  • I don't think it's too much because your body is just on a slightly different schedule. The 1200 cals is for a full day (24 hours) regardless of when yours is. I think you're doing great and the numbers on the scale or the way your clothes start to loosen will prove it!
  • It's best to weigh yourself first thing in the morning after you get up and urinate. I used to only do it once a week but I have actually gained 3 pounds in 1 week when I got off track and just ate what my family ate, and when etc...sooo I have to pay a little closer attention to it. I don't have a lot to lose ( lost 20…
  • Welcome aboard and good luck on your weight loss journey!!!
  • If you're exercising a lot I've heard that you can develope more male hormones and thus more hair growth, less monthly cycle etc. I agree that it sounds more like a hormone related issue than a diet issue but I don't know if dieting alone can cause such a change. I'd advise on the dr check up too.
  • If I eat well during the day I like to eat something I know is low cal like lean cuisine or something that I didn't have to make. I know it's not as nutritious as homemade but I know for sure the cals since it's on the label. I rarely follow my own advice though unless the family is having something I just don't want to do…
  • I don't care much for peppermint because it usully upsets my tummy so I go for Dentyne cinnamon gum. It curbs the cravings and keeps my mouth busy. Perhaps even a bit energized:)
  • I don't eat the extra cals I earn from exercising because the scale doesn't drop if I do.
  • negative - I only have a temporary job positive - Iv'e been at it almost a year! and at least I am bringing home some income and have insurance through my husband's job
  • Good for you!!! I know I'm not supposed to but when I plateau I also drastically reduce my cals for a few days to get things rolling again. It works and I haven't regained any after I go back to my 1200 cals. Even on those days that I eat over 2k cals (even 2-3 days in a row but not more) the scale stays the same, but if I…
  • Exactly what is "clean eating"?
  • originally San Antonio, Texas, now Bellingham, Washington
  • I'm sooooo sorry to hear about your back and your kitty. I will pray for you both to get well sooon!!! I hurt my back a few years ago and I gained a few more pounds at the time (I wasn't trying not to though). I know you can't exercise (probably doing good to move much at all) so you will absolutely have to watch your…
  • Hey you wonderful, beautiful, strong woman! First I agree that you should change your sign in name to something more uplifting so it promotes positive feelings about yourself when you sing in. Again I keep reading and hearing the weight battle is really about caloreis in vs calories used so this site is a great tool to get…
  • Welcome! I am 49 years old - 4 kids ages 11 19 21 31 and 2 stepkids ages 16 & 29, 5 grandsons between the two oldest. Sometimes I can't beleive it's my life! I like this website a lot because it's so easy to count the calories. I keep reading and hearing that the bottom line is calories in vs calories used so I have found…
  • The secret is to keep your blood sugar level. You could try eating several small nutritious meals throughout the day. It really works for some people.
  • Muscle weighs more than fat and the inches show you're losing so don't worry about it. The scale will catch up. How your clothes fit will also give you an indication how you're doing. Sometimes the scale can cause us to lose motivation so try not to obsess over it too much.
  • That bites and great to know that it's not just me though...lol
  • I live in western washington where it rains so much that we get SAD (seasonal adjustment disorder) and a lot of people go to the tanning salon to ward off depression. I did it a few times but once they changed the bulbs and although I went for the same breif time period I got very burned then I started noticing brown…
  • Wow we are nearly in the same boat. I too lost 10 lbs at first and am hanging there after 2 months. At my desk I have a small soft weighted ball I think 1.5 lbs (the kind you get when you buy the big exercise ball) and I hold it between my knees and raise and lower my legs in various positions. I also do arm exercises with…
  • Don't be so hard on yourself. The beauty is that we all come in various shapes and sizes by God's design. If that were my problem I would try to buy clothes that minimize my shoulders and enhance my better features such as your waist. It's amazing how good (or bad) you can look depending on the clothes you wear. Congrats…
  • I don't do breakfast well either. I've heard it's ok not to eat for a few hours after waking up if you're not hungry. In simplicity ..if you're hungry eat and if you're not don't. Also I have read that it's good to just have fruit in the am, but that doesn't work for me either. I just listen to my body and I don't force or…
  • rt53171 what kind or brand of colon cleanse do you like best? What about a fruit fast? I heard that helps cleanse you too but I don't know how long to do it (or if I have the willpower to do so)
  • Sory - learning how to properly post...thanks!
  • Thanks for the good advise. I have no patience!!!
  • Any exercixes that work the core abdominal muscles (the ones that are deep inside and go around you horizontally like a girdle) are great for this. But they won't give you a 6 pack or anything. Lie on your back and raise your legs a bit off the floor and you will feel them work. There's tons of variations of these…
  • I witnessed a hypnotist in college and based on that experience I think it's real because one girl got hypnotized and couldn't get out of her chair until he said she could go. She was really freaking out. Some of the people got hypnotized and some didn't. Those that didn't got sent back tinto the audience for the show. I…
  • Sounds good to me. I have a hard time getting in 8 glasses of water.
  • Welcome. You will be surprised how many calories some things have! Here's a helpful tip...look up the food before you eat it...you may make an alternate choice once you see how fattening it is. Don't starve yourself but I must honetly say I don't lose any weight when I eat the extra calories earned by exercise. Drink your…
  • Hi and welcome. Congrats on these first steps you're taking on a healthier (therefore happier) lifestyle. I'm not clear on all of the ways to use this site but so far just reading other peoples' stuff is helpful and to be able to check the calories is quite an eye opener. Hang in there - you can do this.
  • When I quit I walked through each nic fit and psyched myself out that I can do this and it will pass. I'm sure I sounded crazy but those horrible feelings came and went with longer gaps in between and less powerful every day. Eventually I realized one day that I didn't crave a cigarette at all. Now I can't stand the smell…
