Well once again I am on here because I want to lose weight. At the moment I would settle for merely losing the weight I gained since I was last on here. It's probably been ~6 months since I recorded my food... When my wife got pregnant I had a goal of losing 30lbs during her pregnancy, well that turned into gaining 20lbs instead. Most people say gaining weight when your wife is pregnant is normal, and I can't disagree...
However I am now almost 210lbs, when I want to be ~170.
Gotta keep my food intake reasonable and go for more walks now that the weather is getting better. My wife is due in 2-5 weeks, so I don't think I'll hit my 30lb goal, LOL.
Anyhoo, any motivation & support is appreciated, I have a hard time keeping myself focused on losing weight when there are so many temptations around me...Wife can eat whatever she wants and never gains a pound!

You can do this! Just keep logging on MFP and reading the message boards for motivation. I totally understand about being around temptations, my husband can eat anything and not gain weight as well. It's tough at first, but keep in mind whatever the reason(s) you want to lose weight and you can do it.0

Will send you a FR. We are very similar. during my wife's first pregnancy, I gained A LOT of weight and have gone up and down for a while after that. I am now down to where I am comfortable but with a lot to go! You can make it happen man, My wife just had my third child and I have been eating clean the whole time. ITS POSSIBLE!0

You have every reason to gain control to meet your goals! You have a beautiful wife and baby on the way.
You can do it!
This might sound funny, but it might be helpful to think of ways to include your wife and baby in your fit lifestyle. Think about walking with your wife and little one...sharing healthful and romantic meals to keep the fires burning...

Amazingly, I saw 204.5 on the scale this morning, haven't been that low since... well.. a long time ago.
That was motivation for me to continue eating healthy and minimal today, looking forward to seeing the scale again. If I don't overeat and overdrink, I won't gain... theoretically0 -
Gotta pop in, I'm on a 39 day log in streak, and I've actually been able to say no to Iced Capps (free ones!), iced cream at home, fries when eating fast food, etc...
This morning was 199.5 on the scale, I've been as low as 198, and haven't been over 200 in a week!
The trend-line is steadily going down, and I'm totally hooked this time. I can't wait to see 195... then 190.. then back into the 180's will be AWESOME!
Not sure why but this time I am easily sticking to it.. Perhaps because I don't beat myself up if I go over my calories for a day? Even if I go over by 400 calories, I'm still under my "maintenance" weight, so I don't really gain!
Thanks for reading!!!
-edit-
39 days, 11lbs lost, I'm averaging 2lbs per week!0 -
Keep up the good work! Slow progress is better than no progress, so it's good to hear that you don't beat yourself up by eating some extra calories here and there. Keep going!0

Embarassing return to this thread Back up to 208.5 as of this morning.... I blame it 100% on the fact that I stopped logging, counting, and really caring what I ate... I don't really know why I stopped but I did, and I gained it all back within 2 months.
GAH.
Doing it again Broke my kitchen scale so I gotta go buy a new one!0 -
I can feel ur pain :-/
I will stick with logging & losing and somehow it will go awry and I find myself right back where I started, or worse!!
This is my first go at getting involved in the MFP community threads, so I hope to find motivation and inspiration. I feel SO sad as a fat nurse... I want to look the part, u know? Healthy, fit, energetic...
Oh my, what a long haul0
