After 7 years of trying to lose weight, I think it just clicked
I've been trying to lose weight for almost 7 years now, and in that time I've put on almost 50 additional pounds... many reasons over the years from medical to mental to physical, but in the end I ate more than I exerted. I've tried weighing everything for months on end and eventually give up because it's just too much…

Tried and failed many times, what changes to make it work long-term?
Pretty open-ended question... I've been on here for years, done stints of a month or two of logging, and quite often give up on it just due to the time and effort required to log non-processed meals.. when there's a nutrition label or a barcode it's easy! I'm here again and giving it another go, I am right back up to…

Bought a $400 masticating juicer, and I never use it :(
I bought it for my birthday this year, and that was in April... I've used it maybe 3 times. I can never seem to use it in the morning for two reasons, it's loud, and it will wake up our son if he's not already up (usually I have to tiptoe in the morning), and secondly, it takes a decent amount of time to clean, about 10…

Hasn't worked the last umpteen times, how to make it work now?
Well it's 12:44am and I just finished putting the kidlet back to bed.... Leaves me thinking and wondering, I've wanted to drop 20-30 lbs for years now, back when I was 180 I wanted to be 150, now I'm 205 and I'd be happy just being 180 again!!! I've tried MFP off and on for years now, each successful time I lose around…

How would you add juicing nutritional info?
Obviously the fruit changes when you juice it, how should I be entering it? I found this site:http://www.juicingcollection.com/juicing-calculator/ that has a calculator to find the info, but adding each individual item is a bit cumbersome... But I don't want to just add calories and miss out on the macro aspect.. Thoughts?

Got my Juicer, time to Juice! Bro, do you even Juice?
Haha! All I have left in my fridge are old-*kitten* apples and some carrots, so I made an apple carrot juice before dinner... 3 small apples and 2 medium carrots. Very orange juice but DELICIOUS!! My wife LOVED it! Can't wait to go grocery shopping in the 'discount' section, since I don't need perfect vegetables for…

Ideas for smoothies?
what are some of your favourite smoothies? I am buying a magic bullet and would love some ideas... So far I know of frozen strawberries, blueberries, banana and yogurt.. I guess buying a full size tub of Greek yogurt would be a good idea? What about some additives like flax seeds? Powders only? Thanks!!!

Garlic Sausage thawed in the fridge, and forgot about for a week, still good?
Wife says no, I think it's still good... We froze a Garlic Sausage ring (sealed in package) probably about a month or two ago, expiry date on it is May 2015, she thinks because we froze it we have to eat it within 2-3 days of thawing... Thoughts?

Rice - measure pre or post cooking?
I haven't searched much but when I enter "basmati rice" it doesn't specify whether it's cooked or uncooked... Big difference, too! Thoughts?

Learning to say no, and I think I'm going to win!!
I feel like a huge success today and this week, I've managed to stay nearly within my calorie goal, said no to a TON of temptations, and I feel like I'm finally able to decide what I eat instead of letting my hunger decide for me! I managed to avoid "Whopper Wednesday" even though my wife wanted one, I went to Burger King,…

I guess I gotta stop drinking beer if I want to lose weight?
This is a real sore spot for me... I can log all I want, and am pretty good for the week, some days over, some days under... BUT If I include all the beer I drink, I will be over for the week by thousands of calories.. Most nights I have 1-2 beers, but at least one night per week I have 5-7 beers... playing darts, playing…

How off the calories burned on MFP is...........
I just shovelled mine and two neighbours driveways of 8" of snow... took about an hour, maybe a little bit more. I put in 1 hour of shoveling snow in MFP, and it tells me I burned 580 calories..... I doubt I burned even half that... Do you just manually adjust the calories burned to something more reasonable? I'm not gonna…

Wife and Myself logging the same things, way to not double-enter?
Curious if there is some way that we can both enter the dinner meal without having to enter each thing manually... I've created the 'My Meals' in mine, do we have to do the same thing to her MFP or is there some sort of way I don't know to share meals? Thanks!

