@wmeyerbill455 thanks for that info! Apologies if I seemed a bit snappy, was feeling pretty frustrated with myself.

@Francl27 actually according to my hrm I burn between 350-550cal on a 5k depending on the walk/run ratio but yes I could do with upping it plus getting some weights work back in there. Luckily I don't get periods due to my contraception method so it's mostly likely the ankle trouble. Will stick at 1670cal this week and…

Ok, thanks @lemurcat12 . It's just really frustrating :/ Got a guesstimate bf% on my scales (I normally do these checks first thing) so it worked out: my actual bmr is 1411cal, lean body mass is 109lb I put my target weight at 145lb and this is what it came out as Sedentary (little or no exercise, desk job) 1730cal Lightly…

Thanks @lemurcat12 that's probably the best answer so far. What gets me is that when I listened to the fat2fit podcasts (which is how I learned of this calc) it gave a weight drop not dissimilar to this one. I do have scales that weight body fat % but then with these being consumer grade how accurate are they? This is…

What gets me is that there is no definitive answer on this! It seems to be all conjecture and guesstimates. I want actual figures, where can I get actual facts and figure?
-
@wmeyerbill455 can we talk in terms of actual figures here? So my BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) is 1672cal/day - that's what I need to survive. I have a desk job however I aim to run 3x a week which at the moment hasn't been as frequent as that due to an ankle sprain. That's improving - did a charity 5k on different terrain…

For the benefit of everyone I weigh using a digital scale. No cups or other weights. The only regular measuring spoon is a tablespoon portion. Perhaps, yes, I have been missing the odd thing - i'm only human. The only drinks I have are filter coffee with a splash of skimmed milk - no sugar or sweeteners, water, herb or…

@dennshah01 that's really helpful, thank you! will try that and see what happens! I'm going to be upping my exercise anyway, hasn't been easy since the sprain about 5 weeks ago. Ran my first 5k race yesterday (with hills which i'm not used to) so got my feet up today doing some research.

@malibu927 sorry I didn't tag you there! I'm using MFP :) Honestly weight has stuck between 202-198 for months (not helped my sprained ankle recovery :/) One thing I was doing that i've cut down on was beer. Delicious, delicious beer! Only allowing myself the recommended units on one day a week if that.
-
@francl27 what was your exercise regime?

Using the http://www.fat2fittools.com/tools/bmr/ here are my figures. The question is which should I say is my activity level? Light or moderately active?

Thanks for the tips! Will try cuddling/annoying the boyfriend and cat more :D Will try porridge, noting when i'm hangry and consider upping my cals in to 1800 regardless of exercise :)
-
Yes I forgot to add I also take a cod liver oil capsule :) I do have porridge too but haven't had it for a few weeks, favoured eggs or 0% fat greek yogurt with granola. Prob a good time to get back into the porridge! Thanks for the advice :)

Thanks for your reply WBB55. My diet is fairly low fat - extra virgin olive oil in tiny amounts, nuts, seeds and oily fish usually; carbs tend to be brown rice, tortillas, burgen bread. I'm pretty accurate with my calories and double check anything that seems a bit odd between MFP & what the packaging says. There are…

If you use meat or fish add the oil to that before frying. Good tip is to use a plastic bag, add eg chicken pieces, 1tbsp oil, spices/chilli/garlic then massage the oil and flavours round the meat. Can be left to sit like that then just tip into the wok. It's a tip I use a lot "oil the meat, not the pan".

You can do it! It will be a lot of hard work but anything worth doing is. I've slipped back a bit (~10lb) but i'm picking up the pace again. You know what to do so good luck :)

Why does everyone say they hate sweating?! It shows you are doing it right! If i'm not soaking at the end of a workout i'm disappointed in myself. It's the only place where it's acceptable to be sweaty as hell so just do it.
-
Thought it is worth a go anyway!

Ok, after doing a little research this is what I came up with: http://www.juststand.org/tabid/637/language/en-US/default.aspx If I was just sitting at my desk for 7hrs i'd burn 1377cal, standing i'd burn 1477 - that's an extra 340cal A DAY just from standing while working. I've never tried standing and drawing all day but…

Hahahah! Yes!!! People that go to the gym and do nothing, leave without a bead of sweat. Also girls who "work out" with full make up on. These are the ones who tend to leave flawless. If you don't come out dripping in sweat what is the point?
-
Funny i've just been thinking about upping mine! Be good to see what responses you get!

Thank you :) will check them out!

Does anyone know of a dry shampoo for dyed red hair? (Based in Scotland)

BREAKFAST was two chocolate chip muffins, pizza, and soda?! I wouldn't eat that in a day! It's hard dealing with other people. Sometimes it's jealousy, sometimes they don't realise the effect putting so much crap in their bodies is having. Sometimes they think people are the way they are, end of. Some people want others to…

I think those are all good suggestions! My issue is i'm normally on my pc for work and pleasure so that's when I will snack. I do find going for walks helps a lot, especially with the exercise. I do totally need to get something else on the go too!

Jaffa cakes are good, not sure if you have them outside the UK? <50cal each and also have that orangey tang that's really satisfying especially with a coffee :)

I'd love to use my pc to use dvds/youtube videos but unfortunately my studio has so little floor space (2 big desks and lots of camera gear) that it's impossible even with the chairs removed! Also I don't have a laptop as I have no need for one. Considering getting some weights for some muscle work when I can't get to the…

Thanks to those who supported my lower carbs in the evening statement. Your body does know what time it is WHEN IT IS ASLEEP. What I am saying is that the calories that are made up by carbs should be made up by proteins instead. I'm not suggesting carbs are bad, on the contrary but tapering carbs from morning to evening is…
