Activity Level

I'm unsure what my activity level should be and I've seen that so do a lot of other people. Is there any listing where activity levels are listed other than by profession?

I sit for most of my work day, with the occasional walking to another office or conference rooms, and work out/run 2-3 times a week and run the occasional half marathon. Once I get home I'll do a few chores and then catch up on some shows and go to bed. I'm not exactly sitting all day every day like the term "sedentary" would suggest but my job says otherwise. What would you suggest my activity level is?

1: If you record your exercise and add burned calories, then don't consider it during your activity level.
2: Sedentary doesn't mean coma patient.
3: Set it to any level that makes you happy. If you lose weight on it, great. If not, lower it down.

Or, adjust the amount you want to lose every week.

Personally I set mine on sedentary because it's not an indictment on me. Even though I'm much more active. The difference is only a few hundred calories anyway. I just like having that little built in buffer.

hah I just posted this exact question.. Not sure if I'm sedentary or lightly active. As long as sedentary includes the odd walk, the odd cleaning, etc... then probably sedentary.

MFP's activity levels do not include additional exericse, so take that out of the equation.

I also find their sedentary level is very low, I'd say a lot of people would be lightly active.

So I recently did a Bod Pod analysis and they listed it roughly as:
Sedentery: Easy cardio 30 minutes 3x a week
Lightly Active: Easy Cardio 40-90 minutes 3-5x a week
Active: Easy cardio 90+ 5x a week or Moderate cardio 30-60 min 3-5x a week
Very Active: Moderate cardio 90+ minutes 5x+ a week

Edit to add: If you use this, keep in mind MFP will count this activity in your number, do not double log. Personally I use sedentery and just add any excercise I do

No, if you choose very active on MFP you will not get enough calories for that much cardio activity. It does not account for exercise until you log it. MFP activity levels do not include exercise.

Depends really.. it's a pretty significant difference:1550 vs 2,340 Calories / Day for me... 790 seems a pretty accurate calorie count for someone who does a significant amount of cardio vs someone who does not with the same level of daily activity otherwise (EG: Me sitting at my desk all day and going to the gym after, vs my co worker who goes home and watches TV) HOWEVER if you have a Highly active job involving manual labor, then yes, any excercise above this would have to be counted separately. OP does not appear to and was looking at other options for her daily activity level from what I gathered, that's just a different way of doing it, albiet not necessarily the most accurate.
