  • I'm a full-time student and intern as well, so I'm gone from 7 am - 5 pm most days of the week. I try to bring 2 meals plus 2-3 small snacks (or maybe 1-2 bigger snacks). An insulated lunch bag and a frozen ice pack to go inside are lifesavers! Main meal items: Greek yogurt with granola or walnuts to mix in Peanut-butter…
  • THIS! I tell people this all the time when anyone asks me how I've lost weight or complains about why they can't. Some of my other faves are in my signature and photo  [edited for grammar :ohwell:]
  • KIND bars are also good and made with ingredients you can pronounce. I don't use them as meal replacements, per se, but they're definitely great as a bigger snack (180-210 calories each).
  • bumping to save for later -- biscuits and gravy is my FAVORITE breakfast! yummm thanks :)
  • Thanks, all, for the ideas! Off to the store I go :)
  • Just did Day-3, Level-1. Not that bad! My muscles still hurt from Days 1 & 2, but I can keep up okay. Looking forward to Day 31 (Rest Day!!)
  • Would anyone mind if I join you all? I just got the Shred and started Day 1 yesterday (April 4), so I just missed the first 3 days. And of course, I'll be continuing for a few days into May. But I love it so far (one day in, ha!). Off to start Day 2...
  • As a rough analogy, I view it similarly to maintaining a budget and a bank account. Once you *know* how to budget, it's no big deal, comes naturally, and poses few problems. However, that said, clearly there are more than a few people who struggle with getting to that point (myself included, 100%!). So I look at this…
  • I agree with you -- the 6 months in-patient isn't as real-life-like so it's harder to buy into. But I still love watching "Heavy" and "I used to be fat" when that was on earlier this season. I really like that the shows aren't competitions.

  • Actually, I tend to weigh LESS after a night of drinking because the alcohol causes you to lose water. (Hangover, dehydration, anyone?) I usually gain the weight back by the end of the next day, but weighing myself the morning after a good happy hour feels nice too
  • First, congrats to you on your progress! You look great and you sound like you're much healthier! Second, you're inspiring me, as I have nearly all of your stats! 24 years old, 5'7, started at 181, working toward 140-ish. I've only been at it for about 6 months and so far I'm down 17 pounds, so not quite halfway. Thank you…
  • BUMP -- it is definitely tank-top season in southern California!
  • EASY to give up: red meat, sodas/soft drinks, cream cheese (bleh!), potato chips, "sweet-tooth" stuff like ice cream, cookies, cake Still my pitfalls: SALTY food (including french fries), corn chips + salsa/guac, pizza, BEER and WINE :drinker:
  • check out this recent thread for some inspiration  http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/204180-slow-weight-loss-is-a-fair-game
  • Thanks all! Even on days when I go over, I'm still only eating about 30 grams and I don't have any problems in the bathroom, so I'm not worried. I am trying to drink more water though. Just wanted to run it by you all -- thanks
  • As others have mentioned, maybe you can try adding one new ingredient item at a time. Also, try searching these forums for "5 favorite healthy foods" posts, where MFP people have posted their favorites. Those might give you some ideas for things that are fairly healthy (think fruits, nuts, various meats/fish/poultry, eggs,…
  • BUMP-ing for every time in the future that I resist exercising :)
  • I think I gained 50 pounds in 8 years. I've lost 18 pounds in 6 months. I like this perspective -- thank you!
  • Congrats! That's such a fantastic feeling! Also, I've been going to thrift stores and places like Ross, TJ Maxx, and Marshall's to buy myself new clothes before I get down to my ultimate target weight. It feels like a little splurge but we should look good in clothes too!
  • Playing the devil's advocate for a moment, what's with the magical **120-lbs** ? I mean, it's a nice number and all, but I think most people's weights fluctuate within 5 pounds or so throughout the day or the week. Depends on how much water you've drank lately, when you last pooped, what mood your scale's in, etc. (But in…
  • Thanks, guys, for the support! It's relieving to know I'm not alone! I feel like I've tried everything, but I'm willing to keep trying with the foul-tasting polish and/or chewing gum. I *hate* to think of what will happen (and what already has happened) to my teeth because of the biting :frown: And I love the measuring…
  • BUMP -- I don't have a remedy, but my shins are KILLING me this week, so I'm interested to see what others post...
  • Well don't eat both mats! Then where would you exercise off all those calories?
  • And I thought the U.S. was bad! Let alone having to combine both systems. I've always gotten a kick out of explaining American/English measurements to the eastern European kids that I used to work with every summer
  • Very well said! "Cheating" on calories makes it seem as though you're a split personality and one is cheating on the other. I prefer to think of it as the little angel and devil on my shoulders; neither of them IS me, but both influence me. MY responsibility is to reconcile both. Cheating implies doing something wrong, and…
  • watching "Heavy" on A&E -- one of my favorites lately
  • Bumping also. Alfredo is one of my ultimate downfalls!
  • bumping for later -- lots of great ideas!
  • First, you look great! Congratulations! Second, thank you for the reminder. I often get bummed about weeks with little or no loss, but in the long run, I am moving in the right direction. Thank you :flowerforyou:
  • As a side note, if you set your rate to "active" due to having an active job and also count your exercise calories from work in your daily exercise log, you're actually counting them twice! Correcting this will help you -- you're getting double credit for them right now. I would suggest doing one of two things: either (1)…
