Thanks for all the feedback and answers. Greatly appreciated!

Sign me up. Sounds like extra motivation to me!

wow. Glad I searched and found this. Had a WAY high sodium intake day yesterday and am holding about four pounds of water I think. Makes sense looking at your numbers. Also good to know there's a potassium offset. THANKS!!!
-
thanks chopstixfour1. I just figured out what I can have for a semi-healthy snack and get to about 1170. close enough! I'm sure I missed a few calories someplace... I appreciate al the feedback folks!
-
myfitnessval: thanks. I am not so worried about whether or not I eat my calories back as I am about whether or not I have to insure a net intake of at least 1200 calories per day.

punkmom1962: thanks for the reply. To add to the confusion: when I laid out my goals MFP gave me a BMR of 2200 (about) but their BMR calculator on the tools page only gives me a little over 1700. If that's the case, I'm not cutting any calories from my BMR at all. MORE confusion. :-)

Thanks all!!! New piece of info assimilated...

Not to sound totally stupid, but what's "NSV"?

I am a huge fan of ellipticals for exercise, BUT - yes, the calorie counts CAN be off. In my experience it depends on the make / manufacturer / model. It also depends on what software models the machine is using to measure your calories burned. As everyone has said, it's an estimate. My elliptical calories burned number…

In my experience, for the first few days, A&D Ointment, enough to keep it moist - not saturated - is necessary. Some folks have reactions to the A&D so polysporin is a good alternative. (and available in much smaller packaging so you can take it places with you). For the first day or two (which may have already passed - I…

southern Maryland... but aiming at midwest soon...

Congrats! They look GREAT!!

Thought better of this... was meant to be a joke but was worried folks might take it the wrong way.

well-fitted slacks AND hooker boots? Well, you're making MY New Year's brighter!!!! (evil grin). That's fantastic news and GOOD FOR YOU. That's what it's all about.

I am only 1.5 miles away from 50!!! woo hoo!!!!
-
I hope you washed the socks first? :-)
-
added 4.7 miles today! Total just over 43 miles now... As long as I can get to the gym to get ON the elliptical I can make that 50 mile challenge!!!
-
Okay.. heading to the gym: I need 11 miles to meet the 50 mile challenge. I've got four days to do that in so it SHOULDN'T be an issue (now that I'm not snowed in anymore). Who's still on track? (except you vhuber... we know you blew this out of the water weeks ago!!!) :-)
-
UGH... so it's the day after the day after Christmas (27th) and I'm freaking snowed in AGAIN. I can't get to an elliptical until I can get to the gym so I'm stuck burning calories on my Wii Fit and my BowFlex. Unless the snow clears up I may not get enough time at the gym to actually MAKE my 50 mile mark and it's eating me…

CONGRATS!!! YOU GO GIRL!!! That's why you look like you do... I'm still working on being as svelte... MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
-
32.5 miles added today! 39.15 mile total. 10.85 miles to go in the next seven days. At 2.3 miles per "set" I need six sets to break that 50 mile mark. How's everyone else doing?

1998 when I was in the National Guard. I was 34 years old.

Until you manage to reduce the thigh circumference, have you tried wearing the long under armor "boy" shorts? They reach almost to your knees and provide slick movement between your thighs. (It's my wife's solution until she loses the weight necessary so her thighs don't rub together)
-
Yuck... I hope it recovers soon. Next month we're going to increase to sixty!! (he says confidently and full of himself bright and early in the morning)
-
Alright... I added another 4.6 miles today taking my total to over 35. 15 more to go in 9 days... minus Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve. Hmmm... 15 miles in six days... a half hour per day will do it... but if I go an HOUR each of those six days, I could get 4 miles six times and end up closer to 60 miles.…

gotta agree with the hubby, all the foregoing men and the complimentary ladies. You're doing great and looking it!

I'm here!! Hitting the gym later this morning (finally) so I can add to my mileage. I think in January I'm also going to do a "move your *kitten*" challenge so I can track ALL my miles. I know I've walked plenty this month and in January I'll be at a convention one week. That week USUALLY entails me walking ten+ miles PER…
-
Hey all!!! What's the progress? Who's on track? December is almost 2/3 over so we should all be at least about 31 miles in (give or take). I'm at 29 and holding for the past several days. Due to weather I haven't been able to get to the gym. Thank goodness that'll change tomorrow!! (maybe even today).

Ugh; I get up at five to work every day anyway... to work out before that I have to get up at FOUR. Okay... I'll give it a shot. I can't wait to hear what my wife says when the alarm clock goes off that early so I can go work out. :-)
