  • When I have trouble with leg cramps, I take a calcium and magnesium supplement and it helps a lot.
  • As a low carb person, I work with this all the time. It's the "net carb" concept as fiber doesn't really impact blood sugar and the body doesn't have an insulin response to it.
  • Re-reading my post, I realize how ridiculus it sounds so I realize my worries are probably unfounded. Just curious if the Atkins phase was as big a deal across the pond as it was in the States about ten years ago.
  • Thanks. Most of my diet is lean meats, vegetables, etc. but I do intend to indulge just a bit.
  • I've been eating low carb since Sept. 2011. Prior to going low carb, I could not seem to get over a plateau. I had already lost 60 or 70 pounds. In my first month of low carb, I lost 14 pounds. In the second month, I lost 11 pounds. Low carb keeps my cravings in check. Additionally, I workout every day. I swim, I run, I…
  • I wear compression shorts everyday. I don't have a ton of loose skin but just enough that the compression shorts help give me a little more confidence. Great for working out too.
  • I'm 5'11'' and currently at 189.4. Four years ago, I was 316.5. I'm currently at 26.6% bodyfat. Getting down to 176 would put me around 21%, 170 would have me at 18. I'll be tickled with 175, I think. No matter what, way better off than I used to be.
  • I quit smoking in September 2010...I was around 65 to 70 pounds into the 126 I've lost. It wasn't easy, it took about six months for the craving to go away. I was in the middle of a plateau when I quit and I'm sure that didn't help. But, I managed not to gain any weight. I had just started running and I figured it would be…
  • With a few people, I noticed that while I was still bigger than them, I received lots of compliments about how much weight I had lost. After I had gotten smaller than them (and in better shape), the compliments stopped. I think it is apparent to them now that hard work and dedication to diet and exercise are the key. Those…
  • I stalled out after losing 60 or 70 pounds...for a little over a year. Then, I went to a low-carb plan. In the first month of low carb, I lost 14 pounds! I've been low-carb for 17 months now and I've lost a total of 123 pounds. You might consider it. I tried a little bit of everything when I was trying to break the plateau.
  • I can relate to you. I've lost 120 pounds now and I'm so close to goal. I've had a tougher week this week and it scares the crap out of me that I could mess up and gain the weight back. Even though I'm in clothing sizes that are smaller than what my goal sizes were, I still find myself "feeling fat" today. We're human,…
  • I'm around 5'10"" and started at 316.5. My immediate family noticed at about 13 pounds. With others, it was around 40 or 50 pounds. I'm currently at 197.6 and have lost 118.9 pounds. It seems like once I got to the 100 pounds lost mark, everyone noticed. Now, folks notice like two pound losses. Of course, I've been…
  • For what it is worth, I've been low carb for over a year. I had lost around 70 pounds and then hit a plateau for a year. I decided to try low carb and I've lost almost 50 pounds in this year of low carb. Now, I understand, giving up carbs is hard. Some people can't do it. But it works for me. My cholesterol numbers are…
  • Hack Squat - 360 Leg Press - 540 Chest Press - 135-150 Butterfly - 135-150 Shoulder Press - 120 Overhead Row - 140 Leg Adductor - 200 Those are just some of the sets that I do. I've always been a strong gal. For some reference here, I'm 5'11'' and 201 pounds. I used to weigh 316.5. I'm working towards a full, unassisted…
  • I've always heavy lifted, the five and ten pound weights just seem pointless to me. Fifteen years ago, my sophomore year in high school, I took advanced PE with many members of our football team. Starting in January, I began lifting again. I generally lift three times a week, I do upper and lower body in the same session.…
