  • I don't like the sound of " you better do this"... but in one sense, it doesn't matter unless you're prepared to cut off all access, and your husband agrees. Your steps are: make sure you & your husband are on the same page ( so ML doesn't whine to him how mean you're being); tell her you value your, and your family's…
  • Your metabolism & digestion slow down when your sleeping, but the "don't eat after 8:00" rule is pretty arbitrary. Personally, I tend to avoid it because going to bed with a full stomach tends to lead to a restless night., but I haven't noticed it having much to do with weight loss.
  • Go for it and try hard NOT to cheat for at least two weeks. This will help "clear" your system, and then if you want you can try small samples of foods to check for reactions, one food at a time. On the dairy, lactose intolerance will sometimes allow you to eat some cheese and yogurt; an allergy to milk proteins probably…
  • I find it helpful to avoid bread/ buns/ rolls. Stick to smaller portions of meat and see if you can find any vegetables that aren't drowned in butter or fried. Desserts should be considered only after you've logged the days food and made sure you can fit them in.. For breakfasts, try to find unsweetened fruit, and a lower…
  • Warm drinks with lemon and a touch of honey may help... but please note there's some strep going around in my area. You may want to check with a doctor or clinic.
  • Question: am I missing something or did the " stall start about the same time you started eating back your calories? If so, you might try eating back half and see what happens...no idea on the TDEE
  • As little as possible.Usually, my underwear and maybe socks. I discovered last fall that there was almost a pound of weight difference between my summer robe ( thin cotton kimono) and my winter robe ( heavy fleece).
  • Did either doctor check for possible food allergies or intolerances? If you're sure that's not it... you may want to check out a metabolic reset program. If it looks reasonable, DO NOT just get the stuff from Walmart... find a health care professional to supervise and make sure you don't lose muscle mass or develop gall…
  • This one floored me for a minute, as I don't know anyone with "too much" muscle...but then, I'm a middle aged bookkeeper. Generally, muscles are a good thing as they keep your metabolism up. The rules I have gone by are 1) protein goals are a floor (avoid going under); 2) Same thing for fiber; 3) calorie goals are a target…
  • I "pre-log" snacks I fix ahead and take with me. It's easier to do this while the ingredients are fresh in my head. And yes, I eat them
  • Yes, I've lost weight without exercising. In fact, I've seen a study that claimed people lose weight equally well either way...but it is more likely to stay off if you exercise. Which is why I've started to increase my activity level.
  • Yes, I've lost 9 pounds since June 1st, and I'm sedentary. Working out might make you lose faster, and would definitely tone you up better, but I've seen a study that says you can lose weight equally well either way (but the weight is more likely to stay off if you exercise).
  • Once again, doesn't look that bad to me... however, if it bugs you... Since you said the problem started after having your son, you may want to note that pregnancy stretches the abs. "Spot reducing" doesn't work but targeted toning might. The above suggestions about Pilates and /or core strengthening exercises are probably…
  • Body image takes a while to change... one of the reasons it took me so long to get at all serious about losing weight was that I had trouble wrapping my mind around how things had changed ( I was skinny, once, and the weight accumulated slowly). On the other hand, even when I could eat everything in sight and gain nothing,…
  • In my case, I try to stop 3 hours before bed. Try eating a late night snack and see what happens. In my case, late eating causes abdominal cramps around 4 or 5 AM; if you have problems with heartburn, you may not want to go horizontal too soon after eating. If your system is fine with it, go for what works!
  • I am 5' 8' so my personal experience is less relevant -- but my daughter is 5' 2" and looked and felt good around 115 lbs - she did a little modeling at 110 ( remember that you look a little heavier in pictures). Anything below that started to look gaunt, and she reported being exhausted.
