I didn't read all of the other posts but here's my two cents. Just stop. I have the biggest sweet tooth and always find myself over indulging but if you can make it through the first week your sugar cravings subside tremendously and the longer you go, the sweeter the food gets and the less you can tolerate. I've found the…

Well they are easily spotted for those who know what they're looking for. Doesn't added sugar in packaged foods have like 60 different names (or more)? I stick to fresh (not even frozen) produce and meats so I don't have that problem but I know when my parents started trying to eat healthier they ran into those "hidden"…

I feel like sugar is something people assume aren't in processed meats because logically sugar shouldn't be in meat. If you buy your own ground meat and make your own sausage then you know what's in it but most people I talk to assume that store bought breakfast or link sausage (like jimmy dean's "natural" pork breakfast…

I probably did!

I eat broccoli and asparagus every night for dinner but usually have them with rice (which whole30 doesn't allow) and with whatever sauce I include on my meat. Sometimes I'd put some braggs liquid aminos on them and/or include them in stir fry with chicken. Plus I used seasonings that I guess aren't whole30 compliant due…

How's your whole 30 going so far? I started mine today!

I just started whole30 today and I'm doing updates on my profile at the end of everyday. So far it's been less than awesome (food wise). Learning curve I guess. Feel free to add me!

I also have a herniated disc and have found that yoga really helps with the sciatica, take a look on youtube for some good free videos. As far as weight lifting goes, I've been advised to avoid squats and deadlifts. However, the leg press machine is a good sub for squats because it gives good back support. Everything else…

I lift weights and do body weight things (lunges, planks, etc.) and I hate salads! I spent all summer eating a salad for lunch and hated it. I am more active during my days now. I went from essentially sitting on my booty all day to walking a good 3 miles throughout my day and then spending time in the gym. Also, I eat…

Well thank you all! This is the first time I have been able to proudly share a NSV. I don't even know why I'm so happy about it, it's pretty small but I'm so pumped about it. :)

Thank you!

Good post. I've noticed a lot of people that use "lifting" and "heavy lifting" interchangeably. Weights are supposed to feel a bit heavy, but that doesn't mean you're heavy lifting! Especially when people start talking about doing 3 sets of 15 reps (which is what I do). Look forward to reading more of the comments later!

Strength training is key. Although not heavy lifting (heavy lifting would be with a weight that you could only complete 5 or so reps) aim for a weight that you can complete 12-15 reps, and 2 sets (eventually 3 or 4 sets). I hired a trainer at my gym who has educated me A LOT about strength training. I assumed that since I…

Try a sugar detox. I did one after coming off a 3 week vacation where I lived off fast food, junk food, and restaurants. It really helped with the cravings. I also have a friend that swears by the Dr. Oz smoothie detox (I think it's a green smoothie detox) which you drink every meal for 2 or 3 days. It's super packed with…

You look fantastic! Way to go!

http://www.bodyfatguide.com/LooseSkin.htm There's a nice little article that talks about loose skin. Definitely worth a read! I just found it and wanted to share it on a few "extra skin" related posts I've seen on here. Plus it's nice to read something that doesn't just rely on surgery. I for one would like to keep all my…

I don't have much advice to give you as I've only lost 30 pounds so far, but I did stumble across this article recently that you may like to read. http://www.bodyfatguide.com/LooseSkin.htm

In my experience, yoga. It sounds silly to work the muscles that are sore, but the stretching releases the soreness. AND use eucalyptus. If you can find this stuff called Olba's oil, that's the best. It's a liquid usually in the health food section at the grocery store. (http://www.olbas.com/) If you can't find that, then…
