My favorite greens recipe is called "Gratineed Swiss Chard". Take any similar green (kale, especially dinosaur, spinach, etc) and boil it, press all the water out and stick it in an oven safe dish. Sprinkle a little bit of Olive Oil and Parmesan cheese over top: (1-2 T of cheese) depending on how many greens you have.…

This is SO true. I enjoy the challenge of fixing vegan/vegetarian/raw dishes. I am none of these, but we have at least one vegan meal a week. Sometimes, it just happens based on whatever we have in the house; sometimes it's on purpose. I found a lot of recipes that I just enjoy sans animal products. As it is, I only eat…

I started on the 1st! And I love it.

Rock on, my awesome friend!

The jury is still out on whether or not there's a difference between saturated fat that comes from animal products and plant products. Island nations that consume a lot of coconut don't have a high incidence of heart disease, but there are too many factors involved to determine a reliable cause and effect. As a treat every…

Did you get the Coconut one? That's the only one I can think of that has that much saturated...and it occurs naturally in the coconut.

I find that graham crackers work really well for me if I'm going to run more than 3 miles. Less than 3 and it's an empty stomach. I get supa dupa sick no matter how long I've let the food digest. Can't even do a banana. Something about the graham crackers settles my stomach and gives me that extra boost of energy I need.

1. Guilt 2. Labeling foods as either good or bad. 3. Self-loathing 4. The scale. 5. Anything that distracts me from my goals.

There is a DVD put out by Gaiam called Strong Knees. I have recently started using it. It addresses weak muscles that cause most knee pain. I have seen a huge difference in my knees since I started the simple exercises it recommends. It's definitely worth a shot.

Water. Water w/lime. Yep. That's about it.

I first had it in France on a homemade crêpe w/fresh-from-the-market strawberries. Still one of the happiest memories of my life. :drinker:

Read the New Rules of Lifting for Women. I had never lifted weights either and Lou gives a very detailed explanation of form, including pictures. I couldn't enjoy it more.

2100 Calories I exercise six days a week: 3 days running, 3 days weight training, 1 day swimming, and Yoga thrown in for good measure. Sunday is a complete day of rest for me. Height: 5'7" Weight: 178# Age: 31 female Sometimes 2100 is enough and sometimes it isn't. I try to listen to my body. If it's a craving, I ignore…

This, exactly. If someone compliments my brain, sure, I believe that. Or my eyes. But outside of that, nope. Don't believe a word of it. Wish I did. Wish I was at the point where I could. But I'm just not there yet.

Madecasse 75% Dark Chocolate. Chocolate is like fine wine. This one has a black cherry finish. SO nice. I only need 4 little pieces and I'm set. And I NEED chocolate almost daily. My four pieces are around 70 calories. Perfect end to dinner or the day.

Absolutely amazing! Congratulations to you! Can't wait to see the next update!

^this! Also had tuna for breakfast the other morning. I normally have a protein green smoothie and oatmeal, but if I want broccoli for breakfast, I'm going to have broccoli. After I went to Costa Rica, I had beans and rice for breakfast for a while. It was a nice switch. There are no rules. Eat what fuels you. And if your…

I have been non-meat eating for almost 2 years now (still eat seafood). Whenever we have company, I ALWAYS make sure there are meat options. For instance, my mother doesn't eat fish so I fix chicken for her. For my birthday, we had a taco bar. We served beef, pork and chicken along with various vegetarian and vegan…

I'm always ravenous after a swim. My advice is to eat.

Right NOW. Even as a child, I was miserably out of shape. Asthmatic. No team sports. Bad knees. I may have weighed less at every other point in my life, but I was NO where near as fit as I am now. Most people have an image of themselves they'd like to get back to. I don't. That image of me is only yet to be seen and it's…

This is exactly what I was going to say.

Just remember: one day will not derail your goals. Not even one day a month. Eat what you need and then, get back to it the next day. The harder you are on yourself, the easier it is to fail. I have found that the healthier I eat and the more I exercise, the fewer cravings I have. And you learn to separate what you're…

Great advice!! I've also found this to be true. The stronger I get, the better my running gets. I owe a lot to push ups, planks and squats.

I've been on Nuvaring since 2008. I have gained weight since 2008. Is my weight gain the result of my birth control? NO. I gained weight because I ate too much and moved too little. Even if it was the cause, I wouldn't trade it in!:drinker:
