  • What do you do? You call it a vacation day and get back on the wagon. Everyone does it. Someone here once said you do not fail unless you quit. If you don't quit, you haven't failed. Get back in the game! Don't give up.
  • I made a great tasting one today with what I had on hand. 1/2 cup fat free plain yogurt, 1 tablespoon honey and a half cup of fresh blackberries. Put it in a blender with ice and whirl away. 155 thick sweet calories.
  • Weigh yourself. Stand in front of the mirror naked. Log your calories and remember your workout means you can eat a little more.
  • I haven't read the other posts, but try adding a few slices of cucumber and some ice to filtered water. Cucumber makes it taste silkier somehow to me. I drink cucumber water, sometimes with lemon, and water that has been filtered in my Brita filter. You might also try making decaffeinated green tea and drinking that…
  • I fought weight gain during those pre-menopausal years, so yeah, I had some weight issues, but I wasn't overweight. I just had unhealthy ways of dealing with the weight. Skipping meals, not eating right, fad diets. I managed but yo-yo'ed a lot. It wasn't a good way to keep my weight down. I joined MFP a long time ago, but…
  • Sounds like you've had a good day back on the wagon. I didn't do very well this past weekend and I was doing so good. Didn't really consume that many more food calories, but drank tons of wine - went wine tasting for two days, gobbled cheese and crackers then ate garbage when I got home. No exercise. Bleh. I'm looking at…
  • I'm 55. Had a total hysterectomy and emergency appendectomy back to back last year. Laid up for six months with no exercise and eating my depression away while reading propaganda on various websites saying my metabolism would be like molasses, no more good sex, no more energy, blah dee-pressing blah. I gained 25 lbs. and…
  • Sounds great! I love salmon.
  • Here's another one - beef stew for a cold day Beef Stew · 1/4 cup plus 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour · 2 teaspoons kosher salt, plus more for seasoning · 1/2 tsp dry mustard · 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper, plus more for seasoning · 1 (3-pound) boneless chuck roast · 3 tablespoons vegetable oil · 1 medium yellow…
  • This is my fave winter soup. Especially good when you've got a cold. The cumun wafts up from the hot broth and clears your sinuses. Excellent stuff! First you make the meatballs, then you make the soup the meatballs live in. Albondingas (Mexican Meatball Soup) First make your meatballs Meatballs 1 lb. lean ground beef 1…
  • If you like fish (which I do), you will love this. Tonight, I actually added a tablespoon of soy sauce to the marinade before boiling. I added white wine - just a dribble - last time I made it. I didn't this time but I think it is better with the white wine.
  • Are they crispy when they're done? I've tried oven fries before and they always come out all soggy. I like a crispy potato! :-)

  • Being kidnapped by aliens who hold me captive for months because they want to study fat old women, then erase my memory and release me. Then for the rest of my life I have flashbacks I don't understand.
  • Things not mentioned that I like is a man who knows how to fix things around the house. Will go out on a cold morning and get my car started when it doesn't want to work. Fixes my computer when it goes blank or gets stuck. Mends things like a broken leg on the coffee table. Collects screwdrivers, wrenches, pliers, nuts,…
  • It is very common for this to happen so don't worry. I was freaking out because I dropped 9 lbs. in five weeks then ... nothing. Like you, I also gained a pound. But I lost that pound and nothing else. So I got on the net and started reading about how the body will reach a plateau and want to stay at a certain weight for…
  • I'm so sorry you're losing sleep over his bad attitude. Sounds like he's not too happy with his OWN life right now and is reflecting. If you are going to lose weight it has to be a personal thing that you do for yourself, not to please him. The reverse is just as true. If you choose not to try to lose weight it shouldn't…
  • I am 5'4" and my goal weight is 135 lbs. At that weight I look great and healthy. As a young adult I was about 128 and I was very thin. I have a medium frame. 120 is actually on the lean side for a medium framed woman. Are you small framed? If so, the healthy weight is 114-127. That puts you just right in the middle. Not…
  • when I feel like snacking, I surf the net. I come here and read success stories and mindless gibberish people post on the Chit chat forum. I make my meal plan for the next day. I search for recipes. In short, I visit my computer instead of the refrigerator.
  • Dude was apparently looking for a hiking partner. Hope you find some good hiking buddies! It's great exercise. I guess we can post whatever we want now
  • Ingenious. I will have to try this.
  • I am married 32 years and my husband was never meaner than when I was pregnant or had small young children. I don't know why it affects some men this way, but I read it over and over and have experienced it myself. All I can say is put his negative comments on a shelf. They have nothing to do with you but more with his own…
  • I'd take either one. Just slather me with butter and throw me in the middle.
  • Get a dog instead. They don't argue with you, are always happy to see you, are loyal, and can be trained to obey on command.
  • get drunk with the poster above and also
  • I learned that I can't be trusted to just cheat a little. I binge! I graze! I eat everything in sight! No more cheat days for me. :ohwell:
  • My favorite tomato soup recipe is Ina Garten's Fresh Tomato Soup. Google it and you will find it. I parboil my tomatoes and peel them and seed them before chopping them. Edited to add that you will never want canned tomato soup again once you've tried this. Delish!
  • semi-sweet chocolate chips I count out 8 or so... then if I need more.. another 8... repeat as necessary. Brown Cow chocolate yogurt is good, it's just hard to find where I live.
