  • I'm really sorry for your loss. I can't imagine what you went through.
  • I'm so so sorry for your loss. You are not alone and the emotional healing is hard but there's always hope for a better future. Focusing on weight loss will hopefully help me to get through the next few months.
  • Thank you all! This is really encouraging. I just felt the need to explain or share...I don't know. I just had to get it out.
  • Whoa! You look amazing! You look completely different! Great job!!!!!
  • lol I didn't even put the two together.
  • I refuse to wear my pencil skirts. They spin around and don't even fit under my shirts (like if I wear a shirt that drapes over the top of the skirt). They are really big! Also, I'm on the last inner hole of my belts and I can't keep the waist of my pants sandwiched between the belt and my skin anymore. There's just a belt…
  • Unfortunately, I'm friends with (we're growing apart) someone who falls into so many MLMs (5Linx, and now this ItWorks mess) and she has a before and after photo. I've known her for over 10 years. The before photo is from college when she gained the freshman 15. She doesn't work (she's a lawyer "with her own business"),…
  • cheese and nuts - bad frozen yogurt - good
  • IT is a pyramid scheme. There is no wrap, cream, pill, or shake that can replace education about good nutrition and good ol' fashioned hard work. Weigh your food, log your meals, and drink your water. Workout for heart health and to build strength and voila... a healthier lifestyle for free!
  • With a baby that young, I wouldn't push myself too much. Walking is fine for now. I was always afraid of doing too much (dieting or exercise) and ruining my milk supply. :(
  • I have a 10 month old. I stopped nursing when she was about 6 months. I just ate a reasonable diet until I was done with nursing. I didn't start my postpartum weight loss journey (like going to the gym and actually eating at a deficit) until she was about 9 months old. Honestly, it took me a few months to really get a…
  • I don't. But I'm not really into fast food. I prefer to eat at restaurants every once in a while or cook something new at home if I want something really good. I can't even tell you the last time I ate at a McDonalds. I think the last time I had fast food was on Memorial Day weekend. We stopped at Chik Fil A and I had a…

  • if i feel the need to have something sweet, i try to get chocolate that's individually wrapped and only in really limited quantities. i eat like one square of chocolate. i also have nonfat frozen yogurt at home. that helps. i mainly drink red wine during that time and i allow for it in my deficit. usually working out a lot…

  • avocado and salmon are my favorites.
  • At the beginning, I was hungry all the time. I would inhale my meals in like 5 minutes. But eventually my body learned to do more with less. Now, if I try to eat a huge plate of food, I'm struggling at the end with a lot of food still left. When we ordered Indian food, I could eat the entire container full of food in one…
  • Amazing transformation! You look great!!
  • I lost 6 lbs in like 3 or 4 weeks and then it stalled and reversed. The scale showed me gaining steadily up to 3 lbs but all the while, my clothes were getting looser and looser. I worked out consistently and my nutrition was in a deficit. Then all of a sudden (last week into this week), the scale started dropping. I had…
  • I motivate myself. I've always been a self starter. I say I'm going to do something, I create a plan, and I do it. I just accept the fact that there will be awesome days, horrible days, days where I think "what's the point", but I pick up and keep going every day until I meet the goal. And now that I have a daughter, I…
  • I miss potato chips. Based on the other things that I need to eat, there is no way they can fit into my calorie budget. I forced in some french fries earlier in the week and I rode that high for like 2 days. It was glorious. I'm barely hitting my numbers during this super busy week full of craziness at work, hardly any…
  • I lift heavy in the gym twice a week and when I do that plus not eating back my exercise calories, the scale shows a fluctuation of +2 to +4 lbs. It's annoying but it's water. I couldn't go to the gym today because of work but the scale is back down to the weight I expected because I'm not holding as much water in my…
  • My advice: 1. Slow down. Heat training is hard work and requires your body to work harder to breathe. Oxygen feeds your muscles and helps them to work properly. You may be tempted to run faster and push yourself, but it's important not to push yourself too much too soon. Eventually your body will adapt but you have to give…
  • I always use the hotel fitness facility for business travel. Even if you're only working out for 30 minutes, it's better than nothing. So my first tip is, pack your workout clothes FIRST. I don't usually travel with other people so I'm more in control of where I eat. You need to be disciplined and not succumb to pressure.…
  • LOL good one! :)
  • London or Berlin would make for a way better BQ race than Baltimore. Most people who try to BQ in Baltimore turn out very disappointed. Good luck with your training!! I will probably run the 5k this time. No time to train for anything over 10 miles these days.
  • Exactly. Someone else said it but for me, I can't rely on BMI completely because of my personal body composition. I can more confidently rely on body fat %.

  • I'm 5'5 and I weigh 169 lbs. MFP first gave me 1200 when I selected a sedentary activity level but it's been increased to 1340 since I changed my activity level to moderate. I work out 4 times a week and I walk to work so I thought the sedentary level was a bit inaccurate.
  • Me too! When I was training for a triathlon AND a full marathon and running in 8 half marathons that same year, I weighed about 146 lbs (my "fighting weight). I was extremely fit and I went in to get a physical. The doctor walked in, head down, looking at her clipboard and the first thing she says is "I see your BMI is…

  • <---My profile pic is from my marathon. I ran one in 2012 (Marine Corps Marathon) and loved it. I hope to run more once I (a) finish having babies and (b) can find enough time in a year to train. It's like having a part time job. haha! I've run the Baltimore Half twice and the organized 20-miler training run with the local…