Fell off the wagon...again.
Well once again I am on here because I want to lose weight. At the moment I would settle for merely losing the weight I gained since I was last on here. It's probably been ~6 months since I recorded my food... When my wife got pregnant I had a goal of losing 30lbs during her pregnancy, well that turned into gaining 20lbs…

Proven way to lose weight, works every time!!
This was spurred by today's Facebook post asking what everyone's log-in streak was. I looked at probably a hundred pictures posted, and EVERY SINGLE person that has logged in for hundreds of days in a row has lost significant weight. Seems simple enough to me, keep at it for hundreds of days and you and I WILL lose weight.…

Sedentary or Lightly Active?
Choosing which of these two makes a large difference (300 calories for me) in my daily caloric goals... I am basically assistant manager at a glass shop, we do mostly automotive.. I am the phone guy, and I help out a little bit in the back but mostly I'm standing around putting wipers on or cleaning windows, nothing too…

App that scans barcodes is awesome!
Between the app that scans barcodes, and saving my dinners as one meal for next time, I can't believe how efficient this has become to log everything! Searching for my exact thing, like my hamburger patty, or the bun, etc, can take forever... quick scan with my phone and it has the exact one with all the stats :) Learned I…

Not new, trying again to lose weight!
When I was on here last, I weighed 183 and wanted to be 155. I now weigh 204 and want to weigh 155-160. That's 40lbs I want to lose, which seems pretty daunting, considering the most I've ever lost in my life has been 8lbs. When I was on here last I went from 183 to 175, but then went camping in the summer and lost track…

How many MFP'ers are struggling with money?
I have recently become a reformed debt-a-holic, where I was spending money I didn't have with barely any consequence, never even realizing how much it was costing me... The last time my Dad (I'm 27, lol, embarassing) bailed me out with a loan to pay off my CC's, he asked me for a written budget before he'd give me the…

If I go over on monday, I should be under on tuesday?
Just a topic for discussion... I am in the group that looks at my caloric intake on more than just a daily scale... weekly calories count too! If I go over on monday by 300 calories, and then tuesday I am under by 100, then wednesday I am over by 50, thursday under by 100... I'm still over my caloric goal for the week. I…

Sugar is the one category I can't beat!
I'm coming in with half my Sodium maximum, spot on my Protein, keeping Carbs well under the max, and getting plenty of Fiber... But my Sugar intake is nearly double what MFP recommends! Rogers - Five Grain Granola, Low Raspberry Almond, 1 cup = 20g Sugar Liberte Yogurt Parfait W/ Granola (Subway Canada) - Greek Yogurt W/…

How many eggs do you hardboil, and what do you keep them in?
I've been cooking ~10 eggs at a time, and keeping them in two tupperware containers... Wonder how many you guys make at a time? They're great for egg salad sandwich/wrap or just egg salad... as well I love to just cut em in half with some salt & pepper eat em up :) The 10 is usually gone in 2 or 3 days... Would they be…

Francine's Finest "Super Bars".. thoughts?
Hi again everyone! I'm still trying to lose weight :( My neighbor at work makes these bars, sells them to grocery stores / health food places... I'm wondering if perhaps I should be eating these for breakfast daily or something? The ingredients sound pretty darn good: Organic Quinoa, brown rice & millet powders, peanuts,…

Low-Carb High-Fat thoughts & discussion
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=FSeSTq-N4U4 http://www.dietdoctor.com/lchf Anyone else watch this? A real eye-opener for me! I've been watching my calories, watching carbs, fat, sugar, all those things... Keeping them as low as possible... Silly me, I've been buying the Kellogg's low or no-fat bars,…

Am I not getting enough Protein?
I did a report on my protein intake, and I seem to average just under 80g of protein per day.. Some days it can be high as 110 or so, but never higher. Comparatively, my carb intake has been anywhere between 160 and 260g. I'm not exactly working out often, however I do a lot of yardwork at home that makes me ache & sweat,…

Closet full of pants I want to wear!
Figured I might as well post a hello topic! I've decided that I want to be able to wear all the pants that I've 'outgrown'... 5 days in and my current Jeans are already loose! Now I *need* to wear a belt, LOL! Hurray for noticeable progress :)

Did you use a scale to start?
Hey everyone! Just getting started, and logging everything store-bought is easy, but what about when I slice off a bit of Ham for a sandwich? A steak? Is a kitchen scale pretty necessary to properly track?
