That's fantastic, Jen!!!

Do a search and I think you'll find several previous posts about this. I don't avoid eating my exercise calories and I don't TRY to eat my exercise calories. I view those extra available calories as my "cheat" calories. If I want dessert and I have enough exercise calories tagged on, then I can have dessert. If I didn't…

Okay.... 1) You can tell this is MOSTLY a forum for women, and 2) The Kardashians are all hot (except for the mom), and 3) If you get those guys covered with honey, etc then I get Jessica Biel and Kate Beckinsale to cover in honey and have a cheat day... right? Oh, wait... asking the wrong folks. I'm pretty sure my wife…

The only focus I put on my protein and carbs is how it relates to my overall intake in proportion. When I first started MFP my protein intake was way low so after I'd lost the first few pounds my body started fighting further loss. I had to adjust my intake. For me that meant adding a protein bar each day to my diet. With…

Way to go!!! Keep up the great work!

Welcome, Jeski!! The biggest secret (I've learned) to benefiting from this site is to BE HERE. Visit five or six times each day. Set up your signature, goals, ticker, etc. Let this become a hobby and do your best. Motivation is all around you here. The people are fantastic. The info available is great. Even if you stumble…

Don't know if Wii Fit has changed their programming. For me it is Advanced Step that had to be unlocked after doing a certain amount of Basic Step and achieving certain scores.

Irapunzel; You are exactly right but the difference between my Wii weight (at end of workout, same time each day) is about 13 pounds lighter than my spring scale on the bathroom floor. I figure as long as I only use ONE to project my weight loss I'm good to go.

Thanks Kidviscious!

So, here's a walking question... How do you know how many calories you burn? When I log my walking time, even though I'm walking ABOUT 4mph I use the available 3-3.5 mph and take credit for those calories burned. I assume I'm burning more than that but have no way of knowing - cause I haven't learned yet. I'm going to be…

Even the Navy SEALs reduce how much they run in their third week of training to reduce the chance of stress fractures. Ease up... walk instead of run; or run less - less distance or every other day or something. Let your body heal.

I saw this thread and thought, "Cool. Walking... I'm good at that. Been marching most of my adult life." Then I saw stratdl's time!!! HOLY $%)*$*&#*!!! My walk speed avg's 4mph or about 6kph. She's kickin' it at 10kph! I need to up my speed by more than 50% to do what she's doing. Here I was proud of doing 4.5 miles in 78…

Jax; One thing my mentors reminded me of when I started out is that muscle weighs more than fat. Burning fat off can be fairly easy. Toning the muscles (or building them while burning fat) may result in minor weight gains. Additionally, just by eating a teaspoon of salt one day you can retain as much as a 1/2 gallon of…

If you search the posts (good luck) you'll find someone was nice enough to put up info about average calories burned using Wii Fit. It worked out to about 8 calories per minute of exercise. There are also entries available for things like "Boxing" or "step aerobics" which are exercises you can do on the Wii Fit. Good luck!

I confess that I eat all my calories AND my exercise calories most days. I confess that I'm not giving up grapes. They're a whole lot better than munching popcorn before bed. I confess that I'll (probably) never give up pure sugar for my coffee and tea. I confess that I was raised on whole milk and that's what I'll drink…

check out www.fitdeck.com. It's a card game... different every day... but work outs just the same.

Way to go, JB!!!

Weekly Check in: Completed 336 minutes last week... five hours and change. Goal was 270 minutes so I think I did okay! Now I have to get my morning workload done so I can get some more time in!

AND I confess that I'm going to go clean some grapes and ENJOY THEM. What's up with that? I thought they were at least okay if they aren't actually good for you? My other choice is a bowl of lucky charms so I'm sticking with the grapes!

I confess that I had a swiss bacon cheeseburger for lunch with a side of onion rings. It was SO good... I confess that - no matter my focus on healthy living - I still enjoy my occasional cigars...

ddakota: I have the opposite experience. I can get on the Wii, weigh in, work out and be down five pounds. It just doesn't happen like that so I wonder what's up? Here's what I'm thinking (and I may be completely off): My family room - where I do anything on my Wii - is carpeted. The more stable the platform is for the…

Don't let it bug you. Wii Fit said I was OBESE... and now I'm JUST overweight! I've got 18 pounds to go before it says I've got a "normal" BMI... but truth be told that may be TOO skinny for my bone structure. We'll have to wait and see.

I have a military background so used to only think in terms of calisthenics and running. Now that I'm a bit older (but I refuse to say "middle aged") I've learned to appreciate: The Wii Fit - using mostly the step aerobics and rhythm boxing segments. The strength training sections are good but the time spent vs time…

OK: Help the mentally challenged... kcal? thousandths of a calorie? I usually shoot for a 500 calorie per day "credit" because my usual food intake runs about 2200 cals. That's my MAINTENANCE calorie amount, so if I burn 500 cal per day exercising then I'm meeting my goals...

I got a Wii Active for Father's Day. That means I have: Wii Fit (that I'm kinda burned out on because I've done it so much) Gold's Gym Cardio Bixing for the Wii Wii Active I want to mix and match so that I don't get bored but keep getting good exercise times and efficiency. Any suggestions?

It's absolutely safe PROVIDED you're in respectable shape to DO it and not OVERDO it. The key to not getting burned out, if you're gonna do "two a days" is to make sure they are different. Don't do the same thing in the morning as you do in the afternoon. For instance, do aerobics in the morning and walk in the afternoon,…

TheMaidofAstolat: cool avatar. What is "Astolat"? Abstratct: my daughter says chocolate is medicinal. Stands by that. soxygirl: LOL. Should it be "sExygirl" instead? ;-) vrdz3215: please tell me you mean sushi and ice cream separately?! I just can't imagine them mixed... ewww...

I was told by a very wise man (who lost fifty pounds over the course of two years and now, in his late 60s is a competitive body builder) that EVERYONE has ups and downs. I have some great weeks where I exercise every day, sometimes doubling up, and eat my plan and do GREAT. Other weeks I feel hungry all the time, over eat…
