No workout today because the gym is closed for President's day or whatever stupid holiday. Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaame!

It's not about PC. It's about the fact that it's none of your business and the person wearing them doesn't give two craps what you think.

The cutting version of ICF is 3 X 5 on the compounds, 2 X 8 on the isolation work. I'm thinking about switching over to ICF from SL.

Today was a good day. I upped my calories a little bit, and it seems to get giving me some extra power. Squats, back up to 100 lbs. 5/5/5/5/4. Didn't get the last one. I fell again, but it was much better than last time-the safety bars were higher and I didn't hit my domepiece at all. After that I did a few practice falls…

Day before yesterday was B workout. Squats 5X5 @ 90lbs. Coming back down from a deload. These felt easy enough. OHP 5X5 @ 60lbs. These were also a deload. Tried the SS hip thrust thing, not 100% sure I'm doing it correctly. DL, only got 2 reps at new weight of 160lbs after warmup of 5 X 115. Maybe I should bump my warmup…

Holiday is correct, the 'behind you' deadlifts are called hack squats. They're mainly a quad exercise.

Todays workout featured multiple deloads. Squats, back down to 90lbs. 5 X 5, plus two warmup sets. Bench, back down to 80lbs. 5 X 5 plus two warmup sets. Ap said to go up 2lbs. My gym neg has fractionals. I think I'm just going to keep w/ 5lbs unless I plateau again. Plus, I do what I want Medhi! Rows, warmup at 45lbs,…

Did a sprint workout for the first time since starting SL. I got a LOT faster, simply from lifting heavy in legs.

Out of curiosity-how old are these people? If they're 40+ I would remind them that weight training is one of the best ways to stave off osteoporosis, and if they're not concerned about that yet, well, they should be. In fact, it would probably behoove them to join you.

It's so funny because it's true.

Dismissing a post about dismissal? Both ironic and meta.

Most people will fail at something at some point in their lives. Part of the whole being human, I'm afraid. It's what you do after failure that counts. We can take this author's approach and beat ourselves over the head w/ what we did wrong, *or* we can move on and vow to be better tomorrow. Tenacity>perfection. And on…

My main issue with this article: In point #2 he complains that people can't stick to a 8 week program. In point #4 he complains that people do x# week programs in the first place. Erm, if these programs are bad, then why do you facilitate them? Also if you're skipping a party because of your diet, you are letting food…

Yesterday there was a dude doing squats with maybe 65 or 70 lbs. Came up on his heels every. single. time. (I was resting between sets on bench, which is how I was able to see him). He then proceeded to bench 135. Ok then.

Yesterday was run day. 9:57 mile. Much better than the previous few times. Today Squat 2 warmup sets, 2 X 5 100 lbs. Got a little shaky on the 3rd set, so stopped. Bench @ 90lbs. 5/5/5/2/3. Ap says to deload. I'm not sure, I think maybe I could hit all my reps if given one more shot-I got a little out of rhythm on my last…

I'm starting to get to the point where grip is becoming a factor in not hitting lifts. Could only finish 3 of 5 DLs, also didn't finish all my squats because my hands were starting to get slippery. Gonna get some chalk over the weekend. Hopefully no one at the gym cares. There's no rules against it.

Today was A day. Squats warm-up plus 5x5 at 95. Legs felt a little bit stiff today. Bench 90 5/3/2 3/4 /3/2 Why 2 3/4 you may ask? Hubs came to the gym with me today and spotted bench. I got stuck and asked for help. Then became un-stuck. No. Yes. No. Finally DH said make up your mind and lifted it up. Hilarious once I no…

That would make sense for the upper body lifts w/ smaller muscle groups. For squats and deads though, there isn't near as much of a gap between men and women noobs. Beginner strength grows in leaps and bounds. Don't let mental barriers keep you from your potential!
-
Sounds like she wasn't really into it. I'm always paranoid about being 'that couple' at the gym. DH and I don't really do the same workout though, we pretty much do our own thing. Except snicker at each other occasionally when the music is really terrible.
-
You could, I guess. But since you're not doing the same exercises every day, I'd think it could potentially get confusing. Also, why?

I keep forgetting to bring flip flops for the gym showers. I've been lucky enough to avoid getting some sort of fungus so far, but luck never lasts forever, and it'll be my own damn fault.

5X5 squats at 90 lbs. OHP-70 lbs, 4/4/3/2/3 DL- 3 reps of 150 lbs Also today I discovered that my gym has a foam roller. OMG. It feels like sweet baby Jesus caressing my quads and glutes. Hurts SOOOOO good.
-
So yesterday I was dicking around w/ body weight squatting in the evelvator(don't laugh) and the 'hip angle' concept from the article Crabada posted finally clicked, and I got the low bar form figured out. I go to the gym today and warm up with the bar in low-bar-yep, still working. Warm up set at 75, yep still working.…

I've noticed that as well. I'm also looking forward to the day when I can eat at maintence, or even, *gasp* a bulk! Supposedly you get some wicked improvement when you go from cut to bulk.

Today was run day (not)funday. 15:55 mile and half. Atrocious.

I just don't know about the looking down part. I tried it after reading the book, and it resulted in the mentioned-on-other-thread falling backwards. But then I've been squatting high-bar, and he writes for low-bar. So I just dunno what to do.
-
I...pansied out of squatting today. On my last workout(at 100lbs) I biffed it and fell backwards. My ego was more bruised than anything else. When I went to squat today I was super paranoid about falling again. So I only did one set and gave up. I think I'm going to deload 10%. Also husband said he will come with next…

My favorite quote of the whole book: "Note that women are not listed as a special population: they are half of the population. Anyone who claims that women are so different in their physiological response to exercise that the principles of basic barbell training do not apply to them is thinking either irrationally or…

Today was a cardio day. I need to shave some seconds off my run time quick so I decided to try hill sprints. OMG. Not for the faint of heart. I thought my lungs were going to explode by the halfway point.

Chapter 2 made a very good point about why everyone likes to do 'bro' exercises-all arms and chest-more than others. Because as humans, we have these nifty hands and we reallllllly like to use them! Chapter 1 also included some useful info on why machines are so popular at gyms nowadays. It kind of pissed me off though. My…
