  • Since I am in the same boat I am bumping for reading when I have more time...from the scanning of the thread, looks like some great advise.
  • Great topic and ideas!! Since I often don't get home until nearly 7 at night, a crockpot meal (or at least the bulk of the meal) makes consuming dinner at a reasonable time a bit easier AND stops me from being lazy and just eating out or picking something up on the way home!
  • Thanks for giving us a timeline. There are so many success stories that extole massive weightloss but leave out the timeframe it took to do it. I know everyone is different based on both internal and external factors, but having timeframes for the success stories give perspective and motivation (at least for me! Congrats!!!
  • Inspirational!
  • I need to read in detail later. Great ideas from what I have read so far and YES...it is definitely baby steps!
  • My kind of post! I love quotes and these are going into my quote journal! Thanks everyone :~)
  • This was me everytime I moved today!!! So annoying :grumble: At least I have a skort on with both front and back skirt sections, so no one knew...except when I was yanking the short part down!! Just started wearing shorts again after a NO SHORTS spell of at least a couple of years. Still feel I am a bit big for shorts, but…
  • If the ball was 10c then the bat would have to be $1.10 which would make the total cost $1.20. x(bat) +y(ball) = 1.10 x = y+1 replace x with the y formula: y +1 +y = 1.10 combine like items: 2y +1 = 1.10 isolate the varible: 2y = 1.10-1 Do the math: 2y = .10 Reduce to get the answer: y = .05 Ok, maybe I do rank up there…
  • That's totally me - well maybe not going as far as to say I was a math nerd. I do love math and I am good at it, but I could never work in a numbers job :noway:
  • I did! If I hadn't seen the year in progress I wouldn't have believed before and after pics to be the same person! Although she didn't face the life obstacles that the guy in episode 1 did, she had her own demons to face. Both episodes were very inspiring!!
  • bump...as a reminder to check it out tonight! Sounds amazing and exactly the motivation I need. I use to watch TBL for workout inspiration and the extra push that I didn't always do on my own, but this last season actually demotivated me - oh I still worked out, but I didn't go in to each of those workouts saaying, "I am…
  • RedeifingMe = As it implies I am redefining who I am. Since I have always carred too much weight around, I have always been self conscious. I want to change how I feel about me and how I project to others who interact with me. This process is not a diet or a intermediate fix - it is a life change that requires redefining…
  • Congrats on completing your first 5K.. My first will be the local Color Run in mid July, but I am walking it...no desire to run. Looking to complete it in less than an hour walking, which takes into account joint and heel issues. I hear once you fiinish your first one, you have a taste for more. Keep up the great work!!
  • Great thread and wonderful suggestions. I too have been told that my knee pain is due to arthritis and caring way to much excessive weight. The ortho suggested the upright stationary bike to strengthen my knee. Just about the time I got the knee pain under control and was back to walking outside on trails, I ended up with…
  • Fabulous!!! You have worked hard to make this lifestyle change and those 14 jeans are just the beginning! Keep it up :~)

  • Like someone else said, I gave up Soda years ago! I was literally drinking 2 or 3 per day of the largest size McD's had at the time - they have an even larger size now. :noway: I coupled giving up soda with doing something I really enjoyed but only got to do once every few year (going to a family camp with teens - who were…
  • Can't answer your questions from personal experience as I just bought mine a few days ago and still need to figure out all the ins and outs of it before I can use it - too busy to do that this week...looking forward to delving into it this weekend - YEAH! What I can tell you is the majority of the hype here on the formums…
  • We have the same "end goal" weight and only an inch difference in heighth. I am even on the same page with the Disney run - but not in 2013 as our starting point is not so close. I wish you luck and success :~)
  • I loved by Brooks when I had them - wore then into the ground. I typically have to by wide shoes because of the ball of my foot whereas my heel is very narrow. I didn't find my Brooks to be narrow and they were not a designated wide shoe. When I just got new shoes a few months back, I ended up with Asics and love them - I…
  • Great replies, everyone! Thanks for your input! I am still transitioning out of processed foods (mainly snacks) into more natural "real deal" (as someone said) foods, so this feedback is very useful! Thanks again :~)
  • The other posters pretty much summed it up...you have options, you just have to ask or make them yourself in the buffet. I went on a cruise with a diabetic and for the dining room meals our server always asked if he was having the diabetic option, which he did for the majority of the meals, and then at dessert time, he was…
  • bumping for later reference when menu planning. Sounds yummy
  • Excellent post....I have been wondering the same thing. I have figured out that the variances are probably because of cooking style and seasonings/flavorings, etc, but since those items aren't always listed, iti s hard to know which one best matches the food you are trying to log. Am very interested in what others have to…
  • She wasn't familiar with fitbit :~( I am still trying to decide what device to use for the purposes of tracking daily calorie use from average daily activities. Recommendations have been fitbit, boddybugg, mediabody fit. Anyone know of any others that can be worn all day to track calories burned and also steps taken?
  • Thanks - I will check out the Body Media website. Do HRMs track calories burned? Sorry if that seems like a "dumb" question, but when it comes to gadgets related to tracking aspects of fitness, I am very uninformed.
  • These are great! Thanks for sharing :~)
  • We need an abbreviation glossory page - I have had to search acronyns to figure out what some of them mean, like, NSV - non scale victory C25K - couch to 5 K HRM - heart rate monitor (ok, I know this one was a "duh" when I looked it up) There were more, but I can't remember them at the moment. Good luck with your weight…
  • You are not alone...I go through it too!!! I think it is the disadvantage of working out at the end of the day - you have to motivate yourself to wo after facing all the events and tasks of the day. Yes, I know the logical solution is to wo in the morning, but that isn't going to happen, so I will have to decide do I want…
  • I know the frustration of wanting something else more than wanting to accomplish my goal...even when it is not a conscious choice. I have had those kind of days for the past 3 days and all I can do is say tomorrow I get to start over. I agree with the above sentiments, I have to want this for me and it has to come from…
  • Was good at it when I was younger, but with the added middle and age weight, I can't make it work now! Maybe that will be one of my goals - get back to a size where I can hula hoop again. I remember it being an high intensity (but so much fun that is didn't feel like a workout) activity. Many of the fun things we did as…
