Had some mandarin slices and coffee, hit the gym, came home and had waffles with syrup and some nice sage sausage wheels.

Chobani is my favorite Greek yogurt, too! I eat them a dessert all the time after dinner.

That's a very good point :) After a year and a half of this, I find that I DO look forward to trying out different recipes at home and more meat-and-vegetables-based meals. But I still like a good slice of cheesecake once in a while!

I take a Stress B-Complex vitamin every day. I didn't think it would make a big difference in my mood and energy levels, but it does. It also makes me pee neon yellow sometimes. But apparently that's normal. :)

If you don't have a medical condition such as diabetes, don't worry about your sugar intake. There's no reason to think it's going to do anything to you. Your calorie intake, however - that's the equivalent calories of a slice of cake, a huge fruit salad, a piece of chicken and some steamed veggies. It's a lot of calories,…

Do you think maybe just telling him that you're not in as good a shape as he thinks you are and that you feel really terrible after your workouts may help? As your personal trainer, he really needs to listen to you on this. Even if you were, in fact, wrong that the workouts are too hard for you, clearly that's how YOU…

Yes, that's just crazy talk. *also eyes ticker.*

IMHO there's no such thing as "healthy" food - just healthiER food and that varies for every individual (e.g., what is healthy food for a 75yo Celiac with multiple food allergies and a thyroid condition will be different than what is healthy food for a 45yo with hypertension, depression and an iron deficiency). No one can…

This has been my experience too. The dudebros at my gym are always willing to answer my n00b questions and mostly leave me alone or are just nice and say hello otherwise.

I have really wide hips and had a "thigh gap" even when I was 200 lbs. One of my best friends weighs barely in the triple digits at 5'5" and doesn't have one because of her tiny hips. I can't wrap my head around this weird trend but I AM going to steal the phrase "jealously gazing into the abyss between someone's thighs."…

Yeah, the thought has literally never crossed my mind that by getting in shape I might attract more dudes.

What people need to do is not project their own food neuroses onto their children. I give my kid money to buy a snack at school. He usually buys a couple of chocolate chip cookies or pudding. At home he might have apples and peanut butter, carrots with mustard dip, a mini-pizza, a frozen pretzel or even more cookies. He's…

That you have to replace your WHOLE wardrobe - even pajamas, bras, underwear, coats and even BOOTS that used to be snug and are now not so much with the snug. I was expecting to have to replace my clothes, but it didn't occur to me that even my underwear would have to be replaced, for some reason. It's honestly pretty…

For dressings and salads, I do like plain Greek yogurt. But for a spread on sandwich, I either go with the real thing or smush on a ripe avocado slice instead. :)

We are about the same size. I have to exercise at a medium to high intensity for nearly 2.5 hours straight to burn anywhere near 1000 calories. Running for an hour for me burns about 380 calories, Zumba might burn 100 more. So unless you're spending 1/8 or more of your day exercising, you are probably not burning as many…

I make nerdy costumes and often order specialty pieces from China on eBay. I wear a size 8 pretty consistently, somewhere between a US size small or medium. China's size charts indicate that this is a 2X. Kind of demoralizing. lol.

Right? The title basically had me at "Butter."

Yeah, I'm not heavy but it would never occur to me to assume that an overweight person a) was at a gym specifically to get thinner b) was in bad shape in the first place (I know people who weigh 100 lbs more than I do who have several times the strength and stamina I have) and c) needed my approval or recognition in the…

Any time I see "The ___ Diet" where ____ is a specific type of food I assume that all it does is make everyone on it hate _____ for years to come. Just eat whatever you want at a slight caloric deficit and you'll lose weight. Why do people overly complicate things so much?

They're a little too sweet for my tastes (but neither do I like the Kashi variety, which taste like apple-juice-sweetened cardboard to me). But they're not bad or garbage or any other weird moral judgment people want to pass on them because they don't ft into their ill-conceived restrictive diets. If you enjoy them, fit…

I don't distinguish between healthy and nonhealthy or junk food. It's all food, it has no inherent moral value. In my house, we talk about how to discern nutritional content and why someone might choose one kind of food over another depending on one's fitness and wellness goals, but my son is 16 and for the most part I let…

Yep. She's pushing all her excess skin together. I too can get a similar look if I slouch while smooshing all the skin and tissue in my abdomen near my belly button, yet I have a nearly flat stomach and just a little excess skin when I stand normally. Methinks someone was trying to prove a point.

Yup, nothing wrong with pizza or bagels. I used to take my skinny minny teenage son there Monday nights - he loved the unlimited pizza. It was from his favorite local pizza joint, too. PF is not for serious or experienced bodybuilders. It's for beginners and people who are out of shape or overweight and are intimidated or…

There's nothing inherently unhealthy about cake and chocolate. A slice of cake unless it's super decadent is around 300 calories; likewise a candy bar is 250-350 calories. Use portion control and eat what you want. Unless you're on one of those ill advised VLCDs you can probably have a slice of cake and still meet all your…

I became 60 lbs overweight over the course of about 10 years, so it was gradual for me. And it was largely due to ignorance. I didn't know anything about nutrition, weight management, or fitness. I used to be rail thin when I was a dancer dancing up to 8 hours a day, almost every day, and I'd eat anything I wanted and not…

I'm 5'7" and have a very narrow frame. My ultimate goal weight right now is 135, but like others, I will aim for a range of between 130 and 140. I'm currently at 157. It's within the healthy weight range for my height, but still too much on my very small frame. I mostly only count calories, though I walk a few times a week…

This is my guess, too! We've already seen fat, salt, sugar and carbs demonized - it's protein's turn next! SOMETHING has to be to blame for the fact that we eat too much - and it can't possibly be US.

Yeah, it's not just the conclusions being disproven by another peer-reviewed journal. This is an admission of complete failure and incompetence. Of findings of this magnitude and this far-reaching, it can be career-ending. Somebody done messed up.
