Congratulations to the OP! What a fantastic day so far :) "non-scale victory" it brings the post back up in the message boards. also saves it under "my topics" as things you've replied to, if you want to review them later

hahaha that is *adorable*!

"Non-Scale Victory"

Holy cow that is fantastic!! What an inspiration! I hope to be able to do that someday soon

I agree 100%! :drinker:

There is a LOT of discussion on this topic around the message boards. Search for things like "eat exercise calories" and check out some of the thumbtack-sticky posts at the tops of the categories, such as http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/23912-links-in-mfp-you-want-to-read-again-and-again.

BUMPing to add myself to this thread -- full time grad student here, busting through finals! :grumble:

No formal "diet," just changing the way that I eat in general. I do try to follow the goals I have on MFP though; calories first priority (staying near or under), fats and sodium and carbs second (staying near or under), and then protein and fiber (meeting the minimum, hopefully more). But trying to achieve these goals in…

bump!

You have a talent for drawing life-like people! I really enjoyed the hand and foot studies

Secrecy happens to be a hallmark symptom of most eating disorders. The OP does need more help than a message board is able to provide. But yelling, ranting, and declaring "Troll" do not help either. Nor does declaring someone "not a real person" and her problems "not real issues". Feel free to offer support or find another…

I second this!

Then that is the perfect place to start. Work on building a supportive system around you. We all need relationships that help us to grow as people (not just in weightloss, but in life). I truly encourage you to find someone you can reach out to, even if that's on this site - as I said, friend me and I will talk to you…

This may just be the therapist in me (I'm an MSW-in-training), but I see far bigger issues than your weight loss and diet going on here. A "goal I'll probably never reach for as long as I live" is not a goal, that's setting yourself up for failure and disappointment. A goal needs to be measurable and realistic. By your…

Hollywood here -- it's gorgeous out, but I'm in the midst of grad school finals :( Two more weeks of school and I'll be hitting the beach daily!

Here's my two cents, based on my own experiences and meanderings on this site: 1. You seem to eat a lot of carbs. Maybe try to cut back on those? When I tried this, I began eating hard-boiled eggs and fruit (I know, still sugar) instead of cereal for breakfast; salads or yogurt-parfaits (with nuts, granola, whatever) for…

I've often thought this way too, and it makes sense to me. So I am interested to see if anyone offers some research/evidence-based rationale. So what if I walk around weighing 5-10 pounds more than I would without the water weight, right? (I mean, I'd rather not, but I'm talking about the theory.)

[sorry- double post]

According to http://www.self.com/calculatorsprograms/calculators/happyweight, my "happy weight" should be 132 lbs. I've been aiming for 140, so I'll see once I get in that neighborhood I guess. And apparently I'm "small framed" -- my wrist is barely 5" around. Who knew?

Completing 7 consecutive days of exercise is a success in my book :)

I recently watched a movie/documentary called "Food Matters" that addressed these types of issues. It looked predominately at nutrition, and especially vitamins, as "curing" or alleviating symptoms. I highly recommend checking it out! (It's on Netflix "Watch Instantly" if you have an account with them.)

Thanks for the recipe! I've been craving meatloaf lately. Do you think you have to use a broiler pan? Or can I make it in a loaf-pan as well?
-
1400 for me, set to lose 1.0 lbs/week. I generally exercise 5-6 days/week also and eat most of those calories as well.

I highly recommend the reading the following thread: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/204180-slow-weight-loss-is-a-fair-game It's not deeply profound but it allowed me to gain a much better perspective on my weight loss journey. Good luck to you and stick with it!

What others have said, and I would add that alcohol can deplete your system of water to the point of dehydration (when you pee it all out that night and then feel thirsty/hungover the next day). So it's possible that some of the lost weight is depleted water and will come back once you rehydrate your system. But I do think…

I agree with several of the above ideas -- I was going to suggest donating your food to the homeless. But hosting a get-together at your house (weekly?!) could also work. But whatever you do, don't let all that food sit at home with you, that's just setting you up for bad news!
-
Haha -- that reminds me of a Winston Churchill one as well: - Bessie Braddock: “Sir, you are drunk.” - Churchill: “Madam, you are ugly. In the morning, I shall be sober.”
-
Well said and I agree 100% (see above post). :flowerforyou:

I HATE the term "cheat." HATE IT. :grumble: This isn't a game and you're not "cheating" anyone besides yourself. That little rant out of the way, I have a standing date with my roommate every week: Thursday night is pizza & beer night in our apartment. It keeps us sane during grad school. If I have the time, I sometimes…
