  • ChaLEAN Extreme works on the principle of slow reps.
  • This. MFP has a deficit. You don't want the deficit to be too big because it becomes unsustainable and your body freaks out. Eating back your calories prevents this from happening.
  • I don't know, but my right elbow does it too, when I do bicep curls. Hopefully someone knows.
  • I feel like I live my entire life between jeans sizes. Don't beat yourself up. If you find something a little snug, but you like it, buy it! You can wear some shapewear until it fits properly.
  • If it hurts WHILE you do it, either modify with low impact movements (don't actually jump when she says jump) or find another workout that doesn't hurt. I have a knee that bothers me, but it never hurts while I'm working out, so I don't modify anything. Probably not the smartest move, but I really like what I'm doing, so..
  • It's normal. 30 pounds looks like a lot more on a smaller person. I was 260 when I started and no one noticed or said anything to me until I was around 220-230.
  • I get a 6 inch veggie delite on wheat, no cheese, all the veggies, and a little bit of mustard.
  • I do it on carpet and just don't pivot so much.
  • You took your measurements and haven't lost an inch? I find that suspicious. That said, I wore the same size pants until I'd lost about 40 pounds. The legs were baggy but the waist still fit.
  • I used to get a nonfat iced white mocha no whip, but it's too sweet for me now (never thought I'd see the day). That made me sad, so now I don't usually go..oh, and also because I never have money.
  • 4,966,251,926. 204 people were born while I was on the site figuring that out..sheesh.
  • My day got exponentially better..except for the scene from Are You Afraid of the Dark..that still creeps me out.
  • The first workouts I ever did were EA Sports Active and EA Sports Active More Workouts. I did the 30 day plan on the first, and the 6 week plan on the second. I lost 20 pounds and ate around 1400 calories a day.
  • I was a substitute teacher for awhile, and some of the names that stick out for me are La-a (pronounced Ladasha), Abcde (pronounced ab-city), and Omunique (kinda like I'm unique).
  • Good job on the 14! I love Turbo and CLX..super fun, and effective. I've been in a plateau for about 5 weeks, but I'm building muscle (that I can actually feel) and my endurance has improved dramatically. They're really good.
  • If you buy on Amazon, read the reviews to get an idea of which are good and which aren't. Generally the ones with a chest strap are more accurate. The ones that don't have a strap work by you just pushing a button and it reads your heart rate. They do tell you how many calories you burn. They're a great investment.
  • It depends on what you do. If you do something that has both strength and cardio in the same workout, it's circuit training (generally speaking). If you do Turbo Jam, most people log it under kick boxing. If you go for a walk, obviously log it as a walk (same for running and riding a bike). The best way to do it, though,…
  • This is what I did as a beginner at 260 pounds: EA Sports Active for the Wii (if you have it), Celebrity Fit Club Boot Camp (it was really challenging, but it's whole body), and anything Biggest Loser. BL has cardio and strength, which is good because you need both for the best results. After I'd lost some weight (about…
  • Yep..for a couple of reasons. Partly because I didn't go to the school here (they're big on school spirit here, and when you decide after high school that you want to go 10 hours away, they kinda frown upon that). Also, I'm young and there are a lot of veteran teachers out of work right now, so they get the jobs even if my…
  • I gave up on the no caffeine thing (for now). I'm just not sleeping at night and if I didn't have the caffeine, I'd sleep all day. When I go back to school in January I'm going to try again.
  • I like the one about people who are married to prisoners. It's pretty sick on my part, but they make me laugh.
  • I don't know specifics on any particular kind of yoga, but Biggest Loser has a yoga weight loss DVD that you can get on Amazon for dirt cheap. It's really good.
  • I read that most of the plasma donated doesn't go to patients, it goes to pharmaceutical companies who profit off of it (which is why they pay you). That's neither here nor there, though. If you wanna donate, donate. I tried once and they wouldn't take mine because I have "too much protein". I'm not sure how, as I had been…
  • Adding goals: go to Community and then Signature. As far as the Depo goes, any hormonal birth control can make you crave "bad" foods, but you can decide not to let cravings control you. BC effects everyone differently, but if you have it set in your mind that a shot is the sole reason you gained "a ton" of weight, then you…
  • If you want pumpkin pie but don't have a lot of calories, make a pumpkin shake. Crush a few cubes of ice, and add half a cup of pumpkin, half a cup of whatever milk you drink, 1 Tbs honey, some pumpkin pie spice and cinnamon. Tastes just like a pie. But I totally feel where you're coming from. My mom made giant cinnamon…
  • I cannot tell you the last time I ran before I started c25k, mostly because I never ran. Like, ever. I don't even know how the idea of starting a running program entered my mind, but it did. Somehow I managed to do the whole thing without ever repeating a day or a week. It seems like a drastic jump up, and it kind of is,…
  • I did absolutely no walking/running/biking this week until today. I took two of my dogs for a walk which totalled 3.5 miles. That's pretty darn sad. However, my goal was to do more cardio on the days I just had strength (I'm doing the TurboFire/ChaLEAN Extreme hybrid), and I have been. Initially my plan was to…
  • I've never actually been to a gym, but one of my favorite things to do is weighted squats. Just pick up some dumbells of whatever size (although since squats are lower body, you can go heavier than you may realize) and squat, making sure your weight is on your heels. Since the quads/glutes are the biggest muscles, they…
  • I got pretty okay at those, but the air jacks..not so much. Ok, more like not at all. I did Fire 45 today, and after the last fire drill, I always feel like "okay, that's enough" until the music for Boom starts playing. Picks my energy right back up, thankfully. How about the finale, though? Anyone else think that one just…
