  • Automobile test driver... on race tracks :)
  • Love it! Me and my wife made a decision this weekend to plan the weekly meals and do a weekly shopping trip, so we have fresh fruit & veggies all week. I also plan my work lunches around leftovers, so I plan to cook an extra portion for lunch the next day. So far so good!!
  • That's actually a nice point, nerdy motivation to see the number stay higher for longer :)
  • hahah, you don't gotta tell it like it is! Just being honest, I don't do sports, won't, have a 7 month old, a very busy full time job, so not gonna go to the gym before or after work, no time for that. My diary is open if anyone wants to read it, I've been off MFP for a while but really do want to lose some weight, always…
  • I remember being on a stationary bike, even riding hard and sweating it was gruellingly slow how many calories were burned.. by it's calculations... then I see things like 'Yard Work' burning 600+ calories per hour...
  • lol, nope.. not a sports guy. The only sports I play is golf, which I can't afford to do currently, fishing, darts, poker, yeah that's about it. Thought about racquetball or something like that but not likely gonna happen.
  • Probably, but I'm not on MFP to quit drinking... I'm on here to lose weight :) Me and my wife both LOVE beer, not getting drunk, although that's a nice side effect sometimes. I like the idea of have a full glass of water between beers... that should work. I'm going to resist drinking daily too, and cut it down to two…
  • I know that anything is possible in moderation as long as it's included in daily logging... I definitely have a problem with when I have that night of 6+ beers, I completely lose faith in myself losing weight... But I saw 207 on the scale, and that's a trigger number for sure that I need to lose some.
  • Yeah I might need to drink something with little or no calories in replacement of beer, I drink PLENTY of water already, I like something tasty at night. I do LOVE those Alo Exposed drinks, perhaps I need a case of those... Like quitting smoking, it's easier to replace than to eliminate! I am definitely going to not drink…
  • Awesome! I knew you smart people would think of a way :)
  • Embarassing return to this thread :( Back up to 208.5 as of this morning.... I blame it 100% on the fact that I stopped logging, counting, and really caring what I ate... I don't really know why I stopped but I did, and I gained it all back within 2 months. GAH. Doing it again :) Broke my kitchen scale so I gotta go buy a…
  • I am in a similar place, I managed to lose 13lbs tracking over the course of a month, just over 2lbs per week... I was ecstatic! No idea what happened, but over the next month I didn't log anything, and I weighed myself yesterday and I'm right back up to where I was :( My calorie limits are at ~1750 and if I eat to or near…
  • Mackelmore - Thrift Store was the beginning song of a workout playlist I downloaded from RockmyRun.. I loved it!
  • Only way to fail is to quit! For sure.
  • Gotta pop in, I'm on a 39 day log in streak, and I've actually been able to say no to Iced Capps (free ones!), iced cream at home, fries when eating fast food, etc... This morning was 199.5 on the scale, I've been as low as 198, and haven't been over 200 in a week! The trend-line is steadily going down, and I'm totally…

  • Well after work today I know I am at least "Lightly Active", sweat a few times vacuuming cars, taking out windshields, cleaning the shop throughout the day... it's a bit of a workout when it gets busy enough for it! I remember thinking "This ain't no damn sedentary!" while I was sweating and rushing around... Thanks…
  • Skimmed through yer blog, not bad for a personal thoughts / journal type blog. One thing it leaves me wondering, are you relating so much with your weight that you feel it is a large part of you? So losing weight might mean you're losing a part of yourself... it can easily and quietly become a sabotage if you let it!! I'm…
  • I definitely find that if I skip more than one meal, I become a ravenous beast and will consume far more than I would have... and this can build up day after day, so my solution is to make sure I'm eating something at each meal... When hungry and not thinking straight I can easily get 1000+ calories at McDonalds which…
  • hah I just posted this exact question.. Not sure if I'm sedentary or lightly active. As long as sedentary includes the odd walk, the odd cleaning, etc... then probably sedentary.
  • One thing that really helped me rein in my eating at dinner is to reduce the portion, and save the rest for lunch the next day! That way nobody is insulted, and you get to keep within your calories much easier... and you enjoy delicious food the next day too. That's the main thing I've been doing to reduce my dinner-time…

  • The first little while is definitely the hardest for me, changing my portions to allow them to fit within my daily caloric intake was and still is a big challenge for me. I personally weigh myself daily, not worrying if I gain a pound or two because I know it goes away the next day or two... but I use every pound lost as…
  • ^^^ I agree, and like was said before, I like to be able to see that new low! If I weighed once per week, I might be on an 'off' day and missed seeing a new record low number :) I'm looking to break 204 personally, when I see 203 I'm gonna be stoked! I'll be even happier when I see under 200!
  • But who eats quarters??
  • This is definitely the slow part of the forum, don't fret if people don't reply right away :) I love simple chicken meals, chicken & rice, broccoli, asparagus, etc... I oven cook my chicken usually with either honey-dijon or greek-feta dressing. We also have taco night at least once a week, ground beef, tomato, lettuce,…
  • Lower it gradually... cutting it out cold turkey will end up in fail, usually... My only advice is to cut it out a little at a time :)
  • I want to be able to drive my car without a shirt on and not feel fat. I want to be able to remove my shirt at the beach and not feel fat. I want to stop feeling fat. Pretty much it
  • I took a quick look at your diary, and without weeks of putting EVERYTHING you eat or drink in there, you're still in the dark as to what eating within caloric goals feels like... I had a few bad days lately, mostly with beer.. and McDonalds... I should eat ~1580 cals per day, and Sunday I hit 3600. I have a bad habit of…
  • "Starvation mode" is essentially a myth. If you can eat 1200 calories (healthy calories, not processed food) and feel content, I say go for it. I have a real hard time getting below 1600, but that's because I'm addicted to food :(
