  • Check your stats (gender, age, height, weight) and weight loss rate (if you have that set in Fitbit) in both MFP and Fitbit. What rate of loss in MFP (and Fitbit) have you chosen? Make sure you are not set in MFP for maintenance.
  • You can not share recipes directly with another user, and another user will not find your recipes through a search. Your recipes will be displayed in the search results only when you perform a search. There is a workaround to log another user's Recipe nutrition information. Once you log a Recipe to one of your Meals,…
  • What model Fitbit and do you wear the Fitbit 24/7?
  • MFP actually decreased the default carbohydrate goal by 5% and increased the protein goal by 5% over three years ago. The defaults are within the guideline ranges for the *average* person. MFP allows users to customize their daily goals.…
  • Until you actually sync an app, it will not appear under "Your Apps." Search for Fitbit, it is there.
  • Tip: If the pot is wide, set a sturdy small bowl on the scale, tare the scale, then place the pot on top. That will raise the pot so that you can see the display.
  • For comparison, I am M, 56, 5'8", 150 lbs. in maintenance (SW was 240 lbs.). I average 7000 steps per day (Fitbit) and average about 2420 Net Cals per day, which is slightly above the MFP Active setting, which is 2370 Net Cals for my stats. I do not do Crossfit, run, or lift, only walk. I do log my Calorie intake…
  • MFP food data occasionally gets posted to Fitbit one or more times. Try making an edit to one of the food items in MFP in Breakfast and re-enter it. That usually triggers an update that corrects the syncing. If not, go to Fitbit and delete the extra synced entries.
  • The nutrition data is entered by other MFP users. They make mistakes and some only enter partial information. All users have access to the same public Food Database. MFP specifically does not guaranty the accuracy of its data in the Terms of Service users agree to when creating an account. If a user has a medical…
  • Try this... If MFP and Fitbit are synced but you are not seeing Fitbit steps, on the MFP mobile app go to Menu > Steps, or on the web version go to APPS > Steps, and make sure Fitbit Tracker is selected as the Step Source.
  • MFP was not designed to save foods *from* your Diary or the public Food Database *to* your My Foods list. It can not be done in the current design of the database. The My Foods list is the permanent storage list of your personal items you create that you do not want to share with the public Food Database. Your My Foods…

  • On the mobile apps, type in asparagus raw and then tap the search icon (magnifying glass) or scroll down to see the hyperlink to search all MyFitnessPal foods for it. If it does not return anything, check the internet connection, or MFP might be temporarily having a glitch.

  • On the web version, go to FOOD > Food Diary and at the bottom of the page the grams of macros logged will be displayed there. On the mobile apps, go to Nutrition > Nutrients >Day View or Week View to see the information.
  • One definition of burn is: "to undergo combustion;" where combustion is defined as "a chemical change, especially oxidation." A controlled oxidation of organic molecules within the mitochondria of animals can definitely be called burning.

  • The scanner should work. The scanner reads the lines, which return a series of numbers. The numbers are used to search the MFP public Food Database, instead of text. If another user has already associated that number with an existing MFP database record, the food item will be found. If not, you will be prompted to create a…

  • The Recent list is a query of the items that are already logged in your Diary. You can pick from that list to log them to a new day or meal. When you need to add a new item on the app, type the name of the brand and item, then tap the search icon (magnifying glass) to search the public Food Database; or after typing the…
  • I came up with a workaround to add the ingredients of one recipe to another by first saving all the ingredients in my Diary, saving it as a My Meal, then using the saved My Meal to add to the new recipe using the Old Recipe Calculator on the web version. I now use this two step method for all recipes I create because I…
  • The Recent list is a query (search) of your Food Diary, similar to a Google search (query) of the internet. Just as someone cannot currently delete things from a Google search, an MFP user cannot delete things from the Recent list query. The Recent list exists as a one-time search result of the items stored in your Food…

  • The only option to keep your activity tracker linked and not have activity Calories added to your daily goal (which is actually how MFP is designed, because it gives you a daily goal without extra activity beyond your self-estimated activity level) is to pay for MFP Premium.
  • If you are seeing steps but no "exercise" Calories, perhaps you have not yet taken enough steps (moved enough) to earn more Calories than you get from your MFP self-estimated Activity Level. I do not start getting a positive Fitbit Calorie Adjustment until I have exceeded 2500 steps per day when set to MFP Sedentary…
  • A kettlebell is not an exercise, it is a piece of equipment than can be used in a variety of movements and exercises. One activity would not provide a valid estimate for the myriad ways a person could use the kettlebell, nor account for the different sizes and weights of kettlebells used. Depending on how you are using the…

  • Changing your goal temporarily and changing it back is probably the easiest way to ensure that it changes if it is warranted. Note that MFP goals seem to go down (or up) in increments of 10 Calories, so the change may not be enough to bump the Calories by the minimum 10 Calorie change. Also, the minimum daily goal for…
