So turns out the weights have arrived and got left at my neighbour's house, so I have no excuse not to start it anymore... thinking that'll be tomorrow morning's plan :P have already agreed to go for a run with my housemate this evening and I don't think I could handle both haha.

This does look amazing, going to have to try it! Are they on the food database on here by any chance?

It is a great idea and I do that with a lot of foods I want - things like pizzas, creamy pasta sauce, that kind of thing, I only buy them very occasionally or otherwise that'd be all I'd eat. But, I do have a stash of sweet things by my desk for the evenings. At the moment it's a packet of ginger snaps, before that it was…

I'm planning to start on Monday, or as soon as the weights I ordered from Sports Direct actually turn up.... Thinking it looks pretty hard! I know I'm going to struggle - at the moment I can't physically do one press up, let alone a minute's worth or whatever it is. It's not that I don't have the motivation to do them,…

I don't actually eat that much for a usual breakfast or lunch anyway - some cereal and a cup of tea, then a sandwich and an apple. Which usually leaves me around 900 calories for dinner, so there's not much I can't fit into there. And if I want more than that, I'll do some exercise to earn it. If I couldn't earn extra…

I have no clue what this thread is about... but I definitely approve

Heya, I'm from Norfolk now living in London so not all that close, but much closer than America! There is also a group forum (which I only discovered yesterday) on here called Team UK if you're interested :)

I seem to be completely the opposite to everyone else here - I actually find running on a treadmill to be harder than running outside! When you're indoors with a treadmill, it is generally hotter and stuffier, you have limited space if you have long legs, and more than anything else I find it so hard to keep running when I…

Unfortunately, with 3 weeks to go before end of year exams, the only world outside this rectangular screen is in a textbook  So I need to put my newsfeed on my screen to escape from revision websites!

I only just found this group too! Had never even thought to look for one... great idea though. I'm from Norfolk but living in London at the moment for university. I couldn't believe it yesterday reading about flash floods and landslides on train tracks,.. it was about 28 degrees and brilliant sunshine here all day!

Helloooo! I am living in Camden during term time, studying at UCL (split between Euston area, Hampstead and Archway). Am a bit too scared of getting lost to go running on Hampstead Heath but Regent's Park has become my friend recently!

I tend to have breakfast about half an hour before I need to go out, so usually around 8am. But when I have no teaching in the morning I won't have breakfast til 11/12. Then dinner is normally around 7/7.30pm depending on what else I plan to do in the evening. I've noticed that I eat 1/3-1/2 of my calories just in my…

I love them! It's cheap, convenient, and (in my opinion) very reasonably priced considering the variety of things you get, in sensible sized portions, that would cost a fortune if you went out to buy them all separately. But maybe that's just me :) A fair few of the boxes have less than 100 calories in as far as I can…

Thanks :D

Here's hoping this will work... High school prom in 2007, I was 16, about 5'10'', maybe around 147lbs, and the dress is a UK size 8. I still have it, but I would be very very surprised if I could ever fit into it again! I wear a size 10-12 now but still.... an 8 seems tiny!

Yeah I know, it is awful. It's amazing how you can change the findings of an entire study by taking a tiny bit of data and extrapolating it to cover the whole country! Something about the actual organic food: in the UK, I would buy organic meat ALL the time if I could afford it, but I'm a poor student so I buy organic eggs…

These 2 comments were my exact thoughts on reading this post. I didn't actually read the article, but maybe the only people who signed up to their study were the self-righteous ones who wanted to brag about eating organic. If they really did only show people pictures of organic foods as someone mentioned, then it reminds…

Personally, I would have whatever you fancy, just make sure that you eat sensible-sized portions. If I order chinese, I tend to get an egg-fried rice and a chicken chow mein (simply because I can't ever decide whether to get something with rice or something with noodles) and eat half of each, then have the rest for dinner…

I am well aware that being diabetic means you do not create enough insulin for yourself. However, having more sugar in your blood does not make you lose weight. I cannot understand your logic. Also, low blood sugar does not make you have more insulin floating around in there. If you are injecting insulin, as this is now…
-
I would love you to explain to me how you think the fat gets there.
-
What? High blood sugar leads to more insulin release which leads to more uptake of glucose into cells where it is converted into storage carbohydrates, which stay in your body. Low blood glucose leads to glucagon release which leads to glycogen store breakdown to give you glucose to fuel your cells.

Broken biscuits don't count, because they aren't whole biscuits. Biscuits that you eat in the dark don't count, because you can't see them. Really thin biscuits don't count if you eat them side-on, I guess because they are really thin and therefore you kind-of can't see them either... Anyone seeing a recurring theme here?!…

I think it is entirely up to you! Saying you are eating empty calories sounds like a load of twoddle though. If you want 3 whites and only 1 yolk, then eat 3 whites and 1 yolk. If you really like the yolks, maybe exchange 1 white for 1 yolk and just have 2 whole eggs. I honestly think the nutritional difference between the…

Yep I always have the same feeling when I try to put on a pair of shorts or a nice dress and realise they don't come anywhere near doing up! That is one of the major reasons I started using this site too - just to make the clothes fit.
-
Shorts, I boil to death running in shorts and a vest top so anything that covers my whole legs would make me want to curl up and die from heat exhaustion! I just try to buy slightly longer than average shorts so they don't ride up
-
I am 5'10" and started at 168 lbs, so also don't have "all that much" to lose - for me it's more about fitting into the clothes that have started getting too tight than actually how much I weigh. I also noticed that 1200 wasn't enough if I didn't have time to exercise that day, but now I'm aiming for 1650 (or something, I…

Is 2% the same as semi-skimmed in the UK? I find full-fat milk to be too sickly, and skimmed milk to be a bit too much like funny coloured water, so I would always pick semi-skimmed all the way. But that's purely because of what I like the taste of, not what is "better" for me!

I've not done an official 5k ever, but have entered the race for life 5k in a few weeks time with my mum (she needs something to motivate her into exercising so this is how we're going to do it!). But last week I ran what walkjogrun.net told me was 5.3k in 33 minutes with some friends. I'm 23 :) but I don't think age makes…

I am definitely of the opinion that these things are open to debate - there might not be any scientific evidence for them, but there is also no scientific evidence against them, because nobody has bothered to do a proper randomised trial. If they seem to be working for you then go for it, if they don't work then you'll…
