  • Sounds interesting....Let me in on the details.
  • I personally would go with a combination of sudafed and neti pot. the Sudafed will clear you up, the neti pot will help get the infection out. Also green tea with lemon and honey.
  • Also, it helps to use the barcode scanner on the smartphone app. You'll get more accurate calorie counts that way.
  • I love smashing up a couple avocados with some lemon or lime juice and some salt. I use it as veggie/chip dip, serve with tacos/burritos, or as spread on a sandwich (instead of Mayo). Or I just eat it  And I always order a side of guacamole when I go to my favorite mexican restaurant.
  • One thing I noticed no one mentioning is: Skip the Ibuprofen. As much as it sucks walking around extremely sore, Ibuprofen and another NSAIDS hamper your ability to build muscle. http://www.caringmedical.com/sports-injuries/nsaids-why-we-do-not-recommend-them/ I only take pain pills if absolutely necessary (headaches and…
  • If the same muscles keep cramping up, try stretching out ALL your muscles. I had a period last fall where my calves cramped up all the time despite stretching them frequently. I discovered that if I stretched them all out it helped my calves out immensely. Tight muscles can wreak havoc elsewhere, turns out my quads are…
  • Don't forget to check your posture too. If you're hunched over, it makes it harder to breathe. Running "tall" will also help prevent side stitches.
  • Also: Incindies (canadian/lebanese) Paradise Now (palestinian) The White Ribbon (German) Syrian Bride (palestinian or syrian) Conspiracy Yacoubian Building (egyptian) Nasser 56 (egyptian) No clue if they are on netflix but they are great movies nonetheless. Sorry for the Middle Eastern theme...that was my degree so I got…
  • Criterion? Okay Hard Day's Night Red Shoes Stagecoach Anatomy of a murder Blow out On the Waterfront Life and Death of Colonel Blimp Persona Rules of the Game Seven Samurai Seconds Shoah (must devote a whole day to this one) Red River Might I also suggest The General with Charlie Chaplin (or any of his work really),…
  • I could only pull this off if I'm running in crappy weather....otherwise, I would never be able to slow down to my plod because there's so many people on the lake path here!
  • I go between waving, giving thumbs up, smiling...I am a friendly runner :-) Even when I'm dying I am smiling and waving.
  • Crocheting my way through my stash (don't currently have a yarn budget), so I'm making an "in memorium" afghan from yarn my bf's dad gave me before he passed away. I'm giving it to my bf's mom either for her bday or for Christmas. I'm also making baby blankets and scarves galore!
  • Unless I wake up starving, I usually call it a morning with a glass of milk. If I am starving, there's toast or cereal (though that tends to make me hungrier and want lunch sooner).
  • I bruised (possibly fractured) my foot several years ago and I made myself swim and use the recumbent bike. And after 3 weeks, I started adding in a short run on a track (nice, soft and flat surface). I didn't have health insurance at the time so I couldn't go to the doctor so I don't know for sure what happened but I was…
  • My favorites are Mizuno, Saucony, and Asics. And I try to stick to the rule of 300-500 miles or roughly training for and running a half marathon.
  • I know a couple people who have gone to Fleet Feet to participate in their programs. One is for walkers and the other is for runners. They have coaches and fitness and nutrition advice. If you don't have a Fleet Feet, Just check around to see if there's a group that operates this kind of program. If you're worried about…
  • IF I have to do workouts on the treadmill, I do a mile warm-up at a comfortable pace (5.5) and then do 1/2 mile at a doable but challenging pace (5.8-6.0), 1/4 mile back at warm-up pace, and repeat for a couple miles and then do a 10 minute cool down. I try to do a bit of incline maybe 1-2%.
  • I tend to keep my hair relatively short anyways because it works better with my face (and I frankly can't handle long hair). But when I hit my goal, I'm going Pixie cut!!!
  • Bought a pepsi and snickers bar from the vending machine almost every day when I went to work. I knew it was bad for me but going to work at 5:30 almost every morning made for a sleepy employee, enter Pepsi. Then I always wanted to workout after work (I worked at a gym) and would be starving because the apple just wouldn't…
  • My Rrrrraaaaawwwwrrr Moment lately was kicking *kitten* (in my way) at my last half marathon. It was my second fastest time and 14 minutes faster than the previous year on the same course. I want to be able to do the same this year so I have incorporated more lifting....Plus that way I can look as ripped as I did in High…
  • Kudos to you. I'm between 10-12 minutes per mile (depending on how I'm feeling and miles being run). I would love to be able to go back to running a 9 minute mile. I'll get there some day.
  • Avocado spread is a great alternative to mayo on sandwiches. Avocados are also very high in potassium which is great stuff for muscles and organ function.
  • I'm all over the place. Target, kohls, marshalls, Ross, TJ Maxx and I'll even hit up the clearance racks at sporting goods stores like Sports Authority. Fitness gear outlets also have clearance that I love (GoLite is a Colorado company....love the pants from there) :-) And most of my workout shirts are from my races,…
  • I fill up my bowl. I just guesstimate (bad idea I know) that it's about 2 cups. I should just stay away from cereal...it always makes me hungrier.
  • Mizuno and Asics are my favorite but everyone is different. Some people swear by Brooks but they don't work for my feet, so I leave their awesomeness to other people. Speaking of which, I REALLY need to go get new shoes....Hmmmm
  • Has been a problem my whole life....even when I was fit and thin. I always have to have socks on in the winter and always have tea or something in hand to keep my hands warm. I'm used to it so I don't think about it much anymore.
  • There are some that you can wrap around your neck
  • My dad LOVES these. You can find them or an equivalent at any sporting goods stores (though I think my dad gets his at REI) http://www.becoolbands.com/ I have not tried them myself, I sweat like there is no tomorrow.
  • Yesterday was at least 1000 over my goal, today might be a couple hundred. But I'm just getting back on track after a horrendous start to 2014 (and not just health wise). Sadly there are sweets galore sitting in my kitchen that I cannot bear to throw away (and would frankly be in trouble for doing so).
  • If I'm on the treadmill....most definitely need something to occupy my time. So either the TV or music. If it's a short run outside (anything under 6 miles) I go sans music. But I listen to music or an audiobook on my long training runs, not because I get bored, I need to suppress that annoying voice in my head that's…
