then your best bet would be some place like the YMCA or some nearby gym.…
  • I have never heard about using Topomax for either migraines or BED but what I do know from personal experience is that it is often prescribed for seizure disorders. I take it myself where I have epilepsy. Taking it for these two reasons mentioned is new news to me!!! :noway:
  • I've heard of this one more than once in my lifetime. The ketogenic diet. This is a diet that neurologists, believe it or not, recommend for people with epilepsy, usually kids but some adults too. I was as a kid. It wouldn't have worked though, my seizures were and are still too great. That's why I'm just watching what I…
  • I have a name rather than a picture that inspires me, because she went through a similar lifestyle change that I'm going through now. That woman is Tosca Reno. She was overweight once too, took charge of her life and now look at her. Never mind just the magazine pics, just in general. She's my reason for losing the weight…
  • Hey John, I'm Jennifer!!! Add me if you like, after all, we all need friends to help us out, right?
  • No no, you've got that all wrong!!! You call him a guy who'd make a great ARRRRRbitrator!!!! LOL Couldn't resist that!!!
  • Add me too!!! I'm 35 from Eastern Canada, needing to lose another 41 pounds from my 48 pound goal, and I could use some more help, since I've slipped up and flopped off the wagon. (Fell off just isn't the term for it, trust me.) I'm always willing to help you out if you'll help out me!!! :flowerforyou:
  • Agreed there. Also, it could be how much you use to cook it. The more you use, the more calories you're adding. Just a little something to keep in mind next time you cook it that way. Your best option would be to use cooking spray, as this often adds the least cals.
  • Welcome!!! I made this journey here April last year, and wouldn't even have known about this site if it wasn't for a friend I have on Facebook. I'm always looking for new friends, so look me up and add me on if you like!!! Good luck on YOUR journey, and I hope you get many friends on here to help you on your way!!!…
  • My dog makes weird noises at the dinner table while bumming for food - after he's eaten his own kibble. A Dachshund, he'll sit down and attempt to make the sound of a cat. Doesn't do too bad a job mimmicking, either. If that doesn't work, he'll make bird sounds. He only makes desperate dog barks if no one will feed him…
  • Me too!!! I wanna lose another 5 pounds by then. Look me up if you wanna add me on!!! :flowerforyou:
  • Not anymore you're not. West coaster here, in Corner Brook. What part of the rock are you from?
  • At 5ft, I'd say 1200 cals a day might work. I find the best is to wait and see. Keep in mind, you'll find out real quick just what you can eat per day before you go over 1200 cals - not much. I myself only have an 1270 cal a day allowance, and I'm 5'10". In anything, I say good luck, and if you wanna add me for a friend,…
