A year and a half ago, I tried a workout that started you at 20 seconds, and worked you up to 1:30 by the end of the month. I never got past 40 consistently, and the one or two times I made 45 I was crying. Fast forward 18 months.... I'm at 50 seconds - rest a minute - 50 seconds Once I hit a minute, I'll add a third rep…

I weigh in twice a week. Tuesdays because I found I was always running late on Monday mornings and forgetting to log what I weighed... I've since found that it gives me one extra day to even out any indulgences in my guilty pleasure of life - a good Sunday brunch! Then I weigh on Friday primarily to check body fat. That…

My March goal was to maintain the weight loss I had already accomplished since I was aware there would be weeks that getting to the gym would be challenging. So far, so good. I'm even down an additional pound - been very vigilant since I've been very aware that getting time to work off extra food/drinks is scarce My April…

I was in your position a number of times in the last two years. I would feel so fed up at trying things and seeing no impact at all, so I would try something else. Then, three things happened 1) I started phasing in my changes so that instead of this wall of impossibility, I was constantly challenging myself. It wasn't…

The clothes I own are fitting a little looser, and last weekend, I was inspired to try on a new pair of jeans. I'm down a pant size... and given that this pair of one-size-smaller pants was also on the clearance rack, I bought them! Victory of the weight and the wallet - and a reminder of what I'm working toward that I…

My goal was to lose 10 lbs by March 5. This week, I weighed in on Tuesday and I'm down nearly 13 - a week and a half early! (Yes, my page says I've lost 6, but I gained between when I started MFP and Jan 10, when i started really hitting it hard again) If I can keep it off till next Monday I'll post it everywhere else.…

Great job! I've just gotten to the 10 lb mark too - I gained weight between the last time I used MFP and when I started again in earnest... so from the new high on Jan 1 to now - down 10.8lbs

I just finished Kate Locke's "The Queen is Dead" trilogy - good stuff! Quick reads and fun!

I just realized - I read all your posts, but I have never officially introduced myself. I'm Stephanie. I'm 38, and newly single within the last month. I'm back on MFP for the third time now. I tried once when the ex-boyfriend suggested we both start losing weight, but I wasn't in the right headspace, and got bitter that I…

I hear ya there - had to work for most of it!

Hi! I'm trying to use 2014 to lose about 15 pounds (which hasn't happened in any of the last three years I've said that... darn stress!) I've made a lot of lifestyle changes in the last few years - mostly good, one or two bad, I'll admit it - and they don't keep up with my age/metabolism/scale. Tired of doing the work and…

I'd love to just lose some body fat. I've been stuck at the same spot for a year now... can't break through the plateau without making changes that are not sustainable for my career lifestyle, but I'm always looking for things i haven't thought of. Posting this more so that it's easier for me to track these stories and…

If it comes in a package, I track it. If it doesn't, I guesstimate. And I do try to estimate restaurant meals since there are so many already logged, and enough info on websites that I can help add to the database. That gives me the wiggle room in a day to have a piece of gum and not track it, or a handful of almonds while…

Thank you for calling this out on being confusing!! I'm reading this post because I am in the same boat - started cleaning things up at the end of December, and haven't seen results yet - and these are the kind of posts that are so defeating to me, because it makes it seem like you have to master every bit of that before…

The friend I had plans with forgot and made other plans, this is the one night of the week there's not a dance venue for the type of dance I like, and my boyfriend wants the night to play EVE so here I am... twiddling my thumbs itching to go somewhere (And I'm someone who is usually quite content with sitting at home)…

I've read it, and would highly recommend it. Know going in that you're reading a post-apocalyptic society... and that you can't read it lightly. There's one point about 3/4 of the way in that makes it ALL worth it and makes you want to read it again.

I understand - while I don't work with food, I'm in a desk job where someone brings food about every day of the week. I just keep almonds and fruit in my desk drawer so I have an option, and lots of gum. My problem is the stress. I'm under a set of daily deadlines and deal with a number of toxic interpersonal relationships…

I enjoyed it as a way to ease back into running - didn't lose any weight on it that I could tell, but I didn't really start making the effort until December, and did that in the fall to get back on the treadmill with minimal shin splints

I didn't track my measurements - All I could find when I started was a metal tape measure, and after slicing both my thigh and my arm trying to take measurements, I let myself quit on that one! :) As far as the cheat days go, there have been two very special events that I have worked toward for a very long time in the last…
