I have had times that I literally almost ran in place that I went so slow. You just need to go as slow as you can. During tough weeks I have went as slow as 16 minutes per mile. Now that I have graduated I am slowly gaining speed and I sometimes do 14 minutes per mile. And, as the other said, it really has a lot to do with…

I graduated this week. I have run a complete 5K twice, it takes me about 48 minutes. I run in my first race on Monday!

I have felt the same way as you. I would love to run every day. I tried it once and my legs objected. I couldn't finish my run the next day. Even though I'm graduated now, I still only run every other day. I'm hoping some day I will be able to work up to running every day.

I agree slow down. When I feel myself getting too winded I slow down as slow as I can go, almost running in place.

Name: Gwen (grubb1019) Gender: female Age: 42 Level: Rundouble Couch to 5K W9D1 Type of surroundings: High school track Weather: Sunny 78degrees Date: 8/26/13 Time of day: 9am Expected time: 60 minutes Running/walking: Running Time: 48 minutes!! This was my first time completing 5K without walking.

Just did W9D1, I ran 2.05miles in the 30minutes. THEN I ran for another 18 minutes to finish off 5K. I ran 5K for the first time in 48 minutes! I am so thrilled with myself! Now to just get faster. I have a question. I am going to run my first 5K race in a week, how many days should I not run before the race? I thought I…

Finished Week8 Day3 today. I was a lot slower because I knew I was going to keep running after the 28 minutes in an attempt to go 5K. I ran another 10 minutes or so and managed to run 4K in 38 minutes, I had to walk the last kilometer. I was sad I couldn't run the whole 5K, but keep reminding myself that 8 weeks ago I…

Week 7 Day 2 was a killer for me too for some reason. I had done W7D1 with no problem, but for day 2 my legs felt like they didn't want to go. I went on to day 3 two days later and had no problem at all, so I'm not sure what happened. I have also completed W8D1 and D2 without a problem.

If I ever make it to 145, which at this point I'm doubting, I am going to get a tattoo on my foot that say "walk by faith".

First you have to adopt a positive attitude, if you think you are going to fail you will. I am 42, had never ran a day in my life, and couldn't even run for a full minute when I started. I am currently in week 8 and just ran 1.8 miles this morning without stopping and barely even breathing hard (I was singing along out…

I am a teacher and being a little pudgy around the middle is normal at this age. She will loose it very soon. When my daughter turned 13 she slimmed down very fast. My daughter barely eats now and I'm glad she had that little bit of extra padding because she would be looking pretty anorexic about now if not. I agree with…

Did W8D1 today with my farthest distance and fastest time. I ran 1.83 miles with a pace of 15.20min/mile. Hoping to get under 15 on W8D2.

Finished W7D3 last night. It was great, I felt great at the 25 minute mark, so I ran 28 minutes. Felt like I could got longer, but was afraid of pushing myself too much and getting hurt. I'm really happy with my progress, even though I'm still going super slow.

I really struggle if I don't do a rest day in between. When I finish a week I skip a day and then start on the next week. My legs just can't make it yet if I go at it every day.
-
Disappointed that I couldn't finish W7D1 today. Its the first time I haven't been able to complete a day. I am surprised because I finished W6D3 (the 22 min run) without a problem, it was actually easy. I think the problem was that I hiked last night for 2.5 miles and even jogged a little bit, so I think I over did it. I…

I am currently around 204, starting the 7th week tomorrow. I could only run 30 sec. when I started and that about killed me. I just ran W6D3, which is a 22 minute run and could still even talk when I was done. I can't hardly believe it myself, lol! Don't give up, it gets easier every time.
-
I just finished W6D3 at 15:44min/mile. I had gotten a lot slower as the weeks progressed (week three was my best, I actually did a 12:44min/mile on day 2), but now each run has gotten slightly faster the last two weeks.
-
You can never go too slow! I just finished week 6 and I am at 15:44 min/mile. Worry about building your endurance first, then you can add speed later.
-
Finished W6 D3 today, three more weeks to go!! And I love that my breathing is more controlled now and I can actually say "good morning" to other runners I pass.
-
I'm 42 and have never run before either. When I am done I turn around and walk that distance back. If I am feeling really good I will run for a couple minutes here and there, but generally I just walk at a fast pace.
-
First, don't get discouraged and above all else, do not give up! It sounds to me like you did really well on W5 D3, but I'm wondering if you should have repeated it until you could do it successfully. I did W5 D1 today and it went a lot better than I thought, I was able to complete it without stopping. However, I can't see…

Good job! I've got one more week to go until my "big day"!
-
I think if you compared the two you would find more people feeling better and being less sick after loosing weight than getting sick. I have fibromyalgia and high blood pressure, I have a lot less body pain and my pressure is lower than it has ever been since I have lost 23 lbs and I exercise regularly.
-
I love running in the rain! And congrats on starting again.

I use the app on my phone and I only had an issue once, but my battery was really close to dying. I was supposed to have a 3 minute run and it gave me a 5 minute one. I'm now at the end of week 4 and haven't had any other problems with it.
-
Just finished W4D1 on the second try. I think it helped a lot that it was about 20 degrees cooler today. I felt really good when I finished, wasn't totally exhausted. I'm so happy!
-
You do not need to loose weight, you just need toned. I am 5 ft 5 and my goal is 145. I have been 128 and I was sick and too skinny.

Did Rundouble W4 Day 1 today. I wasn't able to complete it. I did the first 3 min. interval, had to walk twice for about 15 seconds each time during the first 5 minute interval, I did the second 3 minute interval, but could only run about a minute of the last 5 minute interval. Should I go back to week 3 or should I keep…

Just finished Weed 3 Day 3, I'm a little disappointed in myself because I let myself stop 20 seconds early on the last interval and I know if I had pushed myself I could have done it. I went early this morning, but it was already so hot and humid it was hard to breath just walking outside. The great thing was, I taped my…
