If you can keep that up for 5-6 hours a day, you're a better woman than I am, Fluffy! (with apology to Kipling) Choose a time to use it and actually log the time for a week or two to find out how much you really use it. Good luck with it! Where did you find it? and how much, if you don't mind, did it cost?

I managed to strain my bad leg last week and have not been able to exercise much at all. Also had one day when I totally blew it. Surprisingly, I'm still on track to make my goal--225 by NY. Back to basics for me. I do eat the same things over and over a lot! But, truthfully, I did that when I was stuffing myself, too. So…

Agreed. About the beans--Dry beans are cheapest. Soak them in water with 2-3 T of baking soda for 30-45 min. Strain off water and rinse beans well. Then cook with clean water and whatever seasonings you like. This will reduce the gassy effect tremendously. Also, 1/2-1 tsp of ground ginger will just about finish it off.…

You have fought the good fight. You have finished the course. BTW, Marilyn Monroe was a size 12.

30 min walk, 3 sets /10 squats, 3 sets / 15 KB swings Almost ashamed to enter this among all of you athletes. I have an exercise allergy, and I'm just getting started with this
-
Considering my exercise allergy, I'm on my way. Some exercise 4 days this last week, walking, gardening, kettlebells (only a very little). I was sore and copped out. Still having some pain, but determined to ignore it unless it gets worse. Goal: 30 min walk/daily 3 sets / 15 squats /daily 15 min KB (10 lb) / MWF

Pick up a copy of the Low Glycemic Index. That will help. What meds are you taking anyway? This is the first time I've heard of this reaction, not to mention its lasting a year and a half.

Figure, your body is about 80% water. (BTW, they were saying 8 glasses/day long before they started bottling it) You may not actually need 8 glasses, depending on your activity, but it won't hurt. Excess water in moderation will act as its own diuretic.

What is TDEE?

CHEAT? As you progress using Kettlebells, you need heavier ones. Here's a cheap way to do that: Go to your local hardware store, plumbing section... buy: the piece you screw to the wall to hold the pipe; looks like a circle with a nipple in the middle, threaded pipe that fits will screw onto the nipple, about 12 inches…

Wow!! Most explosive thread I've seen so far!!! People really getting worked up about this!! You said it yourself. You need help. One man said it right: "if you don't take care of yourself, nobody else will." Do your kids a favor and give them some responsibilities. They need to be helping you--for their sake. Also, you do…

Thank you.

This fits my new mini-goal. I'm in. SW...260 CW...250 GW...234 (230 ?)

flax seed...you put it in your food (or I did)...doesn't change the taste...adds fiber and the good oils...about 2 T should do the trick...

Mikayla, I recommend Crystal Light. (sorry, I don't sell the stuff) If you're not allergic to artificial sweeteners or stevia. It tastes good and really helps me drink water.
-
WTG!!! You deserve to feel good! Keep on taking that kind of good care of yourself.

Sounds like I feel when my blood sugar level drops too low. Maybe your extreme workout is using more energy than your diet is supplying at that time. Try a "little something" about 20 min before exercising. Or just drink some OJ or something after, but watch calories.

bump means I'm saving this to read later

All carbs are not equal. The body does everything better when the blood glucose is in the normal range. Low glycemic carbs are fine. High glycemic carbs spike the blood glucose, and can eventually promote type II diabetes. Just sayin'.

I don't tell people my goal weight. Truthfully, I tell them my goal is to remain upright and mobile as long as possible.

Sweets, salts, and fats seem to be much stronger. Got collard greens from my favorite bbq place and they were SO sweet I couldn't eat them. Collard greens! With SUGAR? Wow...

Really sorry, Tina. I belong to this club, too. "Member since 2010." Seems to be fine now. Doc says I can do whatever exercise I want.
-
Soups, vitamins, tylenol, tea, and water. LIGHT exercise.

The only time I lost weight and quit smoking at the same time was when I had just "fallen in love."

Want to lose 28 pounds by New Year, on the way to 110 pounds (maybe a few more, but I'll have time to think about that) Been at this for a while. already lost 25 pounds this year, so it is possible.

thanks for the charts comparing values...

Happy birthday! A small splurge, maybe like Kimberly said. I am learning to think in consequences more than impulses. It helps a lot!!

Any excuse is better than none. I have always hated exercise. I'm a sucker for instant gratification, and the only thing I "instantly" see is sweat and tired, followed closely by sore muscles (think I need exercise much?)
-
Come on. I am 71 years old and I am doing it. My folks live long==into their 90's. I want to be upright and mobile as long as possible! Also, this much overweight is hazardous to my health. They told me that losing 10% of my weight would make a big improvement, so I did that (28 lb.). Now I'm doing it again. And then I'll…

Count me in. I've been heavy as long as I can remember (and I'm 71). This past year I have lost and gained the same 5 pounds over and over and over again. Really tired of that. Health problems? Yeah, but no excuses here.
