  • I'm at Pure Gym at Bournemouth. Pretty good for the next to nothing I pay for it. I only train with the free weights and they have a fairly decent set up. Loads of cardio equipment and open 24/7. I do have to pick my times to train though as trying to get a squat rack anytime between 9am and 9pm is a pain in the *kitten*
  • Eating high carb usually means one is eating a lot of sugar. Any carbs gives an insulin spike and aids in weight gain. Eating low carb actually works just as the OP has suggested and it an excellent method to aid weight loss. ultimately its about eating in deficit but I find much more maintainable when I have my blood…
  • You can use supersets for same muscles. E.G- you can superset DB flies with bench. Reason being maybe your triceps fail before your chest.
  • When I say a strength increase I mean either the amount of slow controlled reps I get out with the same weight as last time has come up, the weight has gone up (due to me reaching my goal of 8 reps with a set) sometimes a combination of both. I would imagine my 1 rep max on all lifts has gone up but to be honest I hardly…
  • I put mine in a skirt a stockings with high heels
  • I'll give you my opinion based on my experience of over 10 years of training and a lot of reading. I used to train 'high volume' approach albeit it on a well structured routine based on progression such as a push, pull, legs 5x5, 3 days a week based around big compounds (you get the idea) After reading a lot of books and…
  • Also pretty impressive all the research and discovery of the health benefits they found too.
  • Yes, I'm not using it for weight loss. I'm about as light as I'd like to be and hovering around 12% BF right now. Using IF for the health benefits, hormonal changes during the fast and psychological aspect. I like going without for 24 hours just to remind me that food is not needed every 3-4 hours such as conventional…
  • Totall agree with this.
  • 20g on a very strict day 120g on a very bad day that falls on a workout day
  • I practice intermittent fasting. I do 24 hours once a week, its working great for me combined with a paleo type diet. The first fast was hard but then it gets easier. You should the e book 'eat stop eat' and look at leangains.com for more info
  • You have hit the nail on head. Conventional wisdom is flawed and is the reason half of America (and a large number in the UK) are fat and riddled with associated diseases. Fat is not the enemy, even saturated fats. Transfat and hydro fat are to be avoided but natural fats from animals and plants (un tampered with) are…
  • I've been IF for nearly a month now and its working great along side my low carb, high fat, high protien diet. The book above noted 'Eat Stop Eat' is a great read. This is pretty much the method I use. I go 24 hours without eating a thing (usually from 19:00 Friday to 19:00 Saturday) Dropped a nice amount of BF so far.…
  • LOL- Yeah it is funny. I didn't say I never enjoy myself ;) . That pic was taken a while back but having a binge session with my friends every few months is part of my lifestyle being maintainable, once its done though 'm back on it As for carbs and workouts- Now my body has adjusted to feeling energised all the time I…
  • I pretty much eat Paleo, that is low carb high fat, moderate protein and I been intermittent fasting for about 3 weeks now. I simply have a 24 hour period when I don't eat. Typically this is between 19:00 Friday night to 19:00 Saturday night. This day works for me as I'm not usually doing all that much activity during…
  • These are both solid routines in my opinion (Wendler 5/3/1 and stronglifts) and anybody would do well to use them. Deads and squats are the two biggies and as such should burn you down the most. I am seriously dead after both these exercises and staggar them each over a push and pull respectively.
  • Nothing like the crack pipe to wake you up and motivate you
  • What he said about what she said about what he said
  • I think most people grossly over training. In my opinion there is no requirement to be in the gym 4-5 days as many people do. Its counter productive. People blindly follow some stupid routine (prescribed by the cover model who is likely injecting steroids) that they have read in a magazine. I think people would be best…
  • Totally agree.
  • Doing sit ups and push ups is not better. Its just different. its easier to increase resistance and intensity with weights though. Making progress is the key (lifting more or doing mor reps). A simple weight training routine (which can include press ups and sit ups if you really want) is good, but you must look at the diet…
  • Have started doing this the last few weeks. My gym is open 24/7 so I train both my push and pull sessions at 10PM. Nobody in the gym which is cool, I Also find it a good time to workout for some reason, I feel energized and up for lifting. Not much of a morning trainer personally
  • Classic!
  • Not to mention the fact that many elite body builders/fitness models and movie starts who's bodies we aspire to are usually doing more than "chugging protein" and usually shooting 400mg in their glutes every 7 days
  • The gym I go to has people regularly doing stupid things like Bicep curls in the squat racks or some other stupid non-existent exercise in the racks- All the while sometimes people like me are waiting to do squats or benches! I've mentioned to the management that they should be putting notices up or telling people doing…
  • A good low impact plan would be to just keep your diet in strict check.
  • sounds identical to my work food . You can't beat a good salad
