I'm basically in a similar place. I've definitely put on happy weight, and I'd like it to come off now. I'm hoping logging my food every day and adding exercise will take it off again.
-
Such a clear explanation!
-
Yup. 5'2" and starting at 123. My initial goal is 115. Then we will see where I'm happiest.
-
Yes, I'm looking to take a slow and controlled approach to this.
-
Yeah, I'm aiming for a lower weight also. It's not always easy to go for the goals you set, instead of what others tell you is good enough. Do you have a plan? I've always found that losing weight means taking things really slow. Since we're short (I'm also 5'3") we don't need that many calories to maintain, and losing…

for the record, there is evidence that exercise CAN treat depression effectively. http://www.health.harvard.edu/newsweek/Exercise-and-Depression-report-excerpt.htm http://www.ajpmonline.org/article/S0749-3797(04)00241-7/pdf Seeing a heath professional is always recommended. Sometimes they know more stuff than we do. All…

I live in Central America and won't run without a shirt on the streets because I would feel unsafe. I actually pay to run on the treadmill at a resort gym just so I can go shirtless. I would say to me it depends a lot on your environment, in fact more than your body. I would be inclined to do whatever is comfy as long as…

Freya. The best ever brand for bigger-chested women. But I would advise either a professional fitting (NOT at Victoria Secret) or at least measure yourself to make sure that is really your size.
-
Hey thanks! I guess I just assumed I couldn't lift those poundages. I will give it a try!!

EYE ROLL. Um, just because someone is a size zero doesn't mean they are sick. Short people, like this lady seems to be, can be a size zero really easily, especially with vanity sizing. Her BMI is on the low end of HEALTHY(!). I repeat, healthy. And you can lose your period for a lot of reasons. It is a great idea to talk…

This study is super interesting, but not relevant to overweight people looking to permanently change their weight by an incremental calorie deficit. If you are losing weight in a moderate way, then this study is not representative of the results you can expect. Two big differences are - % of calorie deficit - healthy v.…

I am just starting to notice looking different at a loss of 9 pounds. I am short, so this amounts to 2 sizes on me. I lose 1 size for every 5 lbs, mas o menos. I know that I start to look really different about 4 lbs lower than I am now. I have been there before and it's a huge difference. When my boobs start to evaporate,…

Hmm, I just had a look thru and realized that I want to set my goal weight lower. It's already at the lower end of the healthy BMI, but I want to look like what I saw on that site. Maybe I just need to get a life and move on . . . Or start lifting heavy!!! all the ladies that do that on MFP look great!

I am actually in the same process. I love exercising, but right now I am not fitting it in. It has to do with time and stress management and the fact that I have not always had a healthy relationship with exercise. I never thought I could lose weight unless I exercised 3 hours per day or did some other extreme thing.…

I live in a foreign country and it is unsafe to run outside. Either because of traffic or people.

For me, (short with a small frame), its hard to pinpoint an ideal size. When at goal weight/body size, I wear a 0 or 00 in most misses brAnds or a 0 in juniors. I find European sizing to be a bit more consistent, and there I would like to be a size 32. I go by measurements more because its consistent.

Hey thanks guys, these comments give me lots to think about. I have heard of tdee but I don't know what that is. Any reference material out there? I used to run with friends and do races, but now where I live I can't do either. I am basically confined to a treadmill and maybe that's why I don't enjoy it much. I watch tv…

If there was a short marathon it would be the most popular race on earth.

danilova, I had the same thing happen to me last week!! I was trying to make a real change in my lifestyle to finally drop some pounds. So I started eating lots of fiber: broccoli, black beans, brown rice, other veggies. Tons of veggies. My kcals went down to about 800 per day and I was stuffed. But the scale started to go…

arc 918, that's totally funny AND true: just eat 60 miles worth of food. I think what happens is after I do a run I didn't want to do, I just feel i deserve something special, like if i put myself thru all that pain, I should be able to enjoy something too. And yeah, you're right, mr knight, it is the food

I'm 5'2" and 117. Right now my waist is 25". I am aiming for 103 lbs, so I have a lot to lose, actually.
-
5'2" ish and aiming for 103.

I think it's great to have a goal. Even if I don't get there exactly, I have a direction to channel my energy.
-
I totally hear you!!!! If i ever say I want to lose weight, everyone always says, "oh, but you're tiny!". And yet, I'm nowhere near skinny or even particularly thin. It's great to have a place to post and be honest about my weight and my goals and not be judged.
-
knt6742 - that's exactly why we started this group!! We can be honest about our weight-loss strategies without being worried about people who just don't get it.

I use the calculators on Fat2fitradio.com They have a couple that use measurements to estimate. I wanted to know because it changes your BMR if you have more or less lean body mass compared to body fat. But at this point, I think you're right, Nyusha, I'm not going to get a really accurate measurement right now. Usually…

We are starting to build members!! I'm pretty excited about this. As a petite lady, your kcal goals and weight goals are pretty different from everyone else. We're looking to decide on a group icon, so weigh in if you want to have a say.
