My labs
I had labs done about two months ago. What I don't understand is that my Free T 3 consistently gets worse. It is worse now than it was before taking meds. I take 75 synthroid and 5mcg of cytomel 3x a day (total of 15 mcg a day). I've been feeling worse and containing to gain weight so I had my labs redone this week, but…

Dehydration effects
How does dehydration impact the results of blood draws? I think I was dehydrated this morning and am concerned it might impact my TSH, Free T3 and T4. Thanks!

Cytomel
Has anyone taken this? I started it on Friday. I am on a very low dose and not noticing anything yet. My T3 was not increasing with the synthroid so doctor added this. I'm curious why some doctors are hesitant to prescribe it. Did anyone have success losing on it? What dose was required to see weight loss? Any other side…

t3
Has anyone started t3 after just being on T4 (synthroid, etc) and noticed an improvement? how long did it take to see a change?

A1C - blood sugar
My A1C is high. I am a healthy BMI, I exercise a lot, and I eat very well. I limit carbs as much as a I can being that I do a lot of endurance training. Why might it still be high? I have no family history of diabetes. I have never been overweight and I am currently at the highest weight I have ever been (although it is…

Book recommendations
I have one more question and then I'm going to go buy a book. What does it mean if T4 and T3 are normal, but the FREE t3 and T4 are low? I know that means that there is protein interference so there isn't as much usable hormone. But why does this happen? And so that I can stop bothering everyone...any book recommendations…

Fasting before blood work?
I started Levothyrozine 6 weeks ago and need to go get my levels checked. Last time I got them checked was when I was first diagnosed. I was also having my cholesterol checked so I needed to fast. Should I fast this time too for consistency? Thanks!

What would you do? RMR results
My resting metabolic rate results- 1100. Very low for someone who is 5'10" and does a lot of exercise. I know I should probably increase calories to increase my metabolism, but right now I really need to lose 10 pounds for a big event. I know that sounds ridiculous, and it is, but anyway. How many calories would you…

Increasing calories after many years of too little
Can someone share their experience with this? How long did it take until your metabolism started moving along again? How much did you initially gain? Were you able to eat like others or is your metabolism still a bit lower than normal? Would love to hear some how others did this.

Long time eating too few calories
Anyone here eat very low calories for too long and start to gain weight? I'd like to hear if anyone was able to lose once they increased and what exactly happened (gain first, then lose?). I've been eating too little for a long time and have increased my calories once I started on MFP, but probably not enough. My weight…

So...pretend...
That you ate 1000 calories each day. You burn 200 through exercise. You gain weight. When you get your metabolism tested you find out your BMR is 1100. So you should be losing. What are some reasons why you wouldn't be? Some I can think of: Miscalculating intake, inaccurate metabolic test, and I don't know what else!…

Metabolism testing
I've seen various machines that test your metabolism (Med Gem for example). Are these accurate? Are they worth the money? I think you breath into a little machine for about 15 minutes prior to eating/exercising for the day.

Not hungry
I am rarely hungry. I don't understand it. I exercise a lot which should increase my appetite a bit- long runs used to do that. However, now I could go all day without getting hungry. I'm also not losing any weight and eating 1200-1450 calories. Does this mean my metabolism is just really slow and that is why I'm not…

Nothing is working!
I am 5'10" and have always been 140ish, but in the past year my weight shot up quickly to 156. No matter what I try I can't lose. I tried eating more, eating less, exercising more, exercising less. No luck. I currently exercise a lot. I am curious if anyone with not much to lose has tried eating more to lose. I did try it…

Feel like a moron
Why did I not realize this before....Oh my gosh I almost want to cry I'm so relieved. For the past 5 years I have extreme ups and downs with my weight. Within weeks my clothes would suddenly be falling off me and I would lose weight very quickly, but without changing diet/exercise. Then just as quickly the weight would…

Lab Results...what do these mean
I googled it, but I would rather hear from others' experiences instead. I got my labs from my last blood test and would love to know what these numbers mean. I don't really trust the lab's range because I know they are really broad. So it looks like T4 and T3 are pretty normal, but Free T3 is 2.2 and Free T4 is .96. Can…

Why'd I gain?
This past week I had a situation in which I was forced to alter my exercise/eating patterns. However, I expected this to be good for weight loss. I had to exercise less, but I still fit in at least an hour of cardio plus 2x of strength. I walked as much as I could (approx. 3 miles a day) in addition to the exercise. I was…

How many calories/hypothyroid
Does your TSH/t3/t4 determine how slow or fast your metabolism is? So, say your TSH is 6 then would your metabolism be slower than someone with a TSH of 5? Or does it not really matter and your metabolism isn't slower the higher your TSH (or lower T3/T4) is? Anyway, I'm not sure how many calories to eat and how to figure…

Success losing a smallish amount of weight?
I'm hoping someone can share how they lost 10 pounds or so when they were already eating healthy and exercising. What changes I you make? Did it come off slowly?

Runners eating low carb
Im having a really hard time losing and people have said to cut back the carbs. I did for 2 days and I've had two horrible runs. My legs felt like lead. Can a runner (45-50) miles per week really eat low carb? Someone help! I really want to lose and part of me believes calories are what matter, but it isn't seeming to work…

How much does Thyroid matter?
I'm wondering how much of my inability to lose can be attributed to my slightly low T3/T4? I started Levothyroxine a few weeks ago with fatigue and unexplained weight gain. I have been tracking my calories daily, staying around 1700 (I'm 5'10" and extremely active). I "should" be losing. But nope. Not a bit. I don't want…

Healthy foods you can't stop eating
Certain healthy foods I can't have in the house because I won't stop eating them. Mine are cottage cheese, brussel sprouts, and grilled chicken. I won't stop until I have a stomachache. Anyone else have certain foods that are hard to portion control?

No Loss
Someone please help! I have been logging everything for a month now. I haven't lost, in fact I have gained! By the end of the day I am so full and bloated, but I am eating on average 1700 calories. I know people might think I need to eat more, but if I am that full do I really? I work out a lot...should I cut back on that?…

Why can't I lose?
If anyone is bored or just in the mood to be helpful I'd appreciate feedback on my diet/exercise. I exercise approximately 90 minutes a day (cardio) plus I walk a lot. I know I should strength train, but I've never seen results from it despised I just don't like it. I do love hard cardio, though! I've been eating 1600 to…

Diary of someone with similar stats: F, 5'10", exerciser
I'd love to see someone's diary that has similar stats as I do. I'm not sure how my eating is looking and it'd be nice to compare to someone who has had success! I'm a female, 5'10", approx 160, and do a lot of cardio. Thanks!
-
a lot of cardio
I do a lot of cardio, about 90-120 minutes per day of intense running/stair climbing/etc. I also do a lot of walking. I am wondering if I might have more success if I cut back the exercise (and thus the food).

Did you follow daily calorie requirements?
I'm wondering if anyone ate the amount MFP recommends for weight loss? My daily calorie requirements are pretty high from exercise and I'm not sure if I should eat fewer than it says I should if I am satisfied with much less. I'm just wanting to know what peoples' experience has been with weight loss when eating the…
