  • Novezero- When I drink too much crystal light I get ulcers. They suck.
  • I'm petrified to get on the scale! In the past 3 years it has ONLY gone up. So it is hard for me to set weight goals, but I am going to go by the way my clothes feel. Although, I'll admit that even that is hard because I still haven't bought new clothes so I wear a lot of running shorts/yoga pants to avoid having to face…
  • I have completely changed the times in which I eat. I used to not eat breakfast and sometimes didn't eat lunch. I now don't need a nighttime snack and I used to binge from dinner until bedtime. Although I FEEL so much better now, I haven't lost an ounce. Frustrating. I have also cut back on diet soda. I used to drink 1 can…
  • Thanks so much! I appreciate your response!

  • Fasting blood glucose (is that glucose, serum?) was 76 with lab ranges 65-99 My A1C was 6.2 My creatinine, Serum was high at 1.13 (.57-1.0 are lab values) I have been going to an RD because of my difficulty losing the weight I gained from the thyroid issue, but I didn't know about this until today.
  • Thank you all so much for your responses! I really appreciate them!
  • I am pretty shocked by all of this. When I went to the doctor- because of strange weight gain (low calorie, healthy diet with a lot of exercise) they discovered I was hypothyroid. I returned after I started synthroid to get follow up blood work. The doctor said she wanted to test my A1C although she was quite sure nothing…
  • I just talked with the medical assistant because the doctor is busy (frustrating, but understandable). She said that my a1c is 6.2. She really didn't say anything else other than "take a diabetes education class". Um, thanks, I am not sure I can modify my lifestyle much to be healthier. It is already really healthy. Should…
  • I will be doing that. However, I just got a message from the dr. on my phone and won't be able to meet with her until next week so I am kind of worried and wanted ideas until then.
  • I want to, but I haven't lost anything in 3 months so realistically I don't think it will happen. I'd love to know how people are doing this because what I am doing is not working. Errr. So frustrated. Depite working so hard I have seen no changes to my body shape or my weight.
  • Me! No loss at all. My dietitian is confused as well. I saw someone say to eat to your rmr. Does that mean net your bmr or just eat to that. Mine is 1100 so should I eat that?
  • The event is my wedding and I don't have much time for alterations to the dress. I realize that isn't more important than my health, but at the moment I really don't want to feel like crap about myself on my wedding day. Honestly, if this was the weight I always was it would be ok. But being that it is so much higher than…
  • I'm fatter. Much. I don't have any clothes that fit. It is a lot of exercise, but it is what I've done for a long time. I have always been involved in athletics and I just love running. Although, lately I don't love it as much because running with 16-17 extra pounds is much harder. Why doesn't eating more increase your…
  • Thank you all so much! Yes, it is ridiculously low. I am 5'10" and 156. I've always been 140 and then suddenly gained weight due to - thyroid and not eating enough. I exercise a lot. I gained that weight while running 50-60 miles a week, crosstraining, walking, yoga, etc. I will increase my calories soon because no way do…
  • But I still don't know how many calories I should eat. Does anyone know how to figure that out?
  • Yes, I got it tested with the machine that measure oxygen output. I am at a healthy BMI, but very high for me. I've never been at such a high weight and it is not comfortable.
  • I have been lifting. But how many calories would you eat? Building muscle will take a while
  • Peanut butter! Cereal use to be realllly hard for me. I'd eat a box in a day, but now I'm able to resist because I allow myself a bowl a day so the desire to eat the whole box has diminished a bit. Ice cream. I do buy it, but I know it will be gone in a few days so I don't buy it often. Crackers- I just mindlessly snack on…
  • Yes, it doesn't sound like you get much sleep. And you work so late! Do you snack after work? I know I would wind up adding an extra meal in there which would add more calories.
  • No problem! google New Leaf or Med Gem. They can test it for you. Most dietiticans will do it as well as health clubs. I am going to a RD.
  • But in this case the person is eating less than their tested metabolic rate, not just what their metabolic rate "should" be, so shouldn't they lose
  • But if it was starvation mode wouldn't the BMR indicate that by being lower?
  • Did anyone find the results helpful?
  • Sengratt and Izzy: When you got the information did it help you? Did you adjust anything and figure out if it was accurate? I just want to make sure it is worth it and not just an average number I could find by a chart.
  • Mycatkitchen....me too :(
  • Add me, too! I'm 5'10" and 156. I'm trying to get to 140, but I haven't had any luck so far :( Not happy about it and not sure what else i can do at this point.
  • Debby- Can you tell me more about what you did? When you increased your calories did you gain weight initially?
  • Right, but I mean the smaller amount of calories caused the plateau. She had to increase to see a difference.
  • Why do you think you plateaued by a 125 calorie decrease? That's amazing to me that such a minimal difference made such a difference!
