How many calories/hypothyroid

Does your TSH/t3/t4 determine how slow or fast your metabolism is? So, say your TSH is 6 then would your metabolism be slower than someone with a TSH of 5? Or does it not really matter and your metabolism isn't slower the higher your TSH (or lower T3/T4) is?

Anyway, I'm not sure how many calories to eat and how to figure out my TDEE or BMR with a thyroid that isn't in top shape. I'm taking levothyroxine, but haven't had any improved symptoms yet. Although, my levels weren't too out of range I have had a lot of symptoms. Do you subtract a percentage or number of calories from what is "normal" to figure it out or is it trial and error? I hate trial and error :) There are too many variables week to week that it makes it hard to know if it is calories or sleep or exercise or whatever that made the difference.

Ok- thanks for the help!
