3-6 pounds is normal for me, accounting for everything -- clothes change, food intake, water, when I last peed, etc.

 WINNING!

Obviously no one who is moderately intelligent will argue that a pound of "X" weighs more than a pound of "Y". That does not make sense to anyone and I truly do not believe that anyone argues that. I'm sorry, but I think the whole argument is just semantics. That said, however, here's an example. Two people with a 34-inch…

That was my question as well -- very interesting! Thank you for the information! I had no idea scales today use electrical currents to read your fat :ohwell:

Nope -- skip the butter altogether  (j/k) (sort of). Welcome and good luck to you! Add me as a friend if you'd like :flowerforyou:

I've heard a thousand people argue over exercise calories, but this is the best analogy I've heard yet! Thanks  Sincerely, An Always-Faithful Exercise-Calorie Consumer

1 block off of Hollywood Boulevard (... in Los Angeles, obviously) :glasses:

Thank goodness! I'm not sure why this took so long or seems so revolutionary. I realize that many people don't care what they eat or how many calories/sodium/fat/etc are in it, but the rest of us do! It would be outlandish for places to have a list of things you can buy (food or anything else) with no prices listed -- you…

I have seen it at places such as Olive Garden, IHOP, Denny's, Quizno's, Subway, and most fast-food chains (that I know of). However, I have heard that this varies regionally. I live in Los Angeles, but I've heard from other folks here around the country that they don't always have calorie info on the menus yet. I suspect…

1. You should be eating all of the calories that MFP recommends for you. As you mentioned, going significantly below that for an extended period of time can screw with your body and metabolism ("starvation mode", etc.). 2. If you're going to the gym, you can enter that under "Exercise" tab at the top. Cardio exercise will…

If I were you, I wouldn't go spending more money on another scale. Most people's weights fluctuate up to several (like 3-5) pounds throughout the course of a day. Depends on clothes, whether you have food in your system, water retention... all kinds of minuscule factors that aren't worth stressing over. Just weigh once a…

How much you burn depends on how much you weigh, so it is not the same for everyone. I weigh 160 and log it at "circuit training - 20 minutes" and it gives me 180 or so calories burned.

bump to save for later :)

THIS is what I bear in mind any time I go over by 500-700. "Oh wow, I ate at maintenance level instead of weight-loss level for a day. Weird. Oh well." Obviously, if you do that more often than not, you'll maintain more than you'll lose, but it's all in your hands. Also, as some other posters have said, don't beat yourself…

I eat the yolks too. But if I didn't eat the yolks, I think I would buy the carton of egg whites instead.

Thanks for this! I'm running a 12-K next weekend. Good luck everyone!

I tried it and did not really experience any extra weight loss. BTW, the fat limits that they recommend are not to exceed 15 g per meal, which is really what you should be aiming for *anyway* if you're trying to lose weight.

Just a thought -- asking people's opinions about comparing the two programs, ON the forum for one program, will yield you a pretty biased sample. Not surprisingly at all, most people have said that they prefer MFP. Duh! They're still here! Ask a similar question on the WW site, and your responses would likely be different.

Love it. Although, calling it the "Human Diet" made me think of cannibalism... so I'm on board with "Common Sense"

Bumping for curiosity!

Thanks all! The support on MFP is truly helpful -- as is the site in general. It feels so good to be taking control of my life again!

Mine (non-digital) was $6 + shipping ($8 total) on Amazon -- best investment I've ever made! I just keep it on the counter above the kitchen sink and weigh anything that I'm not already sure on the calories for. Fruit, meat, pasta, granola, and snack things like peanuts or almonds are things that I weigh daily. Highly…

Math nerd here :) If I have the time, I'll do it. If not, just divide your weight lost by your original weight. You'll get a decimal, move the point 2 spots to the right and that's your percent lost.

holy cow you look fantastic!! Congrats on your achievement! :flowerforyou:

I agree, but I think that both are important! What about having 2 winners? A %-lost winner and a lbs-lost winner? Really everyone that loses wins though  My starting weight Sunday April 24th = 159.6 lbs. My weight on Saturday April 30th = My total weight lost for this week =

Haha -- I HATE those horrible side lunges with arm raises! I'm not sure if it's the actual move that's hard or if it's because it's the last strength move, but they near kill me every time! Good luck to you

I'm in! I'll fill in the starting weight in the am

Anything will make you fat if you eat enough of it :ohwell:

Mine is my region of the country (west coast, best coast, left coast, golden coast!) + I'm finishing up my master's degree in Social Work -- SW.
